Thanks for the heads up. I'd love to buy each of my loved ones a copy. I just can't convince the fam that processed foods are damaging to their health.

Hi Fuzzy. I remember you. It's good that you came back here to post. When we post, we write down our feelings, hopes, goals, disappointments, etc., and causes us to examine ourselves. If you read your post, all your answers are right there in front of you. Even veteran raw foodists have setbacks. Many of our veteran raw fooders have gone through these setbacks before they finally got

Coconut milk is an excellent suggestion. Also, wheatgrass has been successfully used in place of blood transfusions. It is almost identical to human hemoglobin and is a good blood builder. Like most greens, it contains iron. You can buy frozen cubes of wheatgrass at health food stores. You can either drink them thawed as shots or add them to fruit smoothies. Flax seeds are an excellent

I juice daily and I love it. I'm totally digging romaine, parsely, carrot, and apple. Part of my daughter's protocol to restore hormonal balance requires the daily juicing of greens. We juice about 6 times per day. We also make green smoothies. Thankfully, she's showing signs of improvement. And me, I'm looking leaner and more ripped with each month. My fat percentage is dropping and i

Herbal teas are delicious, especially in cold weather. I think herbal teas are just dried herbs in a teabag. I don't consider them to be a harmful processed food at all. On the contrary, I consider them to be medicinal and beneficial. I also enjoy water heated up and plain.

This morning I did my 45 minutes of Turbo Jam (cardio kickboxing), which I do 6 times a week. I also did my pushups and tricep dips. Tomorrow is strength training day using my new set of hand weights. Can't wait to break them in.

I can respect that Ronnie Coleman has worked very hard and as a result has achieved his dream. Yup, I surely can respect that. I just don't see an advantage in bulking up like that, or a purpose for that matter. I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just saying I don't understand it. I've been giving this a lot of thought. Imagine Ronnie Coleman and Richard Blackman living in an unexplored

If you decide to water fast, make sure you have plenty of warm blankets. We all know how cold we can feel during a fast. The coldest I've ever felt was a three day juice fast during a heatwave one summer. If I were in your situation, I would probably heat up my water and drink it warm like a tea. I'd also have tons of blankets over me and my dogs at my feet to keep me warm. I hope th

Luvyuu, I totally can relate to what you're saying. My daughter has a lot of health concerns and I don't have health insurance. I can't help but feel that it should be every person's god given right to have free health care. It's not treatment that I seek for my daughter, as much as we need lab work and testing. I would love to send her to a wellness clinic. I wish there were grants

Ronnie Coleman, back view: Does anyone find this attractive? I don't. In all fairness to this thread, and for comparison purposes ONLY, we need a back view of Richard Blackman. LOL LOL LOL jk I'm just tryng to add a little humor to everyone's day. I'm giddy from eating oranges all day.

I think Richard Blackman and Storm Talifero both have the ideal male physiques. I think healthy, lean, and muscular looks better and seems more natural. Those overly bulky individuals with veins ripping is overkill IMO. Those bodies are rarely, if ever, a naturally occurring body type. I can't help but think about the tribal people we see on National Geographic. They are lean and muscula

I'm probably a wall flower 80% of the time and participating only 20%. I love contributing when I have something to contribute. I'm one of those people that only opens her mouth when she's 100% sure of what she's saying. I'm still new to raw so I'm limited in my knowledge and experience. However, I contribute if I think I have something that might be of value to someone else. For instance,

Thanks everyone. It feels good to know we're on the right path. Suvine, You would know if your hormones are NOT in balance. When hormones are not in balance, females will experience many symptoms such as irregular periods, heavy and painful periods, fertility problems, acne, oily skin, oily hair, dandruff, hair loss, low energy, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and weight problems, just to

Update to my daughter's health! I am happy to report that my daughter's menstrual cycle was on time again for the 3rd month in a row. I hope this is not too much information, BUT, this may help other females out there who are encountering the same problem. We're still on a high green diet and still adding frozen wheatgrass to smoothies. We're also doing 24 hour fasts every week, and a 3

Me too! Me too! I want to say hello to Coco too! "Hi Coco!" The most productive days are the ones when I don't turn on my Mac. If this economy gets any worse, my internet will be the next thing to go. But I do love my internet for research purposes. Tons of information out there and I means to read it all. We grew loofah back in Nicaragua in our backyard. It was my job to

I am very interested in the effects of chlorophyll on the human body. I've read a lot about it and have my daughter on a high chlorophyll diet to restore hormonal balance. We're starting to see some improvements that are very very encouraging. I would definitely consider using liquid chlorophyll instead of a blood transfusion.

My concern with one meal a day is, would that create blood sugar spikes? Your sugar could become low and then suddenly spike after you eat. Are you doing this short term and resting all day as done with a fast? Because if you have to go about regular daily activities on one meal, you might not be getting enough calories for the amount of activity you'll be doing. I don't understand how ea

I have pomegranate stains all over my Mac screen. I have 2 friends who have trees and are bringing me pomegranates. I love them. I eat them while I'm on my Mac but I've made such a mess. They are one of the messiest fruits to eat but they contain a high level of antioxidants and, well, they're good. I've had 8 pomegranates in just 3 days. How many have you had this season?

Interesting. Pineapple IS used for face peels. "Papaya and pineapple are two of the most popular fruits used in natural peels since they are both a rich source of AHAs. Both fruits contain a protein-dissolving enzyme that sloughs off dead cells and stimulates collagen production. In papaya, this enzyme is papain, and in pineapple, it is bromelain. Sometimes, other sources of AHAs are use

If only I had a dollar for every time I burned the corners of my lips with pineapple. The last time I got pineapple burns, I started thinking that pineapple would make an excellent face peel. I've yet to try it though but it seems like it would work. Who wants to be the first to try it?

I thought the point of this thread was "How has the economy affected our raw food lifestyle," and not "whether or not our health is worth the the cost." My family's health is definitely worth it. But my husband lost his job and was out of work for 6 months. He finally found another job but he's now making $10.00 less per hour than his previous job. That is a drastic decr

Not too brag or anything, BUT, I live in the California Central Valley. That means I get fresh produce all year long. I'm literally surrounded by almond orchards. Also a lot of peaches, nectarines, plums, grapes, corn, cherries, strawberries, oranges, lemons, onions, garlic, etc, etc. etc. I haven't seen any California mangoes yet. I'll have to keep my eyes open for some.

I'm grateful for my spellchecker. Apparently, I've been mispelling cantaloupe all my life. I was spelling it cantelope, LOL, just like antelope, LOL. So yeah, that red underline is my best friend.
