Before going on a high raw diet this June, I was not preparing my own food. I would either eat at my workplace or school, or would eat the food made by a person who comes to cook at our house. Since going raw, I've been preparing my own salads and I realise that I am spending far more time on food than I used to earlier. It takes me half an hour to wash the vegetables thoroughly, then peel an

What do you have in mind when you say 'it worked'? I can imagine that if I have been a raw fooder since birth and so have my ancestors, I would not like the effects of cooked food on my palette, emotions and body. So I

And why would the entire society adopt this? I can imagine that a few ill people might have wanted easier chewing and digestion.

Why did human beings begin to cook their food? I imagine that today people eat cooked food because that is the tradition they have inherited and are attached to. But why did it all start? If cooking creates toxins and requires an additional expense of time and perhaps money, why did we begin to do it at all? I've been wondering about this for a while and cannot find an answer. I sometimes

Today I was at a market and passed by an organic / fair trade store and decided to buy some flax seed oil. I bought a 700 ml bottle, pretty cheap and was quite excited about it because applying regular almond oil under my eyes has helped my dry eye condition, and I thought organic flax seed oil might be even better, because it has more omega 3. When I got home and read about flax seed oil I re

Thank you both for your replies. Lisa, yes, the idea of not using your eyes to read or even watch a screen while eating makes sense to me. I think perhaps the single biggest change I see in my 5 months of being largely on a living food diet is that I am much more conscious of prana or energy and how it is moving inside and outside my body. It is such a strong experience that I began to read o

When you have a meal, do you eat quietly, or do you eat and converse with others, or do you watch something on a screen or read? I've been wondering about how important it is to be aware of not just what I eat, but also how I eat it. I used to eat while watching a video on my laptop, but I have stopped doing that. I realised that when I sit quietly, away from everything, and eat, I am more mi

What is better, nutritionally? I read that the body cannot digest whole flax seed so it should be ground before soaking. If that is the case, can the body digest flax seed that is soaked but not ground? Personally, I prefer soaking the seeds and eating them with the moist, gel-like substance around them. Grinding manually seems to be hard work, although I have never tried. And I don't lik

Everyday I use the subway to travel and I carry my lunch and water with me. As one enters the subway one is required to put one's bag through an x-ray machine. For long I have wondered if this machine is damaging my food. I think it is, intuitively speaking, but I have no way to tell. I also have no choice except to not carry food, which means to skip lunch, because the security staff would n

What are your experiences with eating raw spinach? Has it caused any problems in the long run? Do you believe that the presence of oxalic acid makes raw spinach a dangerous food to eat on a daily basis? There seems to be no consensus on this, on the archives of this forum, or on the internet, or even in the health books. Shelton says raw spinach is not good, Fuhrman recommends it. I'm not

I don't know if there are any scientific studies on this but I've been drinking organic wheatgrass powder, 1 tsp in a cup of water, once a day for about 3 months. I can only speak on the basis of intuition, and I think the powder is nutritious. I live in New Delhi, one of the most polluted places in the world. When I come home from work, I feel a glass of water with the powder undoes some of the
