After I started eating organic produce I noticed that non-organic strawberries made my mouth burn. I refuse to refer to non organic food as conventional, to think that covered in poison means conventional is just insane to me. The only fruit and veggies I eat that are not certified organic is the citrus I pick from my backyard. :-)

I would honestly date whomever I wanted without regard to what they eat. There are so few people out there I would date in the first place, lol, I don't think I could discount meat eaters or non raw food eaters. Luckily I don't have to worry about it. My husband and I learned about raw food at the same time and he loves the idea and is doing it with me. But I wouldn't mind if he didn't.

Not manic depression, but I have been diagnosed with depression and have taken quite a few different medications for it. I've always hated taking the meds and I'll be honest, when I went raw I went off them and I feel really good about it. Not saying you should do it, but it's worked for me. I had some real issues with food though, I medicated myself with food in a really bad way. When I stop

I still wear my same makeup honestly. I really never wore a lot of makeup in the first place though. I have noticed that my skin is much better so I don't really need any makeup on my face. There used to be days where I had to cover my face in foundation because my skin was so bad and that just flat out doesn't happen anymore. I put on some lotion to moisturize and a little light powder, my masca

I lost fat all over and have had a big reduction in my stomach fat. The other thing I noticed was that when I started eating raw foods all the time I actually had the energy to work out and didn't mind doing crunches.

Sapphire, I've found that the more raw food I eat the less I want dairy in general. Cheese started tasting really gross to me as I increased the raw % in my diet. You will probably just lose your taste for it eventually.

I know a lot of people don't do it, but I supplement and am pretty happy with it. I am pretty new to raw though, from what I've read a lot of people here started off with supplements and then slowly phased them out. I'm pregnant so I take a prenatal, but before that I only supplemented B12. If you balance your diet you should be able to get enough zinc I believe. Do what feels best for you. I

Feeling pretty pukey today. I had a bowl of cereal this morning and apparently that was a giant mistake. I keep having waves of nausea and just want to go home and get into bed. I can't even stand to drink my smoothie and I feel sad thinking I got up at 530, blended the damn thing and wasted it. I need to go home and find something to eat, don't know what, but I gotta find something.

I find that when refusing food it's easiest to blame a food allergy if you're not comfortable with just saying no I don't eat that. Lactose intolerance is my favorite excuse for not eating cooked food. Nobody in my family can seem to make anything without butter, milk, or cheese. Personally I'd have to say that after being raw for a while I could safely say I'm allergic to all kinds of things..

We have Sweet Tomatoes here in Phoenix too. It's a fantastic place to take kids and I love their salad bar. Not enough fruit though!

Where is your favorite raw restaurant? Aside from restaurants catering to raw foods, where do you go that you can eat raw? For example, where is your favorite salad bar? What restaurant has a breakfast buffet with a large amount of fruit? Anyone find chain restaurants that they're happy with? My personal favorite chain restaurant is Olive Garden. I can take anyone there, raw or not and the

I bring a smoothie with me to work and that's about it. I make it with several bananas and generally fill it up until I have about a thousand calories. It tends to keep me full through breakfast and lunch. Some days I will bring and orange or banana or maybe half a cantaloupe if I think I will be extra hungry.

-- How long have you been a raw foodist? That is a work in progress. I've been slowly transitiong over the past 3 months. -- What was the last cooked meal you had? Rice and kidney beans last night(I'm very addicted to kidney beans!) -- What's your bestest, most favoritest raw meal you ever did have in the whole entire world? It's simple really - I bought a giant cut fruit plate and veggie

I'd quit my job, move to an island somewhere probably and eat all the exotic fruit I could. And if I wanted some cooked food I would eat it and not worry about it. If I knew FOR SURE that I was going to die and there was NO way around it.

FYI Kale absorbs a lot of water. My first kale/fruit smoothie turned into baby @#$%& colored jelly, it was pretty funny. My friend found me in the breakroom at work pouring water into and shaking my mug around and found that enormously funny.

I went through a phase when I first went raw where I ate bananas for breakfast and oranges for lunch every day for almost a month and was perfectly happy. For right now I can't stand the thought of an orange and gave away all the ones that were on my tree because I didn't even want to smell them while I was in my backyard.

The longer I'm on primarily raw food the less sleep I need. Lately I find myself waking up at 430am after going to bed around 11pm. Even from the last time I posted on this thread I need less sleep! I never thought I could function off of 5.5 hours, it's pretty amazing.

People at the grocery store always ask me if I have a monkey at home because I buy SO many bananas! I tell them I am the monkey. Last time I bought groceries from Costco everyone in line was asking me tons of questions about if I really ate that much, so I took a quick minute to tell them that my husband and I eat primarily raw food and they all seemed very fascinated. When I checked out a coup

I've decided to give myself a bit of a pass on eating cooked food when I need, but only for one meal a day. No meat for sure and no cheese other than maybe the occasional bit of feta, which is my biggest weakness. But if I want some rice and beans I'm going to have it and if I want some steamed veggies I'll have them. I've been feeling exhausted lately and I think it's due in large part to me b

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. I figured out that I need about 41g of protein based on the WHO recommendations,NOT the 80g my friend is insisting that I need, which I am more than getting with the huge amounts of fruit I'm eating. I've been putting everything I eat into Fitday and I'm doing just fine on all my nutrients. That plus a prenatal and I feel great an

Suvine - I've been to that site before. What's funny is that my husband is actually very religious, but he doesn't try to make me believe what he does and we don't really get into debates about religion so we have no issues. Plus he's not part of any organized religion so he probably doesn't feel the need to convert me. It's not the belief that is the problem..it's when people feel the need for

volcomchick - I make my smoothie at 530am, put it in a Coleman cooler with a straw type mouthpiece and drink it all day. I usually have it finished by the end of my workday at 330. Of course I make about a 1000 calorie smoothie, so it's my breakfast and lunch. I find that it stay cold and doesn't separate and pretty much tastes delicious all day. I think if it was just in a plastic cup or someth

So I've told a few friends that I eat mostly raw foods. I've told even fewer that I'm pregnant. One of my friends, upon being told that I eat raw food, immediately started telling me how unhealthy it is and asking where I get my protein. I blew him off and told him I was fine, my protein was fine. I didn't feel like explaining it to him, I told him he could do his own research on how much prote

rost that is a good idea. After I ate those tacos yesterday I felt sick and tired for hours like I do every time anyway, so I felt really stupid about it. My stomach always gets bloated and painful when I eat meat, you think I'd learn. I think probably pulling that many things out of your diet all at once might be a bit much. I probably should have gone slower, but now that I know about raw I wan

I was wondered what iridology would mean for someone like me whose eyes change color on a daily basis and have since birth basically. My grandfather was the same way so I don't think that would mean it's due to some weird medical condition either. As far as the arguements over whether it is a real and valid practice or not..I'd have to say go with your own judgement. I personally think anyone

Oh I walked across the parking lot on my lunch break and went to baja fresh. I don't have any meat in the house whatsoever because I know if it's there I'll eat it. I made that decision a while ago, because that way if I want meat I have to go out and get it and pay way more for it than I would if I went to the grocery store. It's good logic most of the time especially since I'm pretty broke. I s

I am really struggling with staying raw lately. I've been having some intense cravings for ham sandwiches and things like feta cheese and pita bread. I did a really quick jump from meat eater and caffeine junkie to raw foodist and I think I might have pushed myself too hard. It probably would have been ok had I not gotten pregnant immediately after I made the switch, but detox with pregnancy crav

I should also mention that I have become sort of the crazy citrus lady in the neighborhood. We have an orange tree, but the rest of our citrus trees are just planted and have no fruit so far. I bug my neighbors and in laws to let me pick grapefruit, tangelos, lemons, limes, and tangerines from their tree. Most people have more than they can eat and don't mind at all. Free fruit is definitely the
