This man could have saved my life six months ago. Now I'm stuck living in my in-laws' basement because I blew way too much on starting a business in a bad demographic... but I have several 50-lb. bags of superfoods kicking around to ease the pain. Great find! I want to get into the 2013 farmers' market scene.

Prism, I love your posts and find them so informative! Don't ever have doubts! I quit the ginger and dandelion root tea, and haven't experienced anything since (it's been a few days now). It may have just been the combination of EVERYTHING, I was steeping 2-3 inches of ginger in tea every day for a good month, plus adding it to salads and everything else I could imagine. I was also eating lot

I used to work at a place where I felt safer drinking the canned coconut water over the tap water, when nothing else was available. Make sure there's NOTHING but coconut water in the can if you must, though... Pity there isn't any ORGANIC coconut water out there. Or... organic coconuts, for that matter. Sigh.

No it won't... because the world is changing for the better. <3 Until it's finished changing, though, save a few pots of dirt and viable seeds. :O

I know that if you buy shiitakes, the best way to get them is grown on hardwood. It's called "Donko shiitake." ...and in other news, I saw a guy with an apron that said, "Shiitake happens."

Not sure if this is connected, BUT, I started drinking dandelion root tea (yum!). It is a blood thinner. I don't know how drastic of a blood thinner, but apparently blood thinners make bruises happen more easily?? Sounds more logical than lack of bioflavonoids. Edit: and FURTHER digging reveals more interesting herbal knowledge! I've also been MADLY binging on ginger, drinking lots of

Does anyone know what's up with this?! I had the worst thing happen yesterday in my finger... It felt like something STUNG my finger, and I looked down to see a blood vessel had popped. It burned like crazy for about five minutes, eventually bruised, and was mostly healed today. I experienced this afternoon something in my pinky where it started to burn, and a tiny vein got dark, but it did

I wonder about these sometimes, I know someone who has been raw for over a year and still has trouble with regular bowel movements, sometimes they are delayed. I've wondered if colonics would help or hinder that kind of situation? I certainly ever haven't gotten one just for the fun of it... Mono-meloning seems to be a very gentle way to cleanse. (TMI alert!) Eventually, nothing comes out o

I've always wondered this... If memory serves me correctly, I had a stick before that was just sea salt... can't find it anymore since I moved. >.<

I've always eaten raw mushrooms to no ill effect, and they are used quite commonly in raw gourmet. I've worked in raw restaurants with people who eat them constantly, again without any problems. Are they IDEAL? I don't really know. They can be a great source of vitamin D, and wild mushrooms are often ~PACKED~ with all sorts of amazing immunostimulants... I know that non-organic mushrooms ar

I had a horrifying blister on my foot, once, and a sea salt + epsom salt bath cleared it up instantly. I'm waiting for my tax returns to order the magnetic clay. <3 Epsom soaks are also wonderful for sore muscles...

My middle name is Brie. Yes, spelled, like the cheese. I suppose I have to get really good at making fermented nut cheeses to live up to my name. My fiance and I have been contemplating creating our own last name for when we are married. Of course, the whole family will probably be insulted. But I like the idea of something to reflect the creation of something new... assuming a role as som

In time, your tastes will sharpen, and I think it will be easy to tell the difference between organic and conventional. In the beginning, though, just focusing on inundating yourself with FRESH and LIVING food is all that matters. Also, steaming and boiling are the least destructive methods of food preparation, with baking, frying, and microwaving being the worst. Even if you're not 100% raw

I thought for sure I would have gotten some "low circulating B12," iron on the low side of normal or SOMETHING, but not at all! Nowhere close! It's not easy/practical/convenient/cheap to get an analysis done, which is probably why most people haven't... but I thought it's super-important to share, because there's a good chance that everyone here may be doing better than imagined, des

...and after four years of being RAW VEGAN... I'm not lacking a single thing! Not even B12! No deficiencies! Just thought I would share, because there are lots of haters out there and/or people trying to help themselves with raw but experiencing a constant onslaught of doubt from the haters. There are some nasty, arrogant people that convey a whole lot more than idle curiosity when they ask

I don't believe this was mentioned already... The piperine in black pepper, when combined with turmeric, makes the curcumin in turmeric MANY MANY TIMES more potent. Turmeric is already an herb with AMAZING antioxidant properties, but if you combine it with black pepper... BANG! >8)

Smart Meters came to my area, and I've been sick in bed for the past three days. I was always sensitive to cell phones, but now I feel like I can't feel normal anywhere, unless it's out in the middle of the forest and lying in the dirt. There isn't even one attached to OUR house!! >.< I'm crossing my fingers and just hoping that everyone I live with in the house also all got sick coi

There's also... life force. <3 Did you ever see the experiment with plants? Feed one plant regular water, feed another plant microwaved water, and see which one dies first. Microwaves are dastardly. This is not THE site I was looking for, but has most of the things that happen chemically when food is heated: Boiling and steaming are the gentlest ways to cook. Baking introduces th

My boyfriend, who is also healing his digestive tract, prefers fermented food to any other option because the food goes to the colon, and he feels like that delivers the probiotics most effectively. Otherwise, I would second taking capsules on an empty stomach.

Despite the fact dairy contains calcium, the acidifying nature of it causes higher amounts of calcium to be passed through the urine, as the body leeches minerals to neutralize it. The countries with the highest rate of dairy consumption also have the highest rates of osteoperosis. Three yummy non-dairy amazing probiotic alternatives not yet mentioned: kombucha, kimchi, and miso. <3 Dair

Thank you so much, everyone! I suppose there are lots of herbs/specific foods that I can focus on working into my diet more, it just wasn't as readily obvious as... hmm, well, that's why I asked. The longer you stick to your decisions, the more confident you will become, and eventually, you won't even think about it. I'm always a fan of diffusing situations with humor. Or, you can fake it. Your new name for "orange juice" could be "Screwdriver."
