mindy, For most people, when they get a chronic disease, whether its psoriasis, eczema, hypothyroid, etc, the reason this disease hangs on for the rest of one's life is because the person with the disease is unwilling to make the lifestyle changes necessary to heal the disease. This means looking at all forms of toxins in one's life: the standard western diet, the recreational and pharmaceutic

Here are some raw foods you can always eat: fresh ripe fruit vegetables you would normally put into a green salad, ie lettuce, spinach, celery, bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. raw nuts and seeds. So how to start? Start by increasing the amounts of fruits and salads you eat. You can learn how to do the gourmet recipe stuff if you like preparing foods. There are recipes here in the

Paul, I'd be interested to see a daily menu of all raw foods that doesn't include a lot or any sweet fruit, but is also relatively low fat (lets say relative low fat is 20% fat). I've heard of people trying a green-arian style diet without the inclusion of mega fat, but I have not seen anyone doing that long term. Of course, if one is adding cooked foods, then there are tons of non-fat calorie so

trox, if you are having digestion challenges, do pay attention to food combining. If you properly combine foods, or better yet eat mono meals, this will allow you to digest foods with the least amount of energy drain on your body. The less you spend on digestion, the more you have for your healing.

80/10/10 doesn't work for a lot of people, but it works for me. I love fruit, and while I never in my pre-raw days thought I would be eating mostly fruit, here I am today loving it. For people wanting to eat an all raw diet, there really are only 2 choices of where the bulk of the calories are going to come from - fruit or fat, as greens don't provide a lot of calories. And what I've noticed a

i've been 100% raw for over 9 years, and my time left on this planet is limited too! Who doesn't die at exactly the right time? Rather than make heroic efforts to get to 100% raw, what about a constant increase of raw foods in your diet over the next (not short) period of time. You don't have to transition in 2 days or 2 months or even 2 years. Its totally OK if it takes you 10 years to get to

One thing that helps me in the winter is to turn of my heater at night and sleep with the window open. This means I have to wear extra clothing to bed, but getting all the fresh cold air at night when I sleep really helps me feel better.

Sorry, that was only for the long fasts. The times I've drank distilled water, I thought it was just fine. For me, its a hassle to make the distilled water, so I don't make it that often. I don't buy into the notion that it will demineralize you. By the way, rainwater is distilled water.

The name of the taste of sugar is sweet. The name of the taste of salt is salty. Rocketship, what is the name of the taste of starch? Those foods you mentioned have starch in them. But they have other substances that give it taste, like sugar or natural salts. I enjoy raw corn, but only when its sweet. I like raw peas also, but only when they are sweet. Its great that you think raw potatoes ar

I am not afraid of water fast or distilled water. I just don't recommend it to people, because there can be lasting side effects, mostly psychological and emotional, but real nevertheless.

Great post WorkoutMan. I too have chosen fruit as my calorie source rather than fat or cooked starches. Raw starch has absolutely no taste. Its only by cooking that the starch gets converted into sugar, and then it has taste. Or like you mention, people add their own taste. I am reading a book called "Don't Be Nice, Be Real". What got me interested in this book was a review by Michele in this post Don't Be Nice, Be REAL. So far, what I am getting from the book, is that we have to pay attention to how we feel when we are in situations that don't feel good to us. And then, using the techniques of Non Violent Communication, share our feelings with others i

ron and RawPracticalist, This is a vegan forum, and the promotion of animal products is not permitted. Its OK if you don't have a vegan diet and want to participate in the forum. What we don't like is people who come here to denounce the vegan diet, or tell us that the vegan diet does not work. As for percentages, I see that we are all in a process. For those here who embrace the vegan idea

Luvyuu, if you read David's website, it says "David Wolfe is considered one of the world’s top authorities on natural health, beauty nutrition...". David in one of his earlier books asked, "Would you take financial advise from a beggar on the street? So then, why would you take health advice from a doctor that isn't healthy?" So can we ask ourselves this same question

banana who, the chips I make have enough flavor for me, perhaps if you made them you might want to spice them up. But I can see the point about them not being that filling, as if you ate the whole batch, you would have only eating 1/4 cup of hemp seeds as the major caloric intake. With John's technique, the sauce in my recipe is enough to cover 3 bunches of kale.

Here are some other tips I learned from John Kohler's video on making kale chips. If you dehydrate your kale for an hour before putting your sauce on it, the kale shrinks and gets softer, so you can fit more kale on each sheet. When applying the sauce, use a sauce brush, and you only need to coat one side. Also, I found that if I eat the kale chips before they are done, they digest easier

For me, organic fruits and vegetables taste better than their commercial counterparts. In addition to the chemical pesticides in commercial produce, there is the chemical fertilizer used, as well as GMO. But if you can't afford organic, then eat fruits that have a skin you can peel, say like a banana. Grow you own greens or sprouts. Some fruits, like persimmons and figs, don't need a lot of pe

Jana, thanks for your informative post on caffeine. I am so glad that I am free of my caffeine addiction. The thing about using coffee for creativity: I would have some of my best creative ideas in my job under the influence of coffee. I am not sure my mind has been that sharp since then, or perhaps I've just lost the motivation to serve the Borg.

When I do find something that brings up emotional pain for me, what I like to do is to feel the pain, and to see if I can source where the pain is coming from. In the times that I have sourced the pain, the pain goes away once I find some acceptance of my source of pain. And in that place, I feel lighter. This is a process of celebration for me, not one of judgment and the need to determine r

If a child has no interest in learning masturbation, then I can see forcing the child to learn it as being intrusive. However, if the child has interest in it, then it seem teaching it would be helpful and loving, not intrusive. All that seems necessary is to either let the child ask for what they want, or if a parent doesn't know, ask the child if they want to learn about sexuality. The l

I've heard said before, the more you can get a person to suppress thei sexuality, the more they can be controlled. Also, in my personal experience, if something in this world is causing me emotional pain, say like some of the pain being expressed on some of the recent threads concerning sexuality, this usually has to do with my unresolved issues around some past event, rather than a fresh res
