He's doing so good! We work together and I always take walks on my breaks and he goes to smoke. Today he came for a walk with me for the first time. I'm so proud of him! Between that and our citrus trees the have been producing tons and tons of fruit lately he is start to get so healthy so fast, I already see him losing weight and being a lot more happy and energetic due to raw foods.

I really know where you're coming from on this. It seems like ALL my friends smoke, including my husband and I've started getting quite fed up with it. After I quit smoking I started phasing it out at my house. I refused to go anywhere near my husband while he was smoking, I wouldn't let him smoke in my car, I wouldn't let him smoke in the car while I in it. I started purposely having friends ove

I cheat and buy frozen cherries...no pits! I make my breakfast smoothies at 530 in the morning so I'm big on saving time. I don't know about the health benefits but I definitely would not want to eat the pits just based on taste factor. Plus I don't have a Vitamix(yet) and I don't know how long my blender could handle that.

I've read some conflicting reports about these, but I really love making my morning smoothies from the frozen fruits I buy. It's a money saver and a time saver, especially since I don't have to pit the cherries myself! Some people have written that these are rinsed in extremely high temperature water, which makes me nervous. I don't want my frozen fruit to be dead! Has anyone else heard about th

One thing I will say...eating apples and peanut butter, celery and peanut butter and other things like that really helped me with transitioning. It's certainly better for you to be eating apples and peanut butter than a candy bar right?

I don't think it tastes good, but my husband loves to drink a mix of carrot and potato juice. He says it's delicious.

Before going raw I could easily sleep 10-12 hours and still be tired and lethargic all day long. Now I get about 7 hours of sleep and wake up ready to go ALL day. I'm still not 100% raw either! I've gained so many more hours in my day, it's just amazing.

I can't remember the brand(sorry!) but both of the Whole Foods by my house have raw tahini, raw almond, cashew, and walnut butter. They are delicious! Good luck!

gimpyq I saw that news report as well, it was so disturbing. It just confirmed my decision to never eat meat again. I have done some backsliding this month since I am new to raw food, but the more I read and watch the more determined I am to stick with it. I was in tears seeing what was done to those cows, my husband was really upset as well. Hopefully other people will learn from this incident

I actually don't think any the recipes I have are 100% raw. My husband has always been the cook so I will have to check with him. I know there is a way to make raw hummous, we just haven't tried it yet, cause we always eat it with pita bread and of course that won't work. Tahini can be made raw although we haven't liked any of the ones we've bought at the store so far. I think we're going to exp

I have been slowly transitioning for about 2 months now and I'm finally going 100% raw. I was a meat eater, smoker, drinker, caffeine and sugar junkie all the way. My husband and I ate out several times a week for dinner and that's not even counting the cafeteria food at work(boston market, quiznos, etc.) When I heard about raw foods it hit me like a bolt of lightning. I immediately knew that th

The way you feel after you eat a fast food meal should be indication enough that it's not good for you. After I eat a raw food meal I feel energized and invigorated and usually want to go get some exercise. When I used to eat fast food all I ever felt was tired and lethargic. Even when I ate that junk I knew it wasn't good for me, I was just addicted to it. Who would buy into that kind of stu

Hi Claire - How are you doing with your blood sugars? I would love to hear about how you are doing with diabetes and eating raw food. My best friend is diabetic and has suffered a large number of side effects in a relatively short time(10 years..blind, on dialysis, missing toes, hospitalized hundred's of times, etc) and I would to hear more about a diabetics experience with this. I think I will

Cracked wheat/wheat heart...wondering if it's raw. My husband is Lebanese and if I could tell him that Tabboule is raw he will be 100% raw in about 24 hours! He will eat tabboule all day every day if I make it for him and I sure don't mind making it if that's what it takes for him to be raw and happy.

Mmmm...I'm drinking my smoothie right now. I blend it up, put it in a big jug and drink it all day at work. My favorite is peaches, mangos, cherries, strawberries and bananas. This morning I realized I need a bigger blender!

Thanks everyone...lot of good answers. I have been reading this board nonstop for about a week now and the posts I read are very inspiring. gorillawar, that's exactly what I wanted to know. If they are still toxic when cooked for long periods of time I will have to settle for eating them cooked or not at all. I think they will probably be my one cooked food that I eat when I'm having a craving

I know we're not supposed to eat them raw but what about cooking them on 100 degrees for a really long time? They are one of my favorite foods and I keep falling off the wagon to eat them. Help!

Raisins are helping me in a big way right now. I having been craving sweets, especially all the little pieces of candy that I used to munch on every day and raisins seem to really work. Just my two cents. You will find what works for you in time, just try everything you can think of and eventually something will stick for you as a delicious raw snack. I make fruit smoothies(I just don't like t
