Thanks David. That really helps. Um, pardon my ignorance here but... By "fibrous" fruits you mean oranges, tangerines, (cherimoyas maybe?); with "non-fibrous" being apples, grapes, melon...berries? (or, wait, kinda seedy though). Come to think of it apples are pretty high fiber too, but it's soluble...is that the distinction? Yikes!! 20 years of plant-based eating..

"Thanks for that post about the Edgar Cayce apple fast Lanie, I look forward to checking it out" veggiefreak: You're very welcome. "For my perspective, mono-eating means to eat just one fruit/veggie....of one type....from one batch...until full....and wait till it has exited the stomach before eating again." davidzanemason: How do I know when it's exited my stomac

This is just more of the same nonsense touted in the video on that other thread. "Celio Doyle said doctors don't diagnose orthorexia because it's not recognized as a medical disorder, and therefore, research about orthorexia is limited." Of course doctors don't diagnose it as a medical disorder because...HELLO...it's not!! What next?

I make my own flax milk, which I drink along with different fruits during the course of the morning/mid-day to no ill effects. Usually apples, pears, oranges, tangerines, berries (when in season), and the occasional few raisins or date.

Apples are my mono food of choice, and seem to make my body happiest. I love oranges but they never leave me feeling satiated like apples do. Also the acid tends to upset my stomach if I eat too much. I did the Edgar Cayce 3-Day apple fast (which I learned about from this forum in fact) and absolutely LOVED it. I feel like it did more to detox and heal my body than 10 days on the Master Clea

You're right Bryan. I know I shouldn't take this drivel personally, but still, it's hard not to. I've lost three beautiful women friends to eating disorders; one from a massive heart attack caused by severe electrolyte imbalance at 29, and the other two to suicide, the most recent just this past year. Bulimia and anorexia kill...not plant-based organic food. The fact that I switched to thi

Pardon my French but, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!! Not to mention INCREDIBLY offensive. Especially for those of us who have seriously suffered from a REAL eating disorder, which I can tell you is infinitely more damaging (and in my case almost lethal) than making sure what we eat is good for both our bodies and the earth...or at the very least not destructive. And, OMG, actually PLAN what you'

I don't know about anyone else but just the thought of veggies and sprouts on an empty stomach kinda makes me feel queasy. Might just be a matter of getting used to though like most things I guess. I've enjoyed a plant-based diet going on 20 years now, which for me has tended to pretty consistently involve fruit in the mornings, more fruit midday with some form of nut and/or seeds (milk, bu

Thanks sapphire. Never thought of that but makes sense. For a progressive city like mine, with all the farmers markets, co-ops and vegan eateries, I'd be surprised if someone doesn't carry the stuff. Great idea!! I'll check it out this weekend. Shalom, ~lanie "Beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing lies a field. I'll meet you there." ~Rumi

I contacted the suppliers in Texas from FunkyRob's link as their website is still under construction. Of course, they'll happily ship me as much aloe vera as I'd like, though I'd much prefer a less petrol wasting way to purchase the plant. Living in San Francisco may not leave me much choice though, other than to forgo the item altogether I guess. If anyone's aware of another option for t

Thanks for all the great advice you guys...really helpful!! You're right about not trusting the claims of raw on labels maui_butterfly. Learned that the hard way with an erroneously purchased case of "truly NOT raw" agave nectar. Luckily they accepted returns but still, what a hassle. No sodium benzoate listed rawnoggin but I'll check it out with the manufacturer when I call.

Wasn't aware of the packets. The aloe vera juice I buy comes in bottles from Lily of the Desert and is made out of 100% organic whole aloe vera leaves, or so they say. No mention of it being pasteurised, though citric acid and potassium sorbate are listed as preservatives...both of which, to my limited knowledge, are fairly benign. Where do you buy the leaves to make gel? Is it difficul

Hi all, I'm new to the forum though have been perusing you guys for a few months now. Can't believe how interesting and informed so many of you are...not to mention just plain NICE. Real sense of community and caring. VERY cool!! In brief intro... I became vegetarian almost 20 years ago, vegan 10 years later, and for the last year or so have followed a 90-95% rawfood diet (still enjoy m
