I just saw this amazing documentary at my university entitled House of Numbers. It not only challenges our definition and perception of HIV and AIDS, but also reaches dramatic conclusions on the connections between the HIV/AIDS diagnosis and poverty, lifestyle choices and pharmaceutical drug use. Take a look at the website and please, please try and see it.

I do have a netti (sp?) pot and was thinking I would try and use that. I have been to Marlene's and yes, it does seem to be just about it. I picked up some Floradix there the other day so I was happy to have at least one natural foods store! Thanks for your thoughts. I will definitely try the wheatgrass idea as well.

I've been raw for over a year now. I've lived my whole life in the suburbs of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. I just moved about six weeks ago to Tacoma, WA (about 40 minutes south of Seattle) and I have been SICK! At first I thought it was just adjusting to living in a dorm with lots of other kids (I am in college-- and my roomate smokes cigarettes, etc). But I have continued to have head-cold

This is so funny! My mom just put dill on our salads last night and I was like, "Oh my GOD! What is that?!" It tasted fabulous. I just haven't had it in a long time so I didn't recognize it...Great suggestion for the salads, though!

Umm...quite honestly, I don't think asking to eat 1/4 of an avocado without having the whole left side of my face break out is asking too much... I've started taking a blend of liver helping herbs (turmeric, milk thistle, dandelion, etc) and this seems to be helping A LOT-- no new acne since I started it 3 days ago and everything is healing nicely... I understand your point, Witarianin, bu

Thanks bellefleur-- could you give the specifics of what you took on the liver diet? I would greatly appreciate it! Did you avoid particular foods? (Other than fats, alcohol, drugs...) Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I went to a healthfood store and bought a blend of milk thistle, dandelion, and other herbs...Hopefully this will help...The lemon and hot water idea I have heard of before too. Unfortunately it's sleeting in Minnesota now..so no signs of nettles here... Thanks guys. Any other suggestions welcome... Does anyone have experience having a hard time digesting fa

Hi guys-- I have been raw going on a year but think my liver might still be experiencing a toxic state--not sure why exactly--I don't (and didn't drink) or engage in rec. drugs...but a few things have tipped me off ( I think) - ionic foot bath during which I excreted A LOT of bile-looking-like, brownish, orange foam-y disgustingness - after consuming 1/4 of an avocado two days in a row follo

I know it's emotionally very jarring. But we need these realizations. I turned vegetarian in 7th grade after seeing an especially disturbing anti-KFC video on PETA. After that-- it was just a progression to all raw. Oh, what I eat. Well, right now I'm juice feasting-- so not the greatest example...but I usually have a big salad for dinner and fruit for breakfast/lunch...It doesn't have to be c

Question for you all: Do you eat less frequently but more in quantity at one time or more frequently less quantity? Or less frequently, less quantity? I guess what I'm trying to get at is if anybody has: Any experience with how different styles of eating effect your digestion?

Check out www.goneraw.com It's a good resource for "transitioning" recipes-- most recipes are all raw, but have more fats, or rawify certain foods like chocolate, rice, cakes...etc. Also check out www.rawdorable.blogspot.com Check out Shannonmarie's recent recipes for donuts and girlscout cookies. I'm not joking! Girlscout cookies...pretty crazy. Hope this helps. Another blo

ahh! Okay I was eating some pineapple using a metal fork earlier when I chomped down on the fork instead of the pineapple! It's not a big chip, just a little chip out of my right front tooth. I didn't even realize it at first and it doesn't hurt. Suggestions? I'm hoping it will heal itself? Or at least smooth itself out? Anybody have experiences with this?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've been using the iodine and it's working really well...I can tell it's clearing up some problem areas. I bought a loofa today and I'm excited to try that out too. I've decided to cut out all dried fruits and oils-- I think I didn't realize how much dried fruit I was eating. I'm really excited to get a juicer too...that should help me eat lightly and speed the de

Would you suggest doing a green smoothie feast for two or three days to see if that clears things up? That sounds really appealing to me right now.

I do have a shower filter. I use a mix of non-toxic and toxic products-- I don't have total control over what my parents buy, but have influenced them in the dishwashing detergent department at least. I don't think the oils are bad-- my skin always looks better after using the Morrocco Method oil-- it has been recommended on this site before by sciencegal if I remember correctly (could be som

I don't use any salad dressing. The dried fruits are probably not raw as they come from the co-op but are not labeled sundried. I don't use garlic, onions, salt, herbs, etc on a regular basis at all. Very rarely. I think I may have some candida, over eating on overt fats issues. I find I must stay away from overt fats generally, and if I do start eating them I have a hard time stopping. Althou

I do worry that when I eat overt fats-- I eat them too close to fruits and that my combining is bad. I know that this can be an issue for acne, but again what confuses me is that there have been times for which I have NO overt fats for weeks and still had acne, and then other times where I have eaten overt fats and still had acne. Oh and I forgot that I did have a piece of cake at my Grandmoth

I usually start with a green smoothie of spinach with bananas and a frozen fruit of some kind. For lunch sometimes it's just apples, or a salad I brought, or nothing... then an after school snack of fruit or dried fruit. For dinner usually another salad or green smoothie. I snack on fruits, veggies too. I really eat 100% raw, no gum, candy, whatever. Very little nuts or processed raw stu

I'm 100% raw and went so from the start. Thanks for the iodine suggestion-- I'll pick some up today. I eat fresh produce, salads, green smoothies on a regular basis. I eat very little processed raw, nuts, fats, etc-- I notice these tend to make me break out. Through the fall I was drinking 4 Liters of water a day for a while-- but it did not help, which is why I think I need to cleanse. I now

Hi all- Well I've been raw for almost a year now...but my acne has persisted. I don't think I'm very clean inside or I am still holding onto some toxic junk inside that's not cleansing out through raw foods alone. This has been confirmed by a local raw foods esthetician. In fact I think I may have gone raw "too fast" with little time for my body to adjust... So I'm dying to cleanse.

I highly recomend "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" (and the sequel as well). It is most intellectually stimulating! And quite high-quality entertainment if I do say so myself.

Anyone have a recipe for raw aloo gobi? It's an Indian dish made normally with cauliflower and potato and Indian spices like cumin, tumeric, ginger, garlic... I'm missing it big time this winter-- I guess I really miss the cooked cauliflower and the texture of raw cauliflower really turns me off.... suggestions? Thank you!
