I just looked at the Hamilton Big Mouth by going to Google. It's a centrifugal juicer so you'd want to peel the lemon, especially if it's not Organic. There would be no need to core the apples if you used them in another recipe. Your Hamilton juicer should do a nice job making Carrot Lemonade. Good Luck......WY

Crisyn......Another thing you might decide to do is order a smaller container in addition to the 64 oz. container that comes with the machine. I use the 64 oz. container for composting fruit and vegetable scraps and use a 48 oz. container for individual sized Smoothies and Blended Salads. Vita-Mix no longer makes the 48 oz. container, however they do sell a 32 oz. container. It's a bit pricey,

Crisyn......I never bought the dry blade for my Vita-Mix. The Vita-Mix 5000 comes without the dry blade and extra container for about $100 less. I purchased a small coffee mill for making nut butters but rarely use it. It does a good job if you only eat small amounts at a time. It also comes in white, which is the one I own.......WY P.S. Making nut butters in a blender, or juicer, only makes

When well known TV Chef Jacques Pepin was asked..."What kind of knives do you like the most", his reply was..."I like the sharp ones". I guess this sums up JoRobertA's post above about using the Nutrisource when the Greenstar is a superior juicer. I enjoy using my Omega 4000 for juicing carrots......WY

I'd guess that you're drinking the juice too soon after eating solid food. You might try drinking your juice on an empty stomach and see if it doesn't give you energy instead of a bloated feeling.......WY

The Champion works by masticating (a tearing action) rather than by the squeezing action of the single-auger juicers. The Champion isn't the best juicer for Kale. Yes, I've had similar problems with the Champion. I used to use it years ago for juicing carrots and it did a fair job. Here recently, I bought a new Champion for my girlfriend for juicing watermelon rind (organic only) and again had si

I would like to recommend the Vita-Mix 5000. The only 'flaw' is the polycarbonate container, where glass would be better. I think I read somewhere that the K-Tec has programmed cycles and doesn't always blend efficiently. I like the manual controls of the Vita-Mix. Plus, I like the Tamper for pushing the mixture with the Vita-Mix. The K-Tec doesn't have a Tamper. The claim is that it's not neede

By the way, I love carrot juice too. How much do you drink at a time? I guess I'm addicted to it, usually drinking a quart or more most every morning.......WY

This is exciting.....growing wheatgrass. The kit is a good start. If you decide you want to grow wheatgrass on a regular basis, you'll develop your own special techniques. The fertilizer I recommend is a mixture of vegetable scraps (I use carrot) and clay (for trace minerals). I blend it in my Vita-Mix. Everything should be very 'clean' smelling, so growing in your kitchen should pose no problem

Blending and juicing are both good. Try them both then decide what's best for you. Juicing is much more difficult than Blending. That's why I said start with Blending. I prefer Juicing. The main thing is to do something.......WY

That's not a ridiculous question at all. The answer is....."It all depends." Most wheatgrass growers plant in shallow trays with very little potting mix and no fertilizer. That type of grass is only good for one cutting. If you grow outside, or in deeper (no drain) trays with fertililizer, you might get several cuttings of good grass. I grow in deep bowls with fertilizer, but rarely cut

Food Savers are time savers. I remember years ago I used to juice carrots for the day and store what I didn't drink right away. I used a Pump-n-Seal device that did a pretty good job of taking the air out of the containers. Best to prepare fresh as needed.....WY

I'd recommend that you start with a blender for Blended Salads and Fruit Smoothies. You may decide later that you'd like to do some juicing. Our bodies don't run as efficiently on food as they do on juices, nor do we have as much energy. The hardest work our body does is digesting food and expelling the pulp.......WY

Yes, the Omega 8005 does a nice job juicing wheatgrass if it's anything like an earlier model that I used to own (8002). The screen and auger have been improved on the 8005. I presently use a Wheateena Green Label for juicing my wheatgrass. As for growing wheatgrass indoors in minimum light....Yes you can. However, it would be best for it to get some sunlight. I grow some very 'Green' and nutrit

Cute story Sapphire. It sounds like you have a nice relationship with your son. I have a friend who 'wolfs' down her food too, much like your son. She's heard of Mastication (and the other word you referred to) but it doesn't help. One of the 'famous' juicers recommends chewing your juice. I believe it is "Juiceman" Jay Kordich......WY

jj......That was a good solution, but I don't have a fireplace. I'm going back to composting them even though it's a lot of work. I used to use the citrus rinds as part of the fertilizer for my wheatgrass, but it made it too acid and the blades weren't as green.......WY

I 'Googled' Cilantro and found that it's a member of the carrot family, even though it's a Green. It's also called Chinese Parsley. Years ago, when Natural Hygiene was at its 'peak', there was major concern about proper food combinations. But now, Fruit Smoothies are left to the imagination of the preparer, including almost anything. I think Bananas and Cilantro would make a good smoothie, comb

I've always preferred carrot juice over blended carrots, even though something could be said for the fiber that is lost in the juicing. I use the carrot pulp in my garden and my plants and trees grow like 'crazy'. A juicer just can't extract all the nutrition. A case could be made for blending because nothing is lost, except what is lost by oxidation. Norman Walker drank a quart, or more, of car

Good, Renee, we should all follow your example. 'Fletcherism' was coined after Horace Fletcher. He was referred to as "The Great Masticator". Apparently he wasn't that health-minded as he only lived 70 years. He was overweight and couldn't get insurance, so he devised a way of eating that included all the pleasure but not the bulk. He would chew each bite of food until it became liquid

You may be adding too much water. I, too, have a Vita-Mix and sometimes make Green Smoothies, but mostly Fruit Smoothies. I have a friend who makes Blended Salads by 'loosely' blending the mixture for just a few seconds. It makes it all very chewable. I believe the smoothies are easier to digest, even though some oxidation takes place, and some nutrients are lost. Smoothies are good because we ju

ELL......Remember the time we used to argue back and forth about Sea Water taken directly from the ocean versus water reconstituted from salt? You gave me 'H__l' for paying $50 for a gallon of concentrated sea water called OceanGrown. I think the price is now $100 for a gallon. I've quit using salt water in the growing of my wheatgrass. Do you use it for anything?......WY
