Well, I have just bought a pot of Himalayan sea salt to use for mouthwash... Couldn't find any Celtic salt, but lots of Atlantic which was a LOT cheaper than the Himalayan stuff I got! Is Atlantic sea salt any good? claire

I have Ani Phyo's book, I like it. I don't make stuff from it too often because of all the nuts, but there are nice recipes.

I used to eat loads of tofu, tempeh, soy milk etc. Then I cut it out when I got interested in Raw. I really don't miss it at all - weird. I do still have some edamame in the freezer which I will probably use up. They still seem appetising, but tofu etc just doesn't appeal any more.

I ordered some raw chocolate to take to my parents' with me. So when everyone else was guzzling their eggs I could have something and not feel deprived. Have to say, everyone really liked the raw chocolate which I was surprised about.

I think it is best not to overdo the raw fats, even though obviously they are healthier than other fats....well, this is what I am AIMING for anyway ha ha! Haven't had a nut binge in a while, so I guess that is something... good luck

A couple of you have mentioned salt water for teeth... That sounds interesting How do you use it? Every day? Only when you have a dental problem? Any specific type of salt? Is it like an antiseptic or does it have other effects? Hope your dental problems clear up customagic, sorry I can't give you any advice Thanks Claire

I think I've gone off the idea of juicing more than, like, one glass of veggie juice a day. A lot of things I've read say it's not so good for diabetics, or else juice fast under medical supervision only. I'm not brave enough to go to my dietician at the hospital and ask her advice...I know exactly what she will think of that and she is pretty blunt with her opinions! I don't have the

That looks good! I made that Ani Phyo recipe too and ended up eating it for breakfast it was so tempting I just made a raw pie to take to my parents'for Easter - I used the pie crust from that apple pie, then the cashew frosting from her carrot cake recipe, then I put blueberries all over the top. Looks REALLY good. Means I can eat that instead of birthday cake on Easter day (it's my Dad's

I am diabetic but not insulin resistant (type 1)...but personally I wouldn't go near anything that requires me to drink vast quantities of maple syrup/molasses. I would think fasting would be better, or, like Bryan said, just really reducing the fat in your diet. I would guess if you are insulin resistant you must also be diabetic/pre-diabetic at least???? But then I'm not a doctor! Cla

I'm new to all this so I'm probably not the best person to comment I would try to move away from too many gourmet meals because they're usually quite (too?) fatty, BUT... I don't think you need to force yourself to do "fruit days", "veggie days" etc - just eat more fruits and veggies in a way that feels right for you. Good luck Claire

Hi RawKitty That was kind of you to post, thank you I also live with a SAD eater, so the fridge idea is a good one. while I've been ill today I've used the opportunity to read my brand new 80/10/10 book and WOW it's good. I feel inspired again and have had another 100% raw day. I think you're right about all these experiences teaching us for the future. Thanks Claire

I think for me detox means your body reacting to abuse!!! I have had a really bad week with eating. I have eaten a ton of cooked, junk, processed, you name it I've eaten it. Then yesterday I told myself "enough" and had a lovely 100% raw day. Lots and lots of fruit and salads to say sorry to my poor body. Felt so good. Today, I feel like death. blocked up nose, sore throat,

Both of those pies look AMAZING, am feeling very jealous that I'm not even on the same continent as them Trying to eat healthily at work is draining. Even when I was vegetarian, I used to get some kind of negative comment everytime I got something out to eat. What is THAT??? Do you only eat rabbit food? Why are you on a diet, you're not fat? Come on, you can eat a piece of this cake...it

Hi Strawberry Well, they only have one copy now ha ha... I found a lovely shop called The Nutri Centre in The Hale Clinic. It's in a building in Park Crescent...opposite Regents Park on the Euston Road end, pretty much right next to Regents Park tube. It's a road full of those lovely big white houses you get in the posh part of London. The bookshop was small but very good, and had a nic

Hi arugula and tanawana Thanks for the help...I guess no more nuts for me then, at least for a good while I eat cooked nuts, not raw. Haven't really noticed a connection with the amount. Had kind of been thinking that they're not so good for me for a while now, though...because they make me want to binge and also I had noticed I get a runny nose after eating them. Thanks claire

Dear all Was just wondering if anyone could make sense of something weird that has happened to me a few times now... I ate some lunch today, which was a couple of bananas, some blueberries and then a handful of almonds. Straight after finishing, I started to feel that my face was getting very warm and also I got a kind of "prickly" sensation. I suppose a bit like sunburn where y

Hi Tinyflower I am diabetic (type 1) I am really new to raw and still having my struggles , but I feel much better with this way of eating than with all the starchy carbs that get "recommended". Before I was eating platefuls of brown rice/rye bread/oats, just like I was told to, and I had quite good control but I was using SO much insulin and getting quite upredictable readings.

I can sympathise with you Angie about the whole attitude/diabetes thing (sorry, bit off topic ). I had diabetes at least 6 months before I was diagnosed and boy, did I fall out with EVERYONE during that time. I felt so ill but my Mum started losing her temper with me, shouting at me asking what was wrong with me why was I always so "intense" and "miserable", I needed to &

Hi all Have any diabetics out there done a juice fast? I would like to do one, but not sure what this will do to my blood sugar (I'm type 1). Thought about going to consult my dietician at the hospital, but just get the feeling she won't be too impressed...she spends her time trying to get me to eat more starchy carbs and make my diet more "flexible"!!! Any feedback would be

I totally sympathise...stuffed my face with pizza last night ( Like you described, I got in from work and it was, like, "let's party"!! Wanted to go out and eat at the Mexican place but they didn't have a table..so we got a take away nbecause by then there was no way we wanted to make anything ourselves. Have to say I really regret it this morning, feel yucky ( Oh well, I guess
