Hi roxeli, Maybe you can also tell your mom it's kind of like the 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegies a day recommended even by 'nutrition experts'. This is partly why I just don't tell folks I'm into raw foods. I'm not 100% yet anyway but whenever someone takes note of my diet I say I'm trying to increase my servings of produce. If I said much more they might get a straight jacket ready j

Jose, If you're out there I want to thank you for mentioning the book Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. I had been wanting to read it but was procrastinating. After you posted I went out & bought & read it. I also purchased it on audio book as a gift for someone else. Good book. Thanks again. Kit

Hi orangeflame, Definitely less mosquito action for me since changing my diet. I'm outside all the time & they used to devour me. Now I rarely ever get bitten. I couldn't be happier. Kit

kwan, yabba dabba doo! So glad to see you This story is fun. How well I know what it means to move such a pile by hand - done it many times and often wished for a machine to come and do it especially when weather is over 100 degrees or, as in the story, the material is wet. I know exactly what he means by "I like to exercise, but not work!". My suggestion to anyone who

Hi ambaryarena, Sympathies. I know it can be a real drag having to face the world while your face is breaking out. The main thing I have seen help others & that helped me when I had the problem is simple. Prism has already mentioned it, drink water. Not so much that you make yourself sick of course, but if you're not already doing it, try at least eight glasses a day. Don't just go for

Hi Pistachio, Yep, they are full blown trees. Leaves are light green most of the time and, as you can see, bright yellow in fall. Female trees have olive sized fruit that some folks eat. The smell of the fruit is not so great though and they can make a mess. Leaves have been used for tea too but, BTW, I would recommend looking such things up before ingesting. For strictly landscaping the mal

What the...Now kwan, didn't I make mention once that being the squeaky wheel isn't all hearts and flowers. What, you thought I was joshing? Thank goodness for some of the squeaky wheels through history. Without them where would we be? Your posts have been helpful to me with info about fasting and all kinds of things. I always feel comfortable towards you. Hopefully I'll run across you again.

What a lot of posts on here in the last few days since I was on! I'd like to read them all and respond to them all. But for now I'll just recommend a Christmas movie 'Joyeux Noel' (Merry Christmas in French). It's about Christmas Eve during WW1 based on some real events though I'm sure it's been changed a bit to fit into a movie. I saw it last Christmas - I believe it's spoken in French &am

uma, I love your new photo. There's something cozy about the blue glow on you and the smile too. This fall I've just discovered persimmons myself. All I'd ever done before was bake cookies w/ them one year. Who knew you could eat them plain like a ... like a fruit! I too went to a farmer's market out of town last weekend and bought some. But I only have a few or I'd join you on your feas

I have used the methods aquadecoco mentions and they work! I also tried something else that works. At a plant nursery I purchased a 2lb box of Dr. Earth brand kelp meal for 5.99. I resisted buying it for a while because I thought the name Dr. Earth was a trendy sales gimick. Anyway, the box lasts a long time, I sprinkle a teaspoon or so around plants before watering. My plants, especially t

Hi RawsomeButterfly, I love composting. One important thing I have found is to give it air throughout the pile, keep it kind of fluffy not compacted down. I stack brown layers which are mostly dried plant material and green layers which are moist plant material like green trimmings and kitchen produce scraps. Often I sprinkle very small layers of good soil here or there. I turn and moist

On PBS recently I watched 'Silence Of The Bees' about declining bee population. I walked away from it with the impression it was due mostly to pesticides but they wouldn't come right out and say that. I wondered if they were afraid to offend pesticide manufacturers. They did admit pesticides were the cause in an area of China. Kit

Hi kwan, Very interesting post. Isn't it nice to know the light is there. This is hopeful since it sounds like the light is always there no matter what wall we may have. I like your description 'thicket of thoughts'. I can picture it and relate. The trick for me is as you say 'If we step out of the shadows of our thoughts'. Yay, lets do it! Oh but how? If it is always shining then it must

Hi wrenbrrd, Perfectionism...why must some of us do that to ourselves? So you are not eating perfectly pure, oh well. But dont give up. You can only do what you can do. And you can still progress. How many things in the world have not gone perfectly but have still made headway? I understand frustration when things are not as you think they should be. Just be a crazy wrenbrrd and proceed an
