I would stick to the "normal" fruit. There is big controversy surrounding "raw chocolate" and the cacao plant, whether it should be eaten. I have found people who eat raw cacao defend it much like addicts defend their coffee, alcohol/wine, regular chocolate choices. I think the stimulating effect of cacao should make you question what is doing this? I stay on the safe si

The thing with nut butters is you can eat a tremendous amount of nuts without realizing it. And especially when you combine the nut butter with something else, you are setting yourself up for overeating it right from the start. Naturally you would never eat that many nuts, EVER! If you had to smash every shell yourself, you get an idea how many nuts we should eat. A very good measure as to wh

I consider an avocado a fruit, as well as nuts from a tree. I am mostly all fruit and although I eat nuts, a handful a day maximum is what you should have. Hand shelling nuts is the best way to give you an idea for how easily you would be eating them... unlike avocados and other fruits. You can stop eating them easier when you have to crack them open yourself. Not to mention nuts are dryer wh

It is hard not to overpush raw foodism to people though; you have to remind yourself that you didn't know either at one time... If you told me I would give up animal products 4 years ago, I would have said you are an idiot and go away with your hippie crap. I would have never believed a thing I, MYSELF say today 4 years ago. There is no person who could convince me people should not eat raw foo

I say go RAW COMPLETELY, and worry about the details of how much fruit/fat once you can do that consistently for a period. But don't overeat raw treats such as dehydrated things, agave syrup, tahini, nut butters, etc. The further away from the natural state, the further it should be from the center of your diet!! Other than those rules, I go on how I feel at the moment, by body tells me when I

How would you know if you weren't getting B12?... and it wasn't one of 100000000 other things.

I don't know if it is a question of what it does to the food you eat with it or before it or after it... If one pill of "medicine" with ever so slight an amount of something in it can have such an effect on your body, think about the amount of something it takes to stop yourself from achieving the utmost of health. This is what I think about quite often when old tastes and aromas

I went raw... because 1) It makes sense, therefore 2) I am going to do the best thing for my body, because 3) I want to ideally not age at all so I can 4) Have a long, worryfree life about diseases so I can 5) Be an example to those who I can teach nutrition/raw food/self motivation and strength in any aspect of their life without worrying about getting sick. Raw food/nutrition is a message for

Cacao... nevermind I won't start that discussion. It is great you are getting your kids more aware! I am a reverse case and have been vegan since 16 and harped on everbody about health... my mom is now almost vegetarian and eats lots of fresh juices, smoothies, steamed veggies, etc!!

To be fair, a month is not a very long time. I have been consistently mostly raw for 1.5 years, and 99% at least for several months and my body is still doing odd things. I am very strict about what I put in, or on my body (including household/clothing cleaners, water filters, and the amount of certain foods I eat)... transition can be tremendously hard. And I am coming from a vegan diet of 3

This would be the least of my concerns to be honest... you can over eat nuts and other proteinaceous things and be much worse off. Overeating greens is on the bottom of my list for concerns. If I don't feel like eating something, I don't eat it! Your body is always a good judge.

Transition can be very tough, even from a VERY strict vegan diet ( I have done this same thing). Obviously I am a guy so I cannot relate to certain things, but my gosh do not deprive yourself of fat if you feel you want it. As long as it is raw plant fat and you do not overeat one food consistently (say eat pounds of nuts of the same type all the time which can lead to food allergies and other

I won't be a teen much longer (may 13th)... but I have been vegan for 3 years and mostly raw for at least 1.5. I have been 99-100& for several months consistently now and don't plan on changing anytime soon.. I have been on the forums (signed up) for some time now, but do not post very often.

I am wondering why you picked bananas? Or why someone would "fast" on bananas over other fruits/veggies and/or their juices. I ask because of the hybridization of banananas and the lack of seeds in the fruit; no wild fruit does not contain seeds... bananas, watermelon, seedless grapes are all hybrid fruits. I try to minimize my intake of said things and I notice that I am much more b

What is wrong with raw plant fat? Every food has some amount of fats, sugars, proteins... in the very basic forms. I have been eating around 10 avocados a day for a short period just because my body has wanted it. Fluxuation like this is natural I think. Overcomplicating things is not something I like to do. I like to go on how I feel (mind you, NOT HOW MY TASTEBUDS FEEL!) and judge when I'v

Sorry, but just because something is raw doesn't mean it is good. I understand rawgetarian might not have been helpful, but no need to say certain choice words. Maybe some more informative information would be useful? Seek out for yourselves about "raw" cashews and other ingredients, but remember not to overeat the raw junk foods...yes there is such a thing. Try hand shelling nuts

I actually am around 6' and 140-150 always. I'm not a crazy body builder and could care less about weighing a ridiculous weight, but I do golf almost every other day and walk the course frequently. I have no loose skin whatsoever (although I am 19, hehe), and a veryyyy low percentage of body fat. The only fatty foods I eat is 1 or 2 handful of nuts a day max... or avocados once every few weeks

Being sensitive to a variety of nuts I would not eat many nuts while transitioning to a raw diet. I think you should also do some reading on protein... you will learn very quickly that protein is not something that does or does not make you sick or healthy by itself. You will also find that an adequate source of proteins are in every raw food and when you eat a variety of raw vegan foods you ge

I have noticed a lack of discussion on this topic in these forums ( I have been a lurker since joining, couple months I think it has been). When a new person comes in and talks about being tired, this should be a finger pointed to a possible problem. I'm not sure how many(if any) are aware of the fluxuating food allergies that happen in raw foodism as well as any other diet.

Eating consistently throughout the day makes more sense to me and has worked great for me also. Consider the amount of calories you would take in during one of those "3 square meals" and how difficult it would be to digest those cooked foods and compare that to fruits/vegs which range from 70-80%s water. I find a much more consistent energy with raw "snacking."
