Hi. I believe cocoa powder has had most of it's cocoa butter removed. In cacao powder the butter is in there, so it is not the same. Better chocolates have extra cocoa butter added, so maybe cocoa powder is a byproduct they can sell for less.

I think they say you need to do it for a while to see an effect. I tried it a couple of times. I found it hard not to swallow the oil. It did seem to make my teeth a little whiter.

Ya, I heard the first lady a number of times promoting healthy eating (more fruits and vegetables). But I guess it's a case of do as I say, not as I do. Because last week on the nbc tv special, where they followed around the president, the president went to lunch at a place called Five guys burgers and fries. They sell the greasiest, highest fat content hamburgers you ever tasted. The bags th

I don't know if garlic and onions are good or bad. But if you start listening to all the people who claim something is bad, there is not going to be much (raw foods) left to choose from. Moderation is the key, until there is real proof a food is bad.

hi. i agree with david, I have a lightweight long sleeve t-shirt and pants, that i sprayed with deet. I keep it a plastic bag when not in use. I use them when I go out to pick my tomatoes. It does work pretty well. You could try just a tank top or something (with deet) and wear it on top of your other clothes. As far as not biting because your raw, I don't believe that.

OMG thanks for the link David. Just thinking of all the cakes, over the years, I watched my mom make with the homemade goodness of some freshly grated orange rind (which contains an added carcinogen). And I thought, fresh fruit was an unprocessed food, jokes on me. Well I guess in the end corporate America is going to win, and kill must of us.

This week on Real Time With Bill Maher, when speaking with Michael Pollan, Maher said oranges are picked green and then injected with dye, implying that the fruit is immature and that is the reason for so much acid. Anybody know if this is true?

If you remember the taste of fruit from many years ago, it's hard to be satisfied by what is now generally available. Pineapples used to be golden all over, ripe strawberries were soft and practically melt in your mouth (but then again they would also be rotten by the next day or two, but because they taste so good they were almost always gone the same day in my house).

I believe many use salt in place of dehydrating to soften raw vegetables.

Hi. I would wash everything. I eat the apple and the grape seeds.(but I eat at most 3 apples a day) I don't eat the cherry pits or the seeds from citrus, but I sometimes see a lemon seed get into my salad, I don't worry about looking for it.

Hi. Do you eat store bought raisins, dates, dried tomatoes etc.? If so, how do you know that they have gone threw drying, storage and shipping, all below 115 °F (46 °C) ? Raw food books are always listing these as part of their recipes. Thanks.

Hi. I once read "most organic farmers use manures for fertilizer. So where would these manures come from if everyone was an organic vegan?" we all just do the best we can.

Hi. I don't know the answer to your question, but I've had kidney stones and I have some advice for you. First keep hydrated, because if you dry out the stone is more likely to create a urine blockage, and as you may already know, the pain from that is incredible. Second have Percocet or some other really strong pain med on hand. In case you have to go to the ER, don't count on them giving a

Hi. Maybe it's because I've only been raw for 4 months, but I find it helpful to tell people around me that I'm a raw vegan. Now I don't try to convert anyone, but when it comes to eating situations out of the house, It seems like their always looking at what I'm eating, and that helps me from cheating.

hi. I've been raw for 4 months and have yet to meet any friend or family that didn't think this was nuts. But I understand, they have not read the science, and 10 years ago I too would have made fun of someone (behind their back) telling me their a raw vegan.

I use the One-quart wide mouth mason jars. For the lid, netting with a rubber band will work but after a while you'll want something better. They sell a green plastic ring lid with stainless steel mesh, but it did not fit the jars (I bought at walmart). So I used just the mesh part with the original metal rings from the jars. Also you can cut your own mesh circles out of the mesh plastic they

I've had them. To me they taste almost the same as a lara bar, although in most flavors I prefer lara bar. In Raw Revolution I like the hazel nut flavor. Amazon used to sell them really cheep, but not anymore.

wendysmiling, I grind the nibs and add coconut, coconut oil, grind flax seeds, stevia, dates, tiny pinch of salt, pinch of instant coffee, few drops of vanilla. it tastes ok to me, not great, but stops me from eating bad alternatives, plus it's filling.

Has anyone else watched this video and though it was a joke? He goes on and on and on saying how unhealthy cacao is, but gives no credible reasons himself or at the other websites he sends you to. He equates cacao a raw food to a processed drug cocaine. He says cacao contains high levels of saturated fat, I learned that saturated fat from plants was good for you, like coconut oil. He says ra

Hi. I've been eating about 90% raw vegan (working towards 98%) for like the last 4 months. 95% of which is NOT organic. Can anyone please reply with how much of the health benefits I could expect on this raw vegan non-organic diet. I realize this is an impossible question, but any insight or personal experiences are appreciated. THANKS
