Mislu...Sorry to hear about you feeling sad... I feel the same way when this colder weather comes along... a few things that help me get through: - Walk everyday in the sunshine for an at least a 1/2 hour. I am up here in Canada and no matter how cold it gets, I MAKE myself do this. - Are you getting your Omega 3 oils... you should be taking these every day. - If you are indulging in coo

Thanks for a great article Ruffin... I believe the health benefits of this tea might outweigh the benefits of being 100% raw. Being 100% raw, IMO, is not be the big picture... I mean, I'm not going to beat myself up over having a cup of tea which is proven to prevent disease. That is not part of my path to be the healthiest I can be... if I believe something is going to improve my health then

Just keep strong and on your path.. do not beat yourself up if you fall off. It is a hard journey to be 100% at all times for the rest of your life. Also too, if you must cheat, please do it with healthy cooked foods, not the processed stuff; that will really inhibit your health... maybe some steamed veggies and baked potatoes to get you through this transition. Perhaps you could ask this pers

I cut out drinking herbal teas for the longest time, then a few months ago I added them back in, as up here in Canada, its nice to have something warm to get you through the cold nights. I've had no reaction at all from drinking herbal teas--but I do stay away from the caffinated ones.

Carrot greens are totally edible, and in fact, the most nutritious part of the carrot... blend them up in your green smoothie... if you're into that. Cheers,

I agree with Sunshine... I have not slipped up on an cooked processed foods at all.. no cravings for chocey or chips after 18 months... but I do indulge in baked potatoes, yams, steamed veggies and feel no guilt at all. Now, if I was indulging in pizza and donuts, well, I wouldn't feel great about myself that's for sure. Over the summer I induldged in a small bite of a wheat bread... after 18 mon

I've been raw about 18 months and have never had a problem with missing my period. Its always bang on. It is a lot lighter now, I have no cramps or headaches. Just a little grumpy (really wish that sympton would go away). Considering when I was cooked I had to down a bottle of Advil to ease the pain, this is nothing short of a miracle (I'm not 100% raw, still indulge in steamed veggies/potatoes

I think the important thing is what you are eating cooked. There is a huge difference between eating some steamed veggies and a cheese covered pizza. I am not 100% raw. I don't find that 100% raw is the be all and end all for me (and for a lot of people). A few times per week I will have a baked potato or sweet potato for dinner.... I love to have air popped popcorn once a week too. Still, about

I started out 100% about 18 months ago... had a rough time staying 100% for any length of time... Now most days I am 100% but on the weekends will treat myself to a baked potato and steamed veggies for dinner; I also indulge in air-popped popcorn a few times per month. I feel no difference from 100% to 85%... still feel amazing all the time. I think what you eat that is cooked makes the differ

I don't make my own stuff but I use toothsoap for my toothpaste (I order it from Frederic Patenaude's site) and I use the crystal stone for deodorant, which works amazingly. I use olive oil to moisturize and apple cider vinegar for toner. I try to use organic shampoos but would love to hear some homemade recipes too. That's it.

Hi Jay, I don't know about the benefits of raw food and teeth but I do know a bit about oil pulling... have you heard about it? Oil pulling is excellent for the teeth and gum issues, among other things. I've heard amazing things about it, including helping diseased and loosened teeth. Here is the website--take a look and let me know what you think. I've only been doing it a few week

Hi Dude! Sorry to hear about your sleeping troubles; I have them too at times. I eat bananas before I go to bed... for some reason, they always help me get to sleep (eat as many as you need to so that your tummy feels satisfied). Good luck on your raw journey... it is amazing what raw food can cure!

Cacao may not be raw... check this article out: Cacao: After harvest cacao pods are piled up to ‘sweat’ or ferment for 3 to 4 days. During this time the temps can reach up to 140f. They are often heated again during the drying process. We would like to find a source for fresh cacao pods, if anyone has one. For those who are interested here is a link to the article about "raw&quo

Hi fresh... I don't eat meat daily, only occassionally; about once every 6-8 weeks... I guess I could have used a better word than crave... I don't know the physiological mechanism behind this "craving"... I just know that I feel so much better if I include raw meat occassionally and raw egg yolks a little more frequently. To tell the truth, I have been lurking on a lot of 'raw' bo

It may not be that he smells any more than usual but your sense of smell is so much sharper when raw... I find since being raw that my smell has been heightened to new levels. I can smell people miles away. I know what they have eaten. I smell cooked people!!!!LOL! I don't think there is much you can do other than convince him to go raw also. I, myself, am trying to embrace this new-found se

Hey y'all, just to explain myself, I was a vegetarian for 12 years for health reasons... my mother died of cancer; she didn't drink or smoke but boy she loved to eat fast food/elaborate dinners/casseroles made from canned soup, you get the picture.. She suffered a long time. I did a lot of research on how diet is linked to disease... but realized that eating all that cooked cheese/grains/ breads/

Oh brother... well I knew there would be one person jumping down my throat and I was right. What does including an organic meat or raw egg yolks in my raw diet from time to time have to do with my ethics or morals? Aquadecoco, how long have you been vegan? I'm sure at some point in your life you ate meat... did anyone challenge your morals? How many bugs do you eat in your fresh produce? H

Being a rawbie who is not vegan, I can tell you why I indulge in raw "meat" from time to time.. Very simply, it gives me an incredible amount of stamina and energy. Please do not bite my head off for this... I have been on this raw journey for about 18months now. For the first 6 months I tried to go vegan, but just didn't feel right... tired, no energy for the activities I like to do.

I've made a few adjustments, and in my opinion this is what I consider worst to best foods: Refined Sugar/flour/rice food of any kind that is refined (worst) Processed /Packaged Foods (which is also, refined) Junk Food (again, I consider all junk food refined) Alcohol Caffeine (okay if you must but without dairy or refined sugar) Dairy (okay, if consumed raw) Meat (Beef only consumed ra

I don't have one and not sure if I want one... I don't believe dehytrating food is all that healthy... bad for the teeth, causes bloating and inhibits weight loss. My brother has a dehydrator and brought some sweet potatos chips to a party of mine; which was good because while everyone else was eating greasy chips, it was a real treat to be able to eat the sweet potato chips. But I don't think it

My mistake Rob, Actually, a raw potato has 6% protein (but I guess it depends on how big the potato is, LOL!). But hopefully my point was taken as you can survive on very little protein—vegetables have all the protein the body requires. But most raw foodists know that anyhow!

Hi Dewey, It's normal to be hungry a lot when first starting out. I have been about 90% raw for over a year and am still hungry all the time. I think with us raw foodists, people are so sceptical. Where do we get our protein? Well, very simply vegetables and nuts have all the protein our bodies need. Your sister stating chicken has enzymes in it is simply not true. Cooking any food destro

Okay, I confess, popcorn is my addiction... I treat myself to air-popped popcorn about 2 or 3 times per week... it really helps me stay on my journey and also stay away from worse things. I gently melt raw, organic coconut oil over top and sprinkle with sea salt. I was feeling really guilty about it until someone said hey, it's probably worse for your health to feel so guilty than to eat the popc

pakd4fun, I've had the big talk with my husband too; he is 40 now, still young enough not to feel the effects of his SAD consumption; but I really worry for him and he doesn't seem to care; his motto is "we're here for a good time, not a long time". He is happy to eat healthy when I am preparing dinner but its when he goes out for lunch (daily) that he eats fast food. Hopefully, it wil
