Regarding ethylene, I just received a gift -- a plastic egg that
contains materials to absorb ethylene. You just place it in
produce drawer in the refridgerator. Don't know where it was
purchased but it's a clever concept.

Hi, Siracusa
When I began raw foods two years ago this month, I had
obvious signs of rheumatoid arthritis in my fingers
especially - swollen joints, pain.. It so upset me
hands in good shape are vital to my profession. I also
had a lot of mucus and annoying infections. First I
cut out dairy(was eating yoghurt at that time) and grains,
anything sauteed, used olive oil sp

Hey, Alex
I have an enormous bunch of each right now, rapidly
disappearing. I enjoy using the collards as wrappers
for wraps:
Fill it with avocado or young coconut meat,
fresh lime or lemon juice
Add mango or papaya slices, a little cumin
or slivers of red or yellow pepper, sprouts, etc.
or untoasted nori sheets as an inner wrapper

An angel, Arugula. And while she was alive, we shared bunches
of arugula together. A short time after my grandmother's
passing, she visited me in a dream. Basically, she told me
to eat raw foods and warned about packaged foods. I began
researching papaya, what she told me to eat.
Reading about the strong digestive enzymes in papaya, I
search more on enzymes and serendipi

Cinnamon might as well be my middle name. I make the same
potpourri!! Sometimes I add orange or lemon peels, cloves..
The pie sounds glorious. When I was eating cooked I once
made 8 granny smith pies from scratch in the middle of the
middle of the night for a pot luck breakfast. To think I
lost a night's sleep when I could've made heavenly raw pies

La_veronique, my apologies if I confused poets. Sorry
to singinraw if those are your words. I celebrate
both your presences here.
Jade, your beautiful poem summoned a stream of thoughts
that led to new creations, thank you.
I was thinking today that discovering nature each
day is greatly my happiness. Took a few hours to
see a small nature preserve. Met a magnificent

A child asked the song bird in the tree:
"Birdie, why are you so full of joy?" The
bird responds, "I do not sing because I'm
happy. I am happy because I sing."
............................................
Don't worry if it's not good enough for
anyone else to hear. Just sing, sing a song....

I have so much energy after a carton of organic cherry tomatoes
I don't know what to do with it. And yes, so happy!
To quote you, La V: Green

You posted that almost a year ago and it became my
mantra throughout the first months of going raw.
I love you all!!!!

Hi, you mentioned vegetables agree with you better than
fruits. I used to get headaches when mixing fruit and
nuts. Fat and fruit (esp. acid fruit) is a combination
you might want to avoid (maybe you know this already).
The fruit should be easier to digest once you have it
alone, esp. melons, papaya, pineapple. These have
very strong digestive enzymes. The fruit digests so

Yes, the pears are gorgeous! The Asian pears can be
tricky. Seems key to get the deep ochre colored ones..
the lighter golden still has great crisp but minus
the honey sweetness that bursts from the ones with
more color.
What I enjoy most about finding the good apples is
the glisten of the ones most densely compact -- a
kind of edible diamond. And

I notice also the difference in taste when that
pink hue graces golden delicious skin. It's
the shade I look for when I'm picking at the
orchard.
It's wonderful how being raw hones your intuition
about the best produce to choose! It seems
certain pieces of glow more than others if you
look at a carton of them.
Enjoy...

Brome, what an enlightening read, thank you!
I never even thought of the origin of apples.
Wonderful to know they're from Kazakhstan and
that all the varieties stem from Red Delicious
and Golden Delicious.

Yes, I join you in the celebration of the apple harvest!!!!
I'm usually the first one picking at my favorite apple farms
upstate. I love the photo of your angel and the poetic words!
For me, I live for golden delicious, gala, and fuji. The
nuances of flavor in each one are more apparent now that I'm
on the raw diet. Spheres of heaven.
So glad there's another with my passi

I ordered from them once and they are the most reasonable I've
found. They're some of the loveliest people I've met... operate
on an honor system. You can send a check after the delivery
arrives! Just met them in person at Raw Spirit Fest in Arizona.
They gave tons of free samples to everyone. My favorite are
the Medjool variety. You can't go wrong with any selection..

In reference to Sunshine79's mention of citrus and
dark greens, a great way to unite them is a green
smoothie of:
2 Mangos
4-5 leaves of kale or romaine
some squirts of fresh lime juice (optional)
purified water to taste
.............................................
Blend the mangoes first, then add the greens.
As it's blending until smooth, add the wa

Innerview, Somatics sounds wonderful. I'll look into that too.
The network method showed results most when I felt in sync with
the doctor, responding to her instructions with all my focus.
For example, if she asked me to breath into a certain area of
the spine, she could tell if I was doing this effectively or
not. The more open and alert I was the better the session.

About two months into switching to fully raw, the spots in my eyes
disappeared. At that time they were more brown than hazel and
now they're all hazel. I eat fruit, green smoothies by day, big
salads at night.

A wonderful way to satisfy a sweet tooth is with frozen
medjool dates (tastes just like caramel) or banana
ice cream. Just peel lots of bananas, cut them in slices,
freeze in freezer bags, and whenever the craving comes
just blend this in the cuisinart of blender. You can
add vanilla bean for a deeper sweetness. Fresh ginger
and key lime juice is amazing in this! If you don'

Hi, Nicole
I also send wishes for rapid recovery. Here's what worked
for me when I had back problems a year ago. Yoga, pineapple
(as mentioned before -- but I eat it whole or blended with
banana), and a great 'network' chiropractor. If you're not
familiar with this kind of practice, the doctor works through
channeling and hardly touches you. After one week, I was
walking upri

Maybe this has to do with white blood cell count increasing
when cooked food enters the body? I stopped drinking milk
many years ago and the mucus went away soon after. As Bryan
mentions, I trust my personal experience over anything else.
Thanks for bringing this up. I used to think the connection
between dairy and mucus was in my imagination. It's
good to know others have the same ex
