Elakti: I'm glad you're feeling better. I must admit though, with your symptoms, I would have checked with a doctor. I'm very new at all of this, so maybe that's why I think this way. Glad you're feeling better. Have a great evening.

I agree. To be "CERTIFIED ORGANIC" (which is what we are supposed to look for on the label) the grower has to complete a 600 page questionnaire every 6 months. Produce etc. can be labeled "organic or organically grown" which is also good, but those items don't have the stringent guidelines a Certified Organic farm has. I doubt that Wal-Mart is going to carry certified organic

Jodi: I just read your diary. Wow! You've come a long way, baby! Your honesty is going to help a lot of people -- more than you know. I'm really impressed and in awe of what you went thru and where you are now. What you did for that family must have made you feel SOOO great. It proved what a wonderful, caring person you are. That year away was probably the best thing you did for yourself. At firs

Elkati: I liked your advice about eating what you LIKE and not what you THINK you should like. I've been eating kale but I'm not crazy about it. The same with collard greens. I'm trying to include them because I know they're good for you. In general I love most vegetables. I think I need to do more research and learn the ones that are most beneficial. Your post made me feel better. Thx!

Rainbowgrl: I don't know much about colonics, but in a book I'm reading about wheatgrass (Ann Wigmore) there's a 3 day wheatgrass explained that includes daily wheatgrass enemas (with a baby syringe). It's supposed to really clean your lower colon and you don't feel sick during the fast. I'm growing my first crops of wheatgrass (simple and pretty to look at, too!). After we have a few shots of th

Thinkingraw: I sounds as though you had an eye opening experience when you visited your Dad. That's a GOOD thing. It makes you that much stronger and focused to do what you really know is right. Good for you!!! I worry that when I go home for my Mom's B'day next month I'll face the same thing. Time will tell. Throwing up tells you that your raw/living way of eating is right for your body. Keep up

I find organic beans and seeds at a local small good health food store. Do you have a Whole Foods or Wild Oats in your area? They have these in bulk. Also, more and more grocery stores are getting organic fruits and vegetables. If you write a suggestion or talk with the manager, they are usually very accommodating. We got a new family owned grocery store in my town about 5 years ago and for a lon

Howlingmoon: I feel for you and your situation. It sounds as though you're getting a plan, which is good. What State do you live in? If it's Oregon and you're anywhere near Portland, my son owns a tattoo studio. It has an excellent reputation in the area. He's been in several tattoo magazines and a guest artist in other States. If you live in that area let me know and I will talk with him and I k

Good advice, Prism. Re: popcorn, it's one of my comfort foods although I rarely make it. I need to get some coconut oil. One of my fondest childhood memories is every Sunday nite my Dad would pop corn (it always came out so fluffy the way he popped it). Then he would make a bowl of sliced apples. If you've never tried popcorn and apples together please try it. It's SO yummy. Of course my Dad put

Meow: I hope you went to a doctor today if you still had that bad of a headache. I can understand the way you felt the day of the accident (with the emotional distress etc.) but you should feel a LOT better by today. Please don't neglect this. I wrote you on another post earlier today also. I think Jgunn has the right idea of the heat/cold. If you still have the headache, PLEASE look into it. I'l

Isn't B-12 for energy? If it is, most raw/living foodists (is that a word?) claim to have LOTS of energy from this way of eating. I'm confused. Any thoughts?

Suncloud, You are SO precious for giving all that information. It helps a lot. I'm now convinced that any sprouted grains are great. By the way, I thought a couple of weeks ago when I mentioned that I bought kamut, you remembered that you had bought some awhile ago and had forgotten about them. Did I dream that? They are so delicious. I'm sorry that you're a little down today. Some days are ju

Hi Mona, Good luck with your class. Sounds exciting to introduce this healthy way of eating. I suggest you keep emphasizing how much better they will feel and their bodies will heal. If they're not in the best of health that might hit home. I have a book on raw food that says if you include a balance of the five major tastes, whatever you make will be delicious. You probably already know this.

Hi! I was at Wild Oats and Whole Foods and didn't know what I was looking for. They both had coconuts in different locations and I couldn't tell what the difference was. Question. Both markets had a round looking thing with a pointed top. I asked a sales person what it was and she said it was a coconut. Whole Foods had theirs in a cool case on ice chips. Wild Oats had them on a separate displa

Wheatgrass juice According to Ann Wigmore in her book The Wheatgrass Book she says, "No other potent food suitable for human consumption is as inexpensive to produce. Spirulina and chlorella, bee pollen and other supplemental health foods may be chemically potent, but compared to fresh wheatgrass juice, they are low in vitality, and much more costly. Vitamin and mineral supplements are al

Birdy, I just started growing my own wheatgrass. It's not even ready to harvest yet. I bought The Wheatgrass Book by Ann Wigmore. I got it on Amazon. It's full of great information that would help you. It explains so much including how to do a wheatgrass fast (3 days) which I want to do sometime. On the website happyjuicer.com it says it's a vegetable and OK for gluten sensitive people. Good luc

I got the Vita-Mix when we started the 7 Weeks All Raw. I remember the lid smelling like rubber when I first got it but it's barely noticeable now. By the way, I daily make enough smoothie for 2 16oz helpings. The mixture has never hit the lid except for a few specs at most. I always turn the variable dial quickly to 10 and then turn the speed switch to high with no problems. Once a day I

HI EVERYONE! I haven't been posting but I read all of your postings every day. It's awesome how much perseverance everyone has maintained. Meow, I hope that awful headache is gone. I had a dull headache all day Saturday (rare for me, so I don't have a lot of patience with one). It was very slight compared to what you endured. I don't know if you've ever seen Dr. Oz on TV before. Oprah has him

Which or what is it to look for when buying a coconut? I LOVE coconut but it is so high in fat or am I wrong? It seems that a lot of people on the posts are drinking coconut milk and using the meat. Someone please enlighten me. THX!!!!

LIFE101, Where can I learn about combining foods? I'm a newbie to this lifestyle but haven't seen that mentioned yet. Is there a "basic" website that will explain these things to people like me (SAD only in past)? I notice that a lot of people were vegans or vegetarians which isn't such a great leap. I realize that constant research will resolve a lot of questions but I guess I'm just i
