from MykoWeb: QUOTE There seems to be an ongoing temptation amongst mycophagists and chefs to serve mushrooms raw or barely cooked. Generally speaking, this is not the best of ideas. The mycochitin composition of mushroom cell walls, as opposed to cellulose walls of plant cells, is difficult for humans to digest. Our stomachs resent indigestible items, and often forcibly reject them withou

Indeed, Arugula, the study is based on "cooked fooders" eating less than ideal foods, ie grains. The vegetables were most like not only cooked but overcooked. For "science" specific info on the diets is remarkably sparse. I have no clue what this means: "low-fat (contemporary therapeutic diet)" so I have no idea if the comparison is meaningful in any way at all.

My understanding is that the worse the diet the more the need to add fiber. Thus those who eat SAD need extra fiber so the gut will have something to push against to get the gunk ( meat, white flour, fat, etc. ) out. Hence the "high" fiber craze. Many people have been healed with juice diet. Some juice diets have been 90 days in length. Some folks on the longer juice diets may use

Raw food diet improves digestion and elimination, I imagine this means less pressure on the diaphragm and deeper easier breathing which may give easier access to calm states. Lack of stimulants in the diet & upsetting food combinations may also make meditation easier.

What have you been eating? What has your diet been in the past? Do you have time to rest and fast or switch to juice diet, etc.? The short "cure" is horseradish or hot salsa. But of course that is symptomatic and does not address cleaning out the toxic motherload your body is attempting to expel, in my opinion.

My understanding is that night time is a time for resting, dreaming, and bodily repair, as well as a doing a little extra detoxification . Resting means reduced metabolism. To force the body to work digesting food during this time is therefore counter-productive. My understanding is that if one eats proper meals during the day the habit of snacking can be overcome, particularly in the evening.

...I like the taste and feel of raw vegan best, IF, big IF I don't have to DO much. ie. not enough energy... ...To consume the quantity of calories required seemed impossible, probably because in three-and-one-half months of high-water-content correctly-combined 100%-Raw-vegan diet, (during which I did three brief fasts), detox as indicated by a white tongue never ceased for a moment. ...So I

Dear John Thank you for some of the history of the natural hygiene society, and some logical arguements against Dr. Stanley S. Bass's and Dr. John Fielder's opinions. As regards: "On a final note, for every one who still thinks we need to eat animal products, please tell me one nutrient that we need from animals that we cannot obtain from plants, ..." I think it's a question of

If you ask here I will tell you it's all true and it will happen to you if you follow my way of doing it, want to buy a bridge while you're at it? Seriously if your previous diet was bad and you are young and relatively healthy chances are you will quickly get some benefit...and or some detox symptoms--longer term your milage may vary...nothing ventured nothing gained. Bruce thank you for pointing out the dangers of the alternatives. It was not my sentence though--it was a quote from the info at the posted link. Many gardeners have used treated wood to frame raised beds. But as recent research has demonstrated, arsenic in the treatment leaches into soil and is taken up by plants' roots. So what can you use to frame garden beds instead? # Use a naturally rot-resistant wood such as cedar. # Trex lumber is made from recycled plastic and wood scraps, comes in standard sizes and can be found at
