Lovely and breathtaking scenery. Was it on the West Coast? I'll bet the sunsets wherever it was were equally as gorgeous. Very relaxing! I have a "dream machine" from Brookstone that I play various sounds to sleep. My favorite is the ocean surf coming in. It reminds me of that!

Khale, You expressed that so beautifully! I hope I get to the place you're in soon. This weekend started out (I thought) to be a piece of cake. However, my husband and I got caught up in the frills and got things we shouldn't have. ie: for both of us Japanese cuisine, and at the parade with my grandbabies I ate a couple of the candies they tossed. My husband played golf and had a cheeseburger (t

Hi Frutarian_nav, I'm glad you asked a question about seeds. I thought I had heard something a long time ago that apple seeds were toxic. I can't really remember where that came from. However, whenever I make a smoothie in the Vita-Mix I toss in whatever fruit it is seeds and all. The seeds end up pulverized and you don't know they're there. My theory is that it's natural so it must be OK. Howeve

Suncloud, What kind of wheat grains do you buy? I was at the health food store and there were so many I didn't know what to get so I got nothing. I bought Kamut and Alfalfa instead to sprout. I love the Mung beans I sprouted. They were awesome but took 4 or so days. It sounds like the wheat you sprout is ready really quickly! Do you, or anyone this board, grow and juice wheatgrass? I really wa

Hi Everyone! I hope this Memorial Day weekend won't be too much of a bummer challenge for all of us. Khale: I know it must be a real downer not to feel comfortable with all the commotion this weekend with restaurants, partying around junk food etc. Usually at those family gatherings someone always brings a raw fruit platter and fresh fruit salad. It might not be organic, but you can get by. M

Tifftwins: I hope I wasn't too "flip" in an earlier post. I wasn't demeaning your "day off raw food". The way you were so honest was so refreshing. It reminded me of when I ask my grand-babies if they did a particular thing and they immediately admit to it. You are going to be just fine when you find your way back to what you know makes you feel the best you can be! Good luc

Thx for the Tahini info everyone. I like the idea to soak the seeds, then grind and add a bit of oil. Now --- what ingredients do I add to make a salad dressing. What other things can I do with Tahini? (by the way, why is it called Tahini?) Thanks for all the input! Miss Joan

Good Morning Everyone!! What a beautiful morning it is here in CT. The sun is shinning and there's a gentle breeze. However, it's going up to 91 so this won't last long I'm especially happy because this is the FIRST morning that I didn't crash after getting up to make a smoothie for my hubby before he leaves for work. Until today I would sleep until almost noon. I'd have to set the alarm to take

By "positive" I mean that your body is telling you something that shouldn't be ignored. Sometimes our bodies have problems with no symptoms until it's really bad. Since it stopped, maybe it was nothing. My BM was like blood last week but it was the beet coleslaw I had eaten a lot of. Once I realized it wasn't blood it was pretty funny. I guess I still wasn't digesting that well yet. It

Thx!! Berlinpathos. However, Maranatha brand has a recall right now. There's possible contamination so I'll search for another brand. Have a great day!

Tiffany, I made angel hair spaghetti for the first time so I don't know if I'll like other recipes better, but this one tasted good. Here's what I did: With spiral slicer I sliced zucchini and yellow squash. I combined them in a bowl and spritzed with a little Braggs and touch of EVOO. (a tip from Earthangel) For the sauce you need: 1C sun dried tomatoes soaked in 1C water until soft

Thx everyone for the info. I'm going to take back the Tahini paste I got from WF's. It's their brand which is roasted and mechanically hulled organic sesame seeds. Sounds like a no-no to me now. I know I'm still clueless but believe it or not I've learned a lot since starting the 7 Weeks Raw Diet. When I go back to WF's (unfortunately an hour away) I'll read every label and be sure to stay away f

Tiffany, I was @ a health food store yesterday and one of the workers (a vegetarian) told me that a delicious treat when she has a sweet craving is mixing Tahini paste and honey. Maybe you can give that a try. I still haven't tried Tahini but I bought a jar at WF's. Have a rawsome day!

Good thought! Tomorrow I'm going to leave the skin on the orange for our smoothie. So far, the smoothies haven't had any overwhelming taste of one thing. They've all been delicious and my fussy husband loves them. The Vita-Mix pulverizes everything and the drinks are yummy!

Jodi, THX SO MUCH! By heating is it still considered OK in our raw food diet? I noticed all the Tahini jars were "roasted sesame seeds." Does it matter if they're hulled or unhulled? Have you ever made a salad dressing with Tahini? Thx again. You're the best! Joan

I keep hearing how good Tahini salad dressing is. I bought a jar from WF but I don't think it's raw. It's the WF 365 brand. I looked today at a good local health food store and they had several brands but none were raw. All had been roasted. Is is possible to make it on my own? Can someone give me a recipe for this? I've been trying to do 100% raw since starting the 7 Weeks Raw Diet except I h

Hi Kwan, what do you put in your favorite fruit/greens smoothie? I haven't made that combination yet and would like to. The mesquite drink sounds interesting. What are you planning to make it with. Carmel corn taste - yum! -J-

Thx for the feedback. That's interesting that most people eventually lose their taste for it. Sure is a good way to put more money into the organic things! Does the same thing happen with caffeine? I was never a coffee or tea drinker but I know people who have major withdrawal without it. Have a great day! -J-

Hi Amelia, I'm new to raw foods but I want to share a couple of things I've learned. Alison Cohen was on the Today show and she said that juicing a whole cucumber has remarkable benefits for acne, skin ailments, skin rashes, nails and hair. It has silica and manganese (sp?) Also, when I started the 7 Weeks Raw diet I went to a good local health food store and spoke to a nutritionist about protein

Thx for the info & encouragement, Tiffany. I'm not discouraged. I just worry about being away from home and having an "emergency" so-to-speak! I do not like public bathrooms and often it's not the most quiet experience! LOL It's so great to be able to talk about these issues. They're important. Especially when you're knew. I started this on the 14th but a couple of weeks prior was w

Hi Inaia, I found the website for you. It's thegardendiet.com On the home page there's a site map. Click on FAQ. Jinjee answers questions. The one about skin is the 4th one down (Kim is asking the question). She doesn't go into great detail but it was informative. When Alisa Cohen was on one of the morning TV shows (Today or Good Morning America) and she said that juicing a whole cucumber is o

THX!!! for the information. I'm only getting 1/2 to a full banana a day (when I share a smoothie with my husband). I can easily eat more. It seems than when I get into the various greens in the afternoon the excessive BM's start. I munch on sno peas, snap peas, sprouts preceded by a salad of spinach, greens, nuts, peppers, etc. and organic vinegar (Braggs). Do you think I should cut back? Any hel

I tend to be obsessive/compulsive (in my opinion!). When I decide to do something I do it 100+%. I get all the amenities, tools, gadgets etcetcetc. I need to know if going "cold turkey" on a raw food diet from an SAD diet is OK. My husband and I have experienced a LOT of fatigue, frequent, loose BM's and occasional lightheadedness and slight headache. Today is the 9th day and I felt re
