I've been trying to find a website for T. Colin Campbell, the author of "The China Study". I was wondering if in all his research,he ever looked in to the Raw Foods movement. The book was so wonderful, I was just curious. Does anyone know of a way to send him a question? Thank You. Linda

Hi all-- Going camping over the 4th and I was wondering if anyone had any good camping food ideas. We will have a small frig with us (I know, not exactly roughing it) along with a cooler. I don't own a decent dehydrator (not to bring, but for beforehand prep)--just the kind that can only dehydrate something larger than a silver dollar or bigger. Thanks! Linda

I've been using the "Green Bags" to keep my produce fresh. I understand the vacuum sealing works very well also. Is one better than the other? Also, what are some recommendations to keep liquids such as dressings and sauces from going bad in your refrigerator? Thank You.

Thanks guys-- Veronique--you could be right--sometimes, being the only raw fooder in my household, things can sit in my frig for a while. And being cost conscious I really hate to throw out food. I do a juice fast every Monday so maybe after tomorrow things will clear up. I'm sure it's not serious, but I hate being so cranky 'cos everything is such an effort. Linda

I've been raw for almost 6 months now and have not had a problem until now. I had a bout of rather severe diarrhea this week that lasted for 2 days. I think I might have traced it to the raw unsoaked pumpkin seeds but I can't be sure. I really didn't eat that many of them, but that's the only different thing I'd been eating. Now I have extreme fatigue. It practically hurts to walk up the stair

Regarding the sleep thing---I know Martha Stewart always says that she only needs 3 hours of sleep every night. I believe her, but I also believe that certain people are just wired differently, and can do that with no ill effects. Re Ann Wigmore, etc. The important thing is that if you are one of these lucky people, try not to influence others that this is the only "right" way. Most

Hi Njm--I wish I had an answer for you, but I too am interested in getting more info on Raw vacations. I was thinking of looking in to cruises, but I'm not sure about the meals. If anyone has any suggestions, now there are 2 of us looking. Actually the dates you selected are around the time we want to go too--maybe we should organize a group cruise/tour for this message board?? Linda

Hi all--I was in Whole Foods yesterday and wanted to buy some raw tahini for this great dressing I wanted to make. The price for a 16 oz. jar of their raw tahini was $15.99!!! Can't I just grind some sesame seeds in a grinder or blender or food processor and make my own? Or is there something I am missing to justify that steep price?..... Thanks!

I made a mushroom quiche, and it's pretty good except that there was obviously too much lemon juice required and it takes away from the flavor. Is there anything I can add to it or sprinkle on top to counteract this sour flavor? Maybe date sugar or something similar? The quiche does not have any sweetener or sweet fruits included, just veggies and nuts. Thank You. Linda

Hi all-- I was just about to make the crust for a mushroom quiche since I have to dehydrate it overnight, and I realize it calls for "germinated" walnuts. How long do I have to soak these? Would it be bad if I didn't soak them? These nuts are unshelled and were bought at Fruitful Yield. Please respond quickly, and if you need anymore information, I'll be monitoring. Thanks!

Hi all-- I just purchased an Omega 1000 juicer and tried making a green drink a couple of times. I find that after putting a ton of greens through it, or what I think is a "ton" of greens--I end up with a 1/2 cup of juice. Is this right? Am I supposed to add some other kind of liquid? What does everyone else use? Thank You. Linda

I just E-Mailed the supplier who supplies raw nuts to Fruitful Yield. Here is what they said: "Many nuts we and most nut sellers provide are generally pasteurized by the supplier and most commonly use Propylene Oxide, an approved gas similar to the Ethylene Oxide that is used on fruits. Since this is not a heating they are still raw. The Almonds we sell are pasteurized using a flash st

Mira--I'm so glad I read your post today. I just called my local Whole Foods, and the manager there said that any nuts sold in the US are pasturized, and if I want truly raw nuts, I have to get them from a different country. That just shot down my idea of going raw. I can't afford to spend that kind of money on imported nuts. Or is this manager clueless? Help! Thanks--Linda

Brian--I can relate to your post. For some of us it is death. But for others I think in moderation it probably isn't too bad. Although I wouldn't think wine or any alcohol would be considered raw. Doesn't the fermentation process include heat? Maybe not, I'm not sure. Linda

16. Re: Tea
Thank you so much, Healthybun! But I'm not quite sure what that means. What is white tea? Can I buy it in the store? Does 60 degrees celsius teacup mean that I should warm my cup first? We Americans can be numbskulls when it comes to tea you know..... LJE

17. Tea
I apologize if I missed this discussion earlier, but I just need to verify that the tea you buy in the store is NOT raw? Even if I use hot tap water? Thank You. Linda

Hi all-- I am about to try a recipe for raw potato chips, but I was wondering if anyone out there has a good recipe for a nice raw creamy chip dip? I used to make a dip (pre-raw) with cream cheese, onions, milk and horseradish, but I don't know if that would make a good raw dip. Thank You.

Hi again-- What is the difference between putting all my fruits and/or vegetables in a blender and making juice that way, as opposed to using a "juice extractor"? I'm thinking of doing a juice fast for a day or so and was considering buying a juice extractor. But I do have a really good blender too. Thanks Ahead of Time Linda

I'm thinking of buying this discontinued juicer off of Craig's List. It is a 120v, 60hz & 450 watts GE Juice extractor. They are offering $40 for it. Can anyone tell me if they think it's a good deal? Thanks! And please don't anyone steal it from me,and buy it from underneath my nose-- LJE

Hi all-- After reading the great book, "Skinny Bitch", I am thinking of trying a raw foods diet for a couple of days. I have a Whole Foods near my house, and I was wondering what I should buy. I read a lot of articles on this great site, and it seems to me that if I buy raw nuts and seeds I have to soak (sprout) them? Also if anyone can give me a hint on anything else to buy tha
