I started reading the Wheat Belly book a couple of days ago and I was hooked (I believe I have some level of wheat/gluten intolerance). Some of the stuff in there is pretty shocking at how wheat itself (not just gluten) affects mind/body- I've not read Grain Damage by Doug Graham but I assume it's a similar read. A few things though... 1. Wheatgrass- what affect can this have? Obviously it'

So people just like the idea of Kulvinskas's message, rather than seeing him as an advisor on health? That said, raw can be hard work- socially, financially etc- if amazing health isn't there, then why the draw?

I don't mean to sound like a raw noob or anything, but I don't understand why so many people would follow his advice? I'm yet to see a single image of him looking healthy (I'm not being ageist here- there are many photos of older men/women doing raw who look quite vibrant- most of the pics I've seen of him, he looks borderline ill). So why do so many people adore him? What's in his books that

I don't think the emotions come from eating raw itself. Food is such a big part of our lives- socially etc, when you take that away, it just sort of leaves a void. I think the emotions are always just there, and food has become so addictive and overrated as an activity (rather than nourishment) that it's just 'something to do' in the same way we have TV and computers and our hobbies. Take awa

Yeah, I think because raw vegans are such a minority, there is a desire to feel like you have to do things 'right' to belong. I remember seeing a raw food board where some people were questioning David Wolfe (who was ridiculously popular and well loved at the time), and a few DW supporters became very spiteful to them, like he was some kind superbeing and how dare anyone question his authority.

What do you guys think of these? I used to love them cooked. I used to love them raw. Now I'm finding them bland, and almost inedible by themselves without sauces etc. I like that they can be used in low fat recipes, but for how filling they are, they don't seem especially nutritious. Or maybe I chose the wrong time to renew my interest in them and they're out of season and produce is just

Nice post, John. I've seen a few testimonials over the years where PCOS sufferers have been transformed by raw. Amazing stuff.

Although I don't think Freelea/DRs calorie recommendations are right (I think calorie intake depends on the person and isn't a one-size-fits-all), I do think their food advice (esp raw till 4) generally kicks the arse of most raw diets. TBH I would rather gain weight from eating lots of different fruits and cooked carbs- and know I was hitting RDA for most vitamins- than I would to slowly sta

It's become very cold the last few weeks. This lunchtime I got a fruit smoothie and a salad (which was semi cooked i.e. hummus, steamed broccoli), and m

Soooo... if you had to choose 5 things that have helped/enlightened/inspired you - that you'd probably never have discovered without going raw, What would they be? i.e. A book A person A movie A specific topic i.e. B12 or digestive health A fruit or vegetable you discovered for the first time Your blender? Your dehydrator? Your sprouter? Spirulina? Wheatgrass? I think for me, it'd

I don't think avos are bad, or even small amounts of nuts for that matter, it's the gallon of oil (cold-pressed) in a lot of the entrees. When I'm not raw, I can eat fresh bread dipped in olive oil/vinegar and feel a million times better than being mostly raw and having that amount of oil in a salad or a soup.

I'm not a big fan of blending, though I like the nutrition punch of a green smoothie. I think my belly always did best when I was 8-1-1 and I'd slowly chew a bunch of ripe bananas.

Hi all, thank you for the suggestions I'm finding smoothies 'okay', not really craving them though tbh, fruit either. At the moment I'm mixing big fresh salads with plain rice noodles, and although not raw, I find that quite tasty. I tried making a raw pizza recently and the marinara sauces I used to love now taste gross to me! I made courgetti and that made me gag. It's like my taste buds h

Hi guys, I'm having another go at introducing raw to my diet again (just done a 10 day master cleanse). I've kicked the caffeine (which I'm very proud of ), but am struggling getting a taste for fresh fruit. This means I'm spending a lot of $$$ on semi-processed raw food products like date/nut based sweets and nut mylks. I'm reasonably happy with salads, but can't exist on those as I do a fair
