I read that a person should not attempt a deep colon cleanse to get rid of the "post-putrefaction" matter without detoxing for at least 1 year or more. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this? I read that the old matter is like rubber or hockey pucks coming out (UGH!) but most people cannot pass it with out a colonic or years of pre-cleansing....I would like to do a deep clea

Hey! I went to Whole Foods today and looked at the stuff in the raw aisle, and the Raweos were 10.00!!!!!!!!!! For about 10 cookies or something like that!!! OMG!!!!!!!! :O I looked at the recipe someone posted below, and it sounds yummy...for the filling you could try using macadamias and either agave or dates for sweetness, instead of almonds or cashews. The macs give it a more "cr

I bought the book a couple of days ago, and have started to use it (at a level 3 for me) and was just wondering if anyone else here has used the book's approach. It seems so useful for me personally, as it incorporates alot of raw with a little cooked and some fish/shellfish allowences (or meat if one wants as well), but it seems really flexible and makes alot of sense to me! So far, its not

I have gotten over a cold, and recently began juicing quite a bit. I have been using mostly green veggies, and some kiwi, apples, parsley, and celery (and carrot) and wheat grass. Suddenly I have been coughing up ALOT of phlem (gross, I know) but was wondering if this sudden coughing fit has anything to do w/ juicing. I read that some juices and parsley can help as an expectorant, but though

Hey all! I haven't been here in a while, so I'm back today to ask if anyone has any real suggestions as to how I can ease back into a raw diet. I adhere to a vegan diet 99% of the time, but have had some dairy in the last few days. I have not really been eating the most healthy vegan foods either...veggie burgers, soy cheese, etc. I do like egg-less salads made w/ tofu and veganaise w/ so

I have been hearing alot about the bad side of soy. Does anyone know why it is so bad all of a sudden? I drink/use soymilk in smoothies and other stuff, and I haven't had any reactions to it, but was wondering if there is some other things I should know. Thanks for any info! Dafodil

Hey Jen! OMG!! I'm not the only one!!! I just got back from visiting my family and my Grandmothers funeral in the South....LOTS of BBQ ( I know...), poundcake, mac and cheese, potato salad, fried green tomatos, sweet iced tea, and wine....I had been 100% raw for nearly two weks before I left. I need to go raw again, without so many nuts and nut butters (seems that they aren't so great accordi

I am only finishing week 2 of a raw food transition, but before I could do that I was vegan for quite a while. Before that I had been vegetarian and was always overweight. When I cut out the dairy and other refined products and went vegan I lost alot of the weight. My advise is to transition bit by bit into veganism to see how you feel and then work on raw transitions. This is how I had to do

Thanks to you all for all the info and input! THis really helps me not become so frustrated. Why are the nut butters bad? Is it b/c they go rancid faster?

Here's a question; I have purchased three books for raw recipes, and they all call for a large amount of nuts in most of the recipes. No problem, as I think those recipes help me with the transition (going into week 2 as raw vegan!) But in my last post, a few of you noted that I may be eating too many fats (nuts?) and that including more sweet fruit will help energy levels for exercise, etc.

For b-fast I usually have a fruit based smoothie w/ LF yogurt, flax meal, bananas, berries, some juice, and a little nut butter. For lunch/snacks I have large salads w/ avocados, mock tuna salad or walnut pate, and gazpacho or some other soup. Snacks are carrots, celery, avocados, fruit, or what ever I have around that is convenient. Dinner is usually more of what I had for lunch or a variatio

Black walnut extract or citrus seed extract mixed w/ juice or water will fix parasites. They are both at your local HFS. Hope this helps.

I have just completed my first week of going 100% raw, and I am wondering if headaches are common (I've read they are when you go raw/detoxify the body) and if anyone else here has had similar experiences, and how long did the headaches last?? Today is the first day this week that I have not had a mild headache. Also, I am wondering if it is necessary to soak all raw nuts before eating? I read
