if you eat dehydrated foods, you will need to drink extra water to compensate.

mallow, try blending the raw cacao with avocado in a food processor. Approx 1.5 heaped tablespoons per avocado. Suggest you put in 1 heaped tablespoon first and taste test. Keep adding and taste testing. (It sounds weird, but works and is so yummy). You will also need to add some kind of sweet fruit that will blend smooth and combine with avocado (in order to sweeten it as the raw cac

If you soak nuts or seeds overnight and do not get round to using them in the morning. What is the best way to store them (as I have read not to soak them for too long). So instead of leaving them during the day still soaking, what is the best thing to do? Drain and leave draining room temp? Drain and put into the fridge? Drain and put them into dark place to sprout (even if you didn't wan

Hi Yogamama, I think it probably is the maca in your case. My understanding is that maca is made from a starch veg and I guess (if you look at the food combining charts) starch and fruit ... Hhmm ... it isn't combining well in your own individual digestive system. I don't think it combines that well for me either when I add it to nut and seed milks (for the same reason ... nuts and seeds app

Hi Funky Rob, Yes, London does seem to be the place to get the non-organic ones. I've seen them in China Town (as well as non-organic Durian etc), but I really, really want to find some organic ones ... Hhmmm! Anybody have any info re finding them in U.K.? Thanks John

Hi VeganLife, Yes, I've read about it (cannot remember where) and was very curious ... one of the reasons that it would be really interesting to find out whether this has happened to any of you ...???? I've read about teeth regeneration in the 'Raw Family' book by Boutenkos. As well as in some of the books by Prof Hilton Hotema. So have any of you had any raw food miracles ... because I

Yes it is tricky to decide how many to have. David Wolfe in one of his books (I think 'Sunfood Success System') recommends no more than 0.33 lbs or 0.15 kg of nuts and / or seeds per day. He says something about them clogging up the digestive system, also being acidic ... so advises to eat them with leafy greens to balance that out. He makes other comments too. In addition I have read in

Hi Horsea, Great to hear that you appear to be ok regarding the spit test. I wish I was. Can I ask whether you eat any sort of fermented raw foods to help promote healthy gut bacteria e.g. sauerkraut? I keep seeing recipes for them in my raw food books, but haven't made any myself. Also do you eat nuts and sweet fruits on a regular basis? Especially stuff like ripe bananas and dried f

Zensight, I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. That sounds great - well done. I had been thinking of trying it with some orange juice and zest, but never got round to it. I just wasn't sure whether the orange would go ok with the avocado. (Although it goes so well with choc). You have inspired me to try that myself now. Many thanks. Purenkind, it is very smooth with the avocados. But I can

I guess it depends what your diet was before going raw / high raw etc. Some people come straight from a 'junk food meat-based diet' to raw ... wow what a swift change that must be. Such a shock to the system and the mind! Mine was far more gradual and just flowed at its own speed. I was 3 yrs vegetarian (I loved that shift and never would like to eat meat / fish again), before naturall

Have any of you had any raw food miracles (other than losing weight)? I'm talking about stuff like grey hair going back to its natural colour, eyes turing a differnt colour, teeth regrowing / regenerating etc. If so, I would be fascinated to hear more. John

I've been doing this type of candida spit test occasionally over the past few years and monitoring how it changes. I find it very interesting to empower ourselves as much as we can to read our own body. In addition, I have been to 4 professionals over the past 6 years where I have asked whether I might have a candida overgrowth (a herbalist/colonic therapist, a nutritionist, a doctor and ano

La_veronique and Wheatgrass Yogi, I love the fact that it is a bliss filled moving meditation for you. I feel that way when I choose and buy my lovely organic fruit and veg, and when I am in nature and many other things ... somehow I haven't yet found the bliss in washing up the juicer. I'm not sure why, so I surrender it up to the universe. Please, just out of curiosity, would you just tim

Those of you who have a green star juicer and enjoy using it and use it daily ... pls let me know your secret. I love the juice that I get from mine and I appreciate the quality of the juice. And I want to really enjoy it. However, I totally hate the dismantling and cleaning of it. I must be missing something that would make it far easier. It seems to take too long. In the UK we general

Please try this very quick, free and easy spit test in connection with candida and let me know how you get on I did it this morning, but have just noticed that I didn't use room temp bottled water (instead cold from tap). So will try it again. (Not sure why it should be room temp bottled). Good luck John

Wow ... what can I say! That's given me a whole lot to think about now. I am so glad that you posted that info. Originally, I posted my message because I was getting somewhat confused with the marketing info in some of the raw on-line shops. Some saying nectar, some saying syrup, light, dark, some from blue agave plant etc. And I was trying to discern which was the healthiest and I was gue

I have a query re raw agave nectars / syrups. There seem to be 2 different types of raw agave available and I am trying to understand the difference between them. None of my friends seem to know the difference. Can somebody let me know which of the 2 types of raw agave is the healthiest? Also what is the difference between them? Many thanks, John

Being affected by noise can be a sign of B12 deficiency. B12 is a very controversial subject with differing opinions. Many people are taking B12 supplements.

A bit more choc pudding info. I've made a few variations of this pudding recently. I tried it with an equal amount of raw carob powder to the raw cacao powder. I didn't think it was as nice with the carob. The carob powder seemed to make it have a coarser texture, whereas the raw cacao alone gives a very silky smooth texture. Also, I tried it with raw cacao and some maca, again I pre

I finally got around to having a play in the kitchen to make a choc pudding with an avocado base. Wow I love it and have made lots of it since. Actually I don't even like avocados (sorry, 'cos I know lots of you love them), but it tastes lovely. I'm sure many of you will have done this before, but for those of you who haven't ... Blend (or use a food processor) and put in for 1 portion

Hi Ian, So any more news on the fabulous choccie creations? I have now remembered why the raw chef said not to use water in the raw choc and it was because it can make it separate. She was using coconut oil/butter in her choc and not cacao butter (personally I would probably prefer the raw cacao butter for a more rich and intense choc taste). I'm not sure if it would still be a problem wit

In case you have not yet got a recipe: The way I make sesame milk is to soak approx 2 tablespoons per person (for 1 glass) of whole raw sesame seeds in water overnight and then rinse and strain the seeds. As it is easy to overconsume fats in nuts and seeds on a raw food diet (e.g. in raw hummus, salad dressings, pates, raw crackers and milks as well as nuts / seeds eaten on there own as a

Ian, Thanks for sharing your choccie candy recipes with us. If this is of any help with your choccie creations - I was at the raw Fresh Festival (UK) yesterday and they had a chocolate demo on stage (as well as truly amazing food). Amy (raw chef) said something about it being important to not add any water to the chocolate, as it spoils it in some way. Also, they have to be covered up in th

I want to make a yummy raw choc cheesecake - like the cooked english ones - which are like a very thick, deep, velvety choc cream sitting on a biscuity type base (I think they might be a little different in some countries). I know it can be done, has anybody made one? I'm wondering if I tried to use avocado and/or coconut jelly meat from green coconut to get a thick creamy effect going and th
