So, anyway, I was really into dance a few years ago when I was healthier - favorite was tap and African, cause I could just do hours a day and not get bored, but I did hip-hop, funk, Latin, ballet, jazz, lots of freestyle, charleston, Afro-Caribbean, hula, even bellydance (just WASN'T ME, hey) - but I haven't done it in ages. I've been wanting to start up again, with a home video cause I'd feel s

Nope, my mistake, cause I was thinking of Jubb's Longevity raw restaurant on East 12th - never been there but it's not far from Quintessence - THEIR stuff is way too salty.

Yay you! Wasn't that fascinating advice Pam gave you on turning an oven into a dehydrator? I was stunned. You could start a post All About Me in the raw diary section, but I think it is nice to have this kind of post here, too. Peace out, Megan

Maybe I will be able to fast someday when I've been raw and transformed - but I kinda hope by then I won't "need to" - I'd like to think that fasting is essentially a cooked modality, unnecessary when you're the "right" kind of raw. That's what I like to think and maybe why I try to force myself to be "light" raw. Anyway, yesterday I had my juice all day and wasn'

hey sunflowers - still going with raw, but still haven't grooved into a fast yet - I feel that Dream Earth COULD be right - I've been a compulsive faster and always thought that the way to deal with all that scary newborn untouched unfed infant stuff was to do a fast and feel the pain. I've been "working" (or rather it hasn't been working) with that assumption for years, always being an

Julie, you look so beautiful and good-natured - are you a mutt? It seems that in order to stay raw, it's important to lose that fear (I have it, but it's under control just now) of doing the "wrong thing" - we're orthorexics (I'm proud of it, but it's a pain). I think there are two things you gotta do - avoid as much as possible eating the things you KNOW are wrong (whatever for you

Well, lots of controversy about it! Since you haven't got a blender right now, why not juice them? The pulp you can use as a "salad" or as pet food or, if you have a garden or plants, as compost. Later if you get a blender, you can make soups with your pulp with your blender! You can also eat them as they are, but make sure that's not the only way you consume greens, because you don'

Yes, in cases like THIS, you always feel better NOT giving in to the craving, and feel bad if you do. You just have to ride it out, and it changes. Only had green juice again today so far, but I may again have dinner. I am trying to be accepting of myself and what I do, as long as it's raw vegan. Walking the walk...very, very different from standing at the sidelines or edge of the pool talk

Anaken - <TSS...a lot of times when. Frederic Patenaude and others (Roger Haeske) speak of their expanded creativity; they're really speaking of their expanded marketability and increased number of raw domain names. > This was SO funny (and true). Gee, thank you for reposting this! I meant it to be a general question about raw-food and about raw-foodism, and to get people's dietary ideas, p

Briliant post, Bryan - too many good parts to quote, but if it were a book it'd have lots of underlinings and "how true!", "that's me!" in the margins. I am definitely a judgement type, but yesterday I saved myself by being an adjuster type. But one thing is strange - when I went raw the first time, I was coming from high-carbohydrate, low-protein eating (essentially, lo

DE, that's a poignant image and I charge you to bring it to digital life. I went to your site and really liked it! I think I meant "symbionts"; these are the organisms like the giant sloths or us who are in a symbiotic relationship with the tree, but the tree, the other organism, is the real "giver" and may or may not, get something back or something equal in return! Bryan, do you believe that iridology or applied kinesiology is or can be valid? Is it just hooey, totally? I was tested by an iridologist a few years ago, who successfully got me to buy as per her "prescription" about $10,000 or more's worth of this stuff that never worked in any way at all - oh, it was supposed to be so awesomely terrific. More currently, I was tested by a kinesi

I know I don't believe in inedia, even with sungazing!, but I often think that I could, or even should, live on a diet that supplies all the minerals, vitamins, protein, water, and so on that the body needs, but in very few calories. I mean like 200-400. They say people can live perfectly well on spirulina alone or bee pollen alone. Do you think it's possible to have a full, energetic, healthy li

I am on my third day 100%, too - except that Friday I had some yacon syrup from livesuperfoods.com and assumed it was "live", but it isn't, not the kind they sell - most of their stuff is NOT live - I mean, not heated below 118 - so maybe I should say I am on my second day. I haven't even eaten yet today, but I am going to. Welcome! It's nice that you learned from your mistakes - like a

Cousens is one of the "raw food gurus"; he has written many books over the decennia and recently represents the low-sugar school of raw eating, at least in print. He published a book called RAINBOW GREEN LIVE CUISINE, which spread the ideas of basically one person called Young (he writes the books in THE PH MIRACLE series), who says that we are all, even by far most rawists, being eaten

This is really fascinating information, arugula - thank you for posting! I don't know whether to worry about GI or not, but plainly the ranking of fructose is quite different from the ranking of GI - Cousens, for instance, would say that bananas and cantaloupe melons should only ever be rare treats, but blueberries are fine to eat freely!

Merci bouquet, DZM - power's not something I associate with myself. Nor success! But...maybe raw will change that. I quite feel the "raw" is not a problem, but I wonder if I couldn't be more relaxed about the how of staying raw, the Tao of How. I could trust myself...I mean, I don't like salt and I couldn't ever eat a lot of dates regularly, or make a regular habit of eating whole jars

Starfruit, did you meet David Jubb? Is he the one who opened PFW? I have heard he is a liquidarian - is that true? How did he look? Anyway, maybe I am just talking nonsense and he isn't the person you mean. Where do you live? Mid-town? Anyway, sounds like a fun adventure - just the sort of "great to be alive" raw adventure you would have. xo Meg

I have a hard time washing greens with tap water because of the chlorine! Sometimes I will run it under the tap and then wring the life out of it, sometimes I will make a batch of distilled just to pour on it, and most times I just flick off or scratch off the most prominent dirt with a finger and then just eat it. Glad you had a heliotropic, fresh fruit holiday - I bet you really tasted a dif

I crashed and had some pears - but it felt bad, so I stopped. I felt so disappointed in myself that I thought of really messing up and cooking some carrots (I should throw away my pot), but I thought about it a while and said to myself, "No, I really want to be raw. That's the only way I'm going to change things, to change myself. This really feels like a mistake (the pears), so tomorrow I w

Rawgetarian, khale has scolded me for being unkind to you, and I was thinking the same thing myself. I really need this community right now as I go raw and I need it to be a friendly place for everyone trying to be raw vegan. I think that we could have a better chance of getting along if you just kept one person to a username - having two people use the same one is unnecessary, isn't it? Don't yo

I am sorry - I was too confident. I just went 100% and think I'd better eat instead. I get starvation anxieties because in my early life I was literally starving. Maybe I can never do a fast. Maybe I shouldn't. But it all comes up in a way I can't handle by myself, that early trauma. I was a baby and didn't have any way to understand or cope with not being able to get food. Good luck! Don't wo

My second day is rough - I started a fast, but I keep staring at these pears I have all around - I have literally 25 pounds of unripe pears I just bought. They have been here for five days and are still rock solid. Yesterday I ate some anyway and got farty all day - it felt disgusting. I have read that eating under-ripe fruit is as bad as eating over-ripe fruit - maybe worse. It still is starchy.

I am juice-fasting now - you can join me if you want. You won't necessarily lose a lot of weight - it depends how much juice you drink and what kind. If you want to, you can choose juices you'll lose weight with. As for exercising, you can still do it - that is one of the big differences between juice and water fasting. You will just want to make sure you get enough juice. Why do you want to?

I was lying in bed last night realizing I had made a stupid mistake - I apologize so much!! The word I meant was "megafauna", not macrofauna - you are absolutely right that "macrofauna" are creatures visible to us with the naked eye, and "microfauna" need some sort of amplification before we can see them. Apparently, "megafauna" can be used in just this way

Hej Peisi - a coconut is a fruit, one of the few fruits (like olives and avocadoes) that is a fat, although nuts can be considered fruits. There are lots of different types of fruitarian. You can be a fruitarian who eats nothing but fruit - that is, nothing that kills a plant - so that means fruit, vegetable fruits like tomatoes, and nuts, basically. You can be a fruitarian who eats only juicy sw

It's great to be here on Day 1, everybody! As Sachelle says, I am trusting my body. This is a big thing. I'm just listening to what it's been crying out. I'm letting go of books, facts, websites, worries, most of all IDEAS, and I'm just giving it what it says is mm, good for it right now. It feels good. I was very, very scared the moment I woke up, but I know I have a lot of substances I am gi
