Well, this becomes a one-sided debate, given the policies of this site, and I don't want to get stuck playing the devil while arguing for the other side, so all I will do is offer a big stuck-in-the-middle sigh: your philosophy is better than theirs, and thus all the problems and arguments begin. "Non-contradictory science?" Good luck in truly finding that, especially given human evo

I don't know why, but I always seem to end up in the middle of whatever is being debated. Thus I'm often pulled back and forth between the two sides until my stomach houses a battle of cooked flaccid asparagus versus wilted raw greens in a race to get through my internal tubing. I have the Nourishing Traditions book, as well as others like it, and also have quite the raw foods library as well.

Ok, thanks, I'm familiar with most of those; just haven't been very consistent with them.

Any experience using diatomaceous earth as part of a cleanse? Good, bad or just totally inappropriate in a raw foods diet? I assume most likely the latter given that it's basically ground up death (nothing like painting a positive image), from diatoms, but wonder if limited use might be temporarily beneficial in a compromised digestive system, as some claim (mostly non-vegans I think).

That's what those psychedelic nibs do to you. Thankfully they're finally out of my system. I'm no longer buzzing like an electrified linebacker looking for a kill - I've calmed down to the vibrational energy of a big salad, with glistening greens, happy tomatoes, a slumbering avocado, and a few energy-packed nuts to keep me relatively potent... Sorry Tamukha, but Bobby just has to keep singi

Ha, now that you mention it Curator, could be interesting to explore the world through the crack-filled eyes of a walrus, as long as it doesn't take a fistful of chocolate nibs to get me into that state of mind.

I did see and enjoy Blue Valentine along time ago. Weird but interesting and entertaining. As far as cashews, if I eat too many they will sit in my gut like a party of slugs feasting on slime, but a few handfuls usually don't bother me, which is about what I had. They don't give me the buzz those nibs did. Whether those nibs are a toxin or not, all I can say is that my carefully designed sc

Well, all I can say is, you guys are sickos... Kidding of course, to each their own, but I hated Psycho, Fatal Attraction, and Sleeping with the Enemy. Give me Woody Allen, The Insider, The Door in the Floor, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Hours, Fargo, The Piano, In Bruge...

I'm with you on rollercoasters and horror films. Never understood the thrill. Hated the Exorcist and the Shining and haven't watched any since, except a date once dragged me to Christine by Stephen King, about a car gone mad. I couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous it was, which only made her mad. She never went out with me after that. I think what always bothered me the most about the tr

Oh man, don't be envious. It's a sick, sick feeling, as if my entire nervous system was frazzled and on the verge of sizzling into oblivion. I had the energy to crank out a novel, but it would have had the intelligence of a walrus on crack. I finally slept a few hours but I'm still buzzed. Coffee now does the same thing to me. Once upon a time I could drink a cup of coffee at midnight and fa

Holy crap, what a mistake to eat chocolate nibs. Does anyone believe this stuff (crap) is actually healthy? I'd never eaten them before, and bought a bag of cashews covered with chocolate nibs as a snack from a raw foods restaurant in Chicago today for the long drive home. I admit, I just knew I was going to be sorry for doing so. Sure enough, by the time I got back my body buzzed from head t

Everyone wants to be superman, or James Bond, or Peter Pan, or Wonder Woman, or the great hunter... I suspect in part it's human nature to head towards an extreme viewpoint, unless you were raised in a healthy environment and shown how to live a more balanced life. Most fluctuate around it, experimenting one way or another until realizing this or that extreme doesn't work, or makes you sick.

It seems there's a tendency, reading all these sites/blogs/forums, for many people to always stretch towards the extreme - the purist diet, the greasiest diet, the fastest or longest runner, to climb the highest peak, etc. I've had the same tendencies. The older I get, however, the more often I come back to the same place, searching for a sensible balance.

During my raw journey around the world (i.e. the wide wild web one), I stumbled into the bizarro world of a forum on paleo raw, complete with pics of their community enjoying raw meat and blood. If I have to follow that route for robust health, just shoot me now (and contribute my internal organs to their festive feasts). Having said that, I'm intrigued by the paleo philosophy and wonder what o

I just have to ask why is Natural News listing breitbart (the right winger who got that dept of ag person fired by posting an out-of-context video) as their only source for this news? That guy is completely untrustworthy as a news source.

Well, I guess that's me, dragging a bath tub around and then complaining about it. Only thing is, my bathtub is constructed from a long history of not always living well. Your advice might be great for young bodies that heal quickly and respond well to dietary changes, but for others its potentially dangerous. Some of us have been around a while longer and have developed issues that don't diss

I've wondered about that. I had some food sensitivity testing done once, and pineapple did take a hit, though I think that testing is proving to be bogus. A lot of other raw foods showed up on my list, too, including bananas, carrots, spinach, blueberries, apples, just to name a few, most of which I eat without any apparent problems.

I doubt I'll stick with it either, I like variety too much, but was hoping a short trial would help speed along the cleansing. I'm not sure it's worth it. I do fine with a high fruit breakfast, then prefer a big salad for lunch and dinner. Veggies appear to be less stubborn. I've got fruit on my counter that appear to have gone into hibernation. I can hear them laughing at me in their dreams

I think my bananas are on to me. They are alive, right? I must be giving off signals. Back when I ate them when they were bright yellow, they would hasten themselves into a dark brown color, avoiding consumption. Now that I'm waiting for them to browm, they stay yellow. So suffocation is the way to go. Thanks for the tip. Yeah, 3 oranges alone would do me in. Same with pineapple. Ate a

Eating a lot of fruit is turning out to be a lot tougher than I thought. I've only been at this for about 6 days now, and I either don't get enough calories because I can't eat enough fruit (too many apples or pineapple give me massive stomach pain) or because I don't have enough ripe fruit. I used to get annoyed by how bananas would get too ripe too quickly; now that I understand what a truly

I was once a heavy pot smoker, and for about 5 years after quitting, I'd sometimes have intense dreams about smoking pot, so much so that I was sure I'd given in at some point and had actually smoked some weed. I never did, and eventually the dreams and the cravings went away. So you have to be careful about interpreting dreams - I don't think my body really needed more of that harsh smoke take

Hey RP, I like the simplicity and the purity of your philosophy, and am trying it as I write this, but it is just a philosophy. Mistaking anything as the one and only truth is what gets mankind into trouble. Islamic fundamentalitsts believe they have the truth, as do all other religions. Whale-blubber eating eskimos probably believe they have the truth. As do republicans and democrats. It

"...it is the truth" - interesting. That gets to the heart of the issue, mankind believing he has discovered the truth, such as the earth is flat. Cults are formed by such beliefs, wars are fought over them, there's no need or reason for further questioning or learning once the truth is found, until someone comes along and presents something new.

Hey RP, I believe you brought mono meals into the discussion as part of your definition of a food, but as I see it, a mono meal only exists in a civilized society (a place rife with issues from being disconnected from nature).
