While a tiny bit of garlic (say like under an ounce) might not kill a person, my guess is that eating a pound of fresh garlic would make a person pretty sick. On the other hand, an amount of garlic that would not kill a person could easily kill a dog. So if a substance like garlic is toxic to a dog, what is the reaction between the cell of a dog and the garlic that kills a dog's cells? I would

Fruit can be a challenge for teeth. There are some fruit that cause more problems than others. Its best to avoid dried fruit, as they can stick to the teeth and wear away the enamel. Unripe fruit is a problem, as it tends to be acidic or contain toxins. Fresh ripe fruit is the best. Citrus can be problematic. I eat 10-12 oranges a day, and I am not having a problem. I did have some issues w

A substance that is a depressant, if given in a diluted form, will actually be a stimulant. So when something like cacao has a relaxing or depressant effect, its because its a powerful stimulant and the body is just too overwhelmed to eliminate the toxin.

When you get the mouth sores for no apparent reason, this is because you have some toxins in your tissues that need to be eliminated through the skin. Do you have mercury amalgam fillings? - these could contribute to a toxic mouth.

Sounds delicious fresh. Powerlifer, my understanding is that if you find a brown powdery stuff in the dates, it's worm @#$%&. Not that that's preferable to eggs or something. Or perhaps you did find eggs, though I've never seen it. Also if you are concerned about your dates blending, you can just soak them until they are totally hydrated.

By they way, in case you didn't know, this is most likely a SPAM post. We get a lot of these, where a person who just registered the same day posts a link to some random product. For the most part, the products don't have to do with raw vegan foods. But in this case, it seem like it does.

The only real reason I ever needed for eating all raw foods is because I like the way it feels. If it doesn't feel good to you, then don't do it. But it may surprise you.

I think you are better off spending your money on fresh fruits and vegetables over a powder. But if this food helps you stay raw, by all means indulge. One note on the ingredients - this product contains cyanocobalamin, which in the body breaks down into cyanide.

Paul thought the raw vegan diet was the source of his failing health. After quitting the raw vegan diet, he came to realize that other things besides the food choices were the culprit, not the rawness or the veganess of the foods he was eating. I think for some newbies, this made them wonder if the raw diet would work for them, as it is becoming apparent that a lot of the proponents of raw foo

Sometimes eating an avocado gives me that same feeling as eggs used to. Its fatty like an egg yolk, and sometimes they have a eggy like flavor to me. Also what is egg like is durian.

Well, this is my attempt at an allusion to the parable of the prodigal son. I don't know if you heard this, but ex-raw ex-vegan Paul Nison, who was at one time a raw vegan for 15 years, has returned to the fold. Paul decided that his health issues had nothing to do with eating only raw foods or eating only plant foods, and has changed his diet to a raw vegan diet. Welcome back Paul.

To maximize the healing you might get on a fast, its best to get as much rest and sleep as possible. If you can, see if you can clear out your schedule so you don't have to work or do much physical activity. The healing you get on a fast has to do with the amount of rest you get, more so than the not eating any food. Enjoy your fast, it can be quite a rewarding experience.

Make sure you read a lot about fasting before you do it. Also a 20 day fast is pretty intense, you might want to practice with a shorter 2-3 day fast. In general, long fasts are not recommended unless you have supervision, as things can go wrong. Also, as a healing tool, fasting can make symptoms go away, but really true health comes from permanent lifestyle changes. One of the hardest parts of f

Hi Martin, Welcome to the forum. When someone has recently experienced binge eating, its generally not a good idea to start a fast. This is because there is a phenomena known as the "binge/fast" cycle, where binging leads to fasting leads to binging leads to fasting ad nauseam. Before you fast, its a good idea to get in touch with the feeling that led to your binging, and see if

While salt my neutralize acids in the body, it is far from a healthy thing to eat. In general, a chemical approach to neutralizing acid is far from an optimal approach. So taking baking soda, or salt, or even alkalizing your water is not going to create health. Removing foods that acidify you, say like meat and animal products, this is going to produce better results in terms of health.

I agree that fruit is alkaline. Perhaps these people are eating unripe fruit, which is toxic and acidic and should not be eaten. Speaking of unripe fruit, did you know that green bell peppers are unripe? As well as green limes. If you let a lime sit for a while in your kitchen, it will turn yellow. At that point, it is ripe.

I read some time ago that black pepper was what made red meat more digestible after it was introduced to the west. It is a powerful digestive stimulant, and as such there are cautions in the literature about not over doing it. Here are some I found just perusing the internet: ----------------- CAUTION Pepper contains a small amount of mildly carcinogenic compound called safrole. if a per

Hi Mindy, I buy a lot of my food in bulk, buying cases at a time of navel, valencias, clementines, dates, and other fruits. I usually eat about 30 pounds of bananas a week on top of other seasonal fruits, as well as 7 heads of romaine a week, though recently I've been enjoying romaine hearts over romaine. Last time I went shopping I bought 38 pounds of valencias, 25 pounds of pixies, 20 po

Below are a list of the smileys that are supported by this forum. The smileys are usually 2 to 4 characters long. In the table below, I've had to add space between each character so that you could see the characters that make a smiley. But to use the smiley, you have to remove any spaces. So for example, "smiling smiley" is the colon and right parenthesis characters, with no space betw

You don't have to waste the fruit. But you don't have to eat either. Put the fruit into the compost, and make soil with it. If fruit is tasting at all alcoholic, or even if it just smells alcoholic, its best composted. You might be able so salvage some unfermented fruit, but that can still be risky.
