Yes, I love mangoes! I've been eating a mango and butter lettuce salad for the past week or so and it is sooo good. Even my BF (not raw or vegan) loves it! I also don't eat greens everyday. I've gone weeks without having any. That said, I do eat non-sweet fruits almost everyday.

These look very similar to the Tuscan melons they have at my Costco from time to time, which are absolutely delicious (even better than musk melons, actually).

I've only tried jakfruit (awesome!), dragonfruit (don't remember), and kumquats (yuck, too sour). The African cucumber looks crazy!

Not all raw foodists eat the same foods. You will find many recipes online and in books containing ingredients like cacao, oil, salt, spices, etc. yet there are many of us raw vegans who do not consume these foods. Personally, I stick to a low fat, high fruit raw vegan diet as opposed to the higher fat, vegetable-focused, mainstream raw food diet.

I'm assuming by Florida avocados you mean the large green ones, also called "Slimcados" in some supermarkets? Trive is right, they are not as creamy and rich as the Hass avocado, which is because they are not quite as high in fat. According to nutridiary.com, CA avos are 77% fat while FL avos are 69% fat. Personally, I prefer the Hass variety.

Great vid! I went to Planet Raw (aka Juliano's Raw) in Santa Monica last night. The food was very tasty and really beautifully presented, but I did not feel great afterward. I was tired, numbed, dehydrated, and had a slight headache. The food was just too high in fat, too salty, and poorly combined (sugar and fat). It's fine for a once in a while thing, but it's definitely not a sustainable,

Glad you liked it! That said, it's definitely not optimal in terms of fat content. A mono-fruit meal, fruit smoothie, fruit salad, etc. would be better.

Great info! You should definitely check out the book Human Diet: Its Origin and Evolution, which talks a lot about the detrimental effects of replacing fruits and veggies (predominantly fruits) with cereal grains.

I would be careful combining melon with other foods. Tender leafy greens are fine, but really anything else can lead to indigestion (even other fruits). Melons are just so water-rich and so digest really quickly.

There is some nutrient loss from freezing, but it is minimal. The main concern is eating food while frozen. This can affect your intestinal flora, which can also affect B12 absorption, if regularly practiced. But eating frozen fruits and veggies on occasion won't hurt. A nice cold smoothie of bananas and frozen blueberries is great when it's 100+ degrees outside (like it has been here in

1. If you eat a diet predominated by sweet fruit, with moderate amounts of greens and non-sweet fruits and limited amounts of overt fats (e.g. avocado, nuts, seeds), you will get enough EFAs. Olive oil is a highly refined product (it's nothing but pure fat), but is okay if used in small quantities (i.e. 1 tablespoon). 2. I eat 3 times a day, sometimes 4 depending upon how many calories I am c

Stevia is certainly better than most sweeteners, but it's still a refined product. When I do make recipes, I much rather use whole ingredients like dates or apple. Plus, I think it tastes terrible and chemically.

As far as basil goes, I don't have a pesto recipe, but it is great with tomatoes and raw pistachios. Just take a slice of tomato, top with a basil leaf and one pistachio nut (or any favorite nut) and eat. If you pig out on tomatoes like I do, then your basil will be gone in no time. Also, Frederic Patenaude recently mentioned having a banana-blueberry-BASIL smoothie in Czech Republic. Soun

Tender leafy greens (e.g. romaine, iceberg, mesculin, boston lettuce) digest very well with all fruits. Cucumber and celery also digest well with fruits. The 3 combinations to avoid are sugar and fat (e.g. dates and avocado), starch and acid (e.g. bananas and oranges), and fat and fat (e.g. avocado and pistachios). The sugar-fat combo is the main one. One more: melon is best eaten by itse

In The 80/10/10 Diet, Dr. Graham does qualify the fitness requirement a little bit: "I suggest that a healthy athletic person should utilize at least as many calories in physical endeavors as they use for their resting BMR. (Resting Matabolic rate is equivalent to 10 times your ideal body weight). This means, for instance, that a 150-pound man who uses 1,500 calories as his baseline shou

The best thing for my skin has been drinking more water. I went from about 1 liter to 3-4 liters each day and my skin is much more hydrated. I don't even have to skin brush anymore.
