Great advice from both of you.. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'll give sustainability and preparation more attention, David. Raw noogin, wild rice in salad is a good idea, especially since I have some sitting in my cupboard waiting to be used. Thanks again, Ez ps. Look forward to reading your posts

Hi everybody I have question about raw food diet transition. In highschool I mostly ate junkfood for breakfast lunch and dinner. Now I'm 20, in college with a low budget - no more than 7 fruits per day + romaine lettuce for lunch and maybe some cashews. This is not enough to sustain high energy levels. So the length of everyone's detox period is different. What can I do in the mean time

This is my favorite soup base.. It's naturally sweet and plays nicely off of spicier ingredients. carrots, celery, taro stem, crushed almonds, baby chiles, calabash gourd, and green onion bulbs into a large bowl filled with the milk of a young coconut, then scoop out the flesh and put that in the bowl as well. Quick and tasty!

Uti, Fruitarian one, Sod off socks... Great stories and pictures. These photos have inspired me to post a picture of the guy who introduced me to raw and living foods. Courtesy of Casey's girlfriend Sarica. He is on the left at 8 months raw, I'm on the right, been eating raw for about 3 months.

Hi Anaken, I'm mixing smoothies in the vitamix and occasionally put the contents into a nutbag to extract pure juice. So there is a difference between "alkaline forming" and "alkaline in composition", and green smoothies/juices fall into the former category? Can anyone confirm this? I have heard that vitamix oxidizes your juice quickly due to fast rpm.. Would oxidizatio

Polycarbonate is a high quality plastic that is used to make water bottles because it prevents the leeching of chemicals into your drinking water. I read that there is a slight risk of Bisphenol-A exposure after the bottles are worn out through dishwashing, heavy use, or exposed to alkaline substances. What I'm wondering is, can I store green juices in this water bottle? Is the alkalinity level o

If you don't have a juicer, blended smoothies are a satisfying alternative to chewing the equivalent number of fruits and vegetables every meal. Jucin John, do you really eat 20 pounds of carrots every day?

Vitamix does me very well over all. I can't afford the amount of produce it takes to do multiple juices perday. A whole foods smoothie fills me up for several hours and provides everything available from the fruit, for less money than a pure juice diet. Also, I tried blending the drinks for less time today and it was the perfect temperature/consistency. Thanks again WY.

Hi there, Question for you.. Every time I put nuts or seeds in the blender, my vitamix motor is heating up (overheating?) and the smoothie gets hot. The juice is not scalding, but I wonder if the heat is killing them enzymes, and if there are any good techniques to keeping the blender cool?

That second chord is from Randy Newman's song "I'll be home", covered by Harry Nilsson on Nilsson sing Newman. Definitely recommend that album if you haven't heard it and are seeking some pop genius in full effect..

hi, this question is for anyone who has done a series of colon hydrotherapy sessions before.. I am 20 years old and 80% raw for about one month, primarily vegetarian for a year prior. Most people do four to six sessions the first time around, but at seventy to one hundred dollars per session I want to make sure that each session is really benefitting me. You can understand.. So far I have don

Hello raw and living foods community, I am new to this forum and the raw vegan lifestyle. many questions but one that stands out in my mind is the strange sensation reoccuring when I eat KALE or raw BEETS. It is a tingling, burning feeling that lasts for several hours with no effects on the voice or swallowing. has anybody else experienced this? What do you eat to balance out this acidic burn
