BW - if you're ever in the market for another thermos you might look at kleen kanteen brand. I got one for my hubby & he loves it. Keeps tea hot for 6+ hours and he says it doesn't leak at all. No metallic taste either.

I have the same problem BW. Headache, irritates eyes, and messed up hair for days. But I swim anyway because I like the easy & fun exercise. Plus the kids would revolt if I dont take them to the pool. On those rare occasions we get to go to a pool treated with salt instead of chlorine, it's such a huge treat. I actually feel so much more refreshed after swimming in a salt pool - no headache

Workout man, what do you mean by adrenal herbs? Do you mean a certain type of supplement or simply eating more of specific fresh cullinary herbs. Thanks for the input. I hadnt made the connection between the adrenals & kidneys, but it makes sense.

i've been reading up on the mri contrast gadolinium. it's supposed to be safe for people without renal problems because the substance gets eliminated by the kidneys before it can do any real harm to the body. agree? disagree? so i'm wondering if there's any way to super charge the kidney's to help them detox immediately after an mri with contrast? any ideas?

thanks for the info, littlemermaid. glad to know it gets mixed with water. HH, I was thinking of using small amounts of DE or clay daily to combat daily exposure to environmental toxins & radiation that I can't eliminate. But you raise an excellent point, I don't know how the clay scrubs out bad toxins and leaves nutrients. I read something about DE particles being negatively charged a

Thanks, WY. I looked at the websight, think I'll order some tomorrow. So I guess i'm supposed to literally eat the dirt? Not trying to be funny... just trying to wrap my head around the concept. Residual traditional western thinking is hard to let go of. Coincidentally, I recently started growing my own wheatgrass too. Amazing stuff! Nothing feels quite like it. How do you use the clay

I have been reading lately about the detox benefits of eating clay or diatomaceous earth. Do any of you do this? Where do you get it - do you have a favorite brand or supplier? Does it have to be food grade or will my aquarium supply suffice (I'm only half kidding)? Is it a pill or do you mix it into a smoothie or really just sit down to a big ole pile of clay? Please share your experience &

Prana - thanks for the suggestions. I'll try adding more of the foods you mentioned and see if I can back off the Braggs a bit. Funny thing is, almost as soon as I wrote my last post my Braggs usage declined dramatically. Either my body finally got enough of whatever it craved in Braggs or I subconsciously think 'hydrochloride acid' every time I use it. LOL

Sorry for the negativity earlier. And thank you Prana for the good info. It gives me something to thnk about. I think for now I'm keeping it in my diet... I've already made huge dietary changes this year and I feel like I need Braggs in my life right now. Maybe it's a crutch, but sometimes I'm certain it's the only thing keeping me vegan. So I'm ok with it for now until I find a better alternativ

I'm with you BW. I can't live without it either. I use it every single day. Does anyone know how tamari compares to Braggs for sodium content. I made the comparison once to regular soy sauce and thought Braggs was much lower sodium, but then just yesterday I noticed the serving size for Braggs is only a half teaspoon. So now I'm wondering if I shouldn't moderate my use a little. (REALLY don't

Shoreroad said: "I'm having a hard time working sprouts in. So far I've only used them in salads (which I see will get played out quick) and today I diced broccoli, pea, and alfalfa sprouts in a guacamole, which was a nice change. I like the bean sprouts and the pea shoots, but the rest not so much so I'm going to need to mask them. " Hi Shoreroad. I was having that trouble too, bu

So have you ever eaten the leaves off a ginko biloba tree? I was having a picnic under a ginko tree today and reached up and grab a handful to snack on. I know youre supposed to dry them, but i'd read in a foraging article that they are good fresh too. After 30 mins I felt amazing... i mean ridiculously happy. Is this normal?

That's funny Panchito. I get that question from the produce guys and register clerks at my grocery store. "What do you do with all that kale... spinach... apples... carrots...?" Last week as soon as I came in, the produce guy saw me and then vanished into the back room. A few minutes later he came back out with a fresh supply of kale for me. We both laughed about that.

I made pumkin pie from a fresh pumkin once many years ago. That was before i knew there was a difference between a carving pumkin & one meant to be eaten. It was a lot of work - carving, chopping, boiling & mashing, but fun. Weird thing is... i've never liked pumkin so I didnt eat even a bite of that pie. I wonder if I'll learn to like pumkin now that my taste buds have changed?

Hi Arazor & welcome to the forum. In addition to missing the savory flavor of meat like Jgunn explained - you might also be craving fat. You can sate that craving be adding a bit of avocado or nuts & seeds into your diet. Substituting a good healthy fat may make transition easier for your body and help you get to a place where you don't miss the meat anymore. Best of luck to you on

Those cheap (and fairly dull) pumpkin carving tools you buy in the halloween section actually work pretty well. You saw all the way around it untill you get it in half. Works for acorn, butternut, & spaghetti squash too. yipee! Pumpkin seeds!

NGU - as far as i know there is no way to tell if a product is gmo currently becausethe FDA doesn't require that GMO's be labeled in the States yet. Please consider taking a few moments to visit www.justlabelit.org to sign a petition requesting that the FDA require that GMO products must be labeled in the US. Better yet, write your congressmen a personal letter voicing your opinion. I've read

That's fantastic news! Way to Go, hiddenfang! From your post it sounds like you have kids doing raw too... how are they loving it? Jalan - Forks Over Knives is available on Netflix and Amazon. I thought 'Forks' was more informative than 'Food Inc.' It's the one that brought my spouse over to the raw side.

I think I've posted this before but here it is again for anyone who's interested. Wal-Mart sells BT corn, corn that makes its own pesticide in every cell and explodes the stomachs of bugs, in the fresh produce section. No label or anything. I can't believe it's not a crime!

Well crap! I guess I can chuck my calcium supplements. Now, what to replace them with. I read that blackstrap molasses has a good bit of calcium - 400 mg per 2 Tablespoons. Does anyone know how easily calcium is absorbed from molasses? Also - does the FDA take into account the low absorbtion rate of such nutrients when they determine the RDA? Does anyone know how they come up with those nu

Hi LaV, This was orignially posted by Horsea back in July. The bits I was referring to are way at the bottom in the "Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Health" Section. Here's a brief snippit... << The percentage of respondents reporting a “good” or “excellent” mental/emotional/spiritual state after transitioning to a live foods diet rose in all categories surveyed

I'm curious to learn about this subject too. For now I still take the calcium supplements my Doc recommended years ago. But I still can't help but suspect that a vegan wouldn't have the same calcium requirements as an omnivore. It makes me wonder if there are other nutritional requirements that are different for vegans. John Rose, I'd love to hear your opinion.
