see what you think. I'd reconsider and get the dehydrator, make manna bread, dried tomatoes, trail mix, etc. It's a great extra option to freezing for preserving food. energy cost is relatively low. If you have a budget limit, that's fine. It may actually wind up saving you money in the long run depending on your spending habits of course. I routinely put my almond pulp into my manna bread

methionine is a sulfur-bearing amino acid that is usually the limiting amino acid in legumes (as lysine is the limiting amino acid in grains). Apart from legumes however, most other plant proteins have plenty of methionine in relationship to the other essential amino acids (i.e. those not produced by our own body). Ironically, there is actually a theory the methionine restriction maybe a us

Coco is in Canada, Chat. So, I can't speak for Canada being in the US. But if you want to sell a piece of food in the US as organic, we have a USDA certification program, the url is above. Theo original issue was the 3rd party verification if it came from outside the US. We didn't send USDA inspectors to China. We subbed it to a 3rd party contractor who didn't perform or at least I think t

If you live in the United States, the USDA Organic Standard prohibits any GMO in the product. . And Coco is right, there are different organic certifications. And you need to be familiar with what organic standard you are buying as well as the enforcement of the standard. Paul

spent too much capital on the other thread on this. Giraffes, elephants, rhinos, gorillas. Lots of big herbivorous animals out there eating nothing but plants. I wonder where they get their protein. Actually, Dr. Fuhrman believes (as do many) that animal protein and concentrated soy protein (e.g. isolated soy protein) can raise IGF-1 levels (insulin-like glucose factor, a hormone that is

Chat, I hadn't heard about mercury being an issue in sea vegetables. I think the main heavy metal in sea vegetables of concern is arsenic. In general, it's present only in very trace amounts, with the exception of hijiki. If buying hijiki, certified organic should mitigate the risk. On radiation, I know there was some concern after Fukishima. But honestly, my understanding is that a

Thanks BW, actually it's "many" foods rather than "most" but I take your point. Unfortunately, as you know, we lose the ability to edit the post after about 5 minutes. For me, I would take local conventional over Chinese organic if only because of the lack of QA for the USDA's third party QAI. That alone is enough for me to avoid it. To each their own. Paul

Accountability, if it's a USDA inspector, his findings are subject to one set of review. If it is a 3rd party, I don't know the process. Maybee it's fine. I guess we will have to wait until we get a complaint, though much exposure can occur between now and then. Paul

It sounded from the original 2008 story that Whole Foods outsourced their 3rd party inspection whereas if it were done in the US, it would be a USDA inspector. The Whole Foods response se

Vamp, Thanks for your thorough review. I have a Pro 500, which has some of the bells and whistles but is not the latest. So glad to hear it has been of some value. It simplifies some of the automation on a Blendtec panel. Did the 750 come with a recipe kit for the unit? Paul

A while back I posted on the large corporate nature of organic food. Now, come to find, most of the "organic food" from Whole Foods is from China. And the QA is not USDA inspectors but outsourced 3rd parties who really haven't done the job. I'm not arguing against eating organic food. Rather, I'm suggesting we be selective about the particular organic food we eat. Maybe

Sounds good. What do you think? It's associated with an outfit called hoslisticvoice.org with the money on the other side so to speak, it's useful to screen and critique our "allies'. I was heartened by Annie's story. And I want to add my healthy skepticism to the discusssion. What do you think? Paul

It's a different design to be sure. But it's still a centrifugal juicer. Notice on the video the proportion of leafy greens to fruit/root vegetable & higher fiber vegetable. Nothing against it. But even with the new design, I doubt it will do as well for leafy greens as an 8004. Paul
