I think green smoothies are the healthiest food you can eat. I start my day with one made with kale, sprouts and fruit such as bananas or mango or whatever. For lunch (doesn't anybody else have a 9 to 5 job?) I have some fruit like watermelon or berries, unless i cheat and have a vegan wok or sandwich. For dinner I have a salad one night and some cooked beans or gardenburger the next night

I have a green smoothie (Kale, sprouts and fruit) in the AM, some fruit usually for lunch (I work in a store similar to Whole Foods, so sometimes when I'm in a bad mood I slip up and have some vegan pasta, but don't tell anybody, for dinner a salad every other night and a cooked food, usually some beans, every other night for my son. Also a glass of orange juice. So, not really a raw foodist, but

I said that all true saints prescribe a lacto-vegetarian diet. My point was that they forbid the eating of meat and eggs... and that they aren't necessary for our health. After 17 years following my teacher's prescribed lacto-vegetarian diet, i have taken the step to become vegan, and as raw as possible. I am happy about that and feel it is a healthy step. But I don't appreciate being jumped on f

I sympathise with your situation. It does sound like it could be difficult. But at least you have parents that are willing to "take care of you," albeit not in the manner that you would desire. But they are at least partially there for you. My parents didn't want to have anything to do with my problems. I could hardly talk to them. They would never have considered letting me move back i

alive! It sounds like you have a pretty healthy diet to me. You've got me beat, that's for sure. Both in creativity and variety. Maybe that's why you've lost weight and I haven't.

You're lucky. I haven't lost any weight, and I have little bumps all over my skin that won't go away. I've only been about 75 to 85% raw. Maybe that is why. Have you been 100%?

Yeah! I've noticed that, too, since going raw. I don't ever seem to feel uncomfortable when others are complaining about the heat or cold. Funny.

No one NEEDS meat or eggs in their diet. Dairy may be beneficial, but many millions of people have lived long and happy lives without eating eggs or meat! It's wrong.

Nearly every true spiritual teacher (saint) recommends a lacto-vegetarian diet, eating dairy, but no eggs or meat of any kind. This is quite healthy and sufficient, as my athletic son and millions of others have proven. No one needs to eat meat, but some dairy might be helpful, as well as beans.

Brewer's yeast is cooked, huh? It must be. But I have been craving it. Tonight I dumped a ton on my salad, and got a stomach ache.

I have been about 80% raw for at least a month, and I've only lost about 3 lbs. (I need to lose 40.) I can't explain it, but I feel your pain.

A video I saw recently listed the amount of protein in various veggies. Many (especially green leafies) have more protein than beef. Spinach was one of the highest listed.

Thanks! I took out the midrib, and the smoothy was great! I don't have the time or patience for processing the midrib, but I will include it if i ever get a superblender. Has anyone else read Victoria Boutenko's "Green For Life" book. It's pretty persuasive about green smoothies. (Blended, not juiced.)

Victoria Boutenko's book "Green For Life" has a chapter in it about protein. She makes a very convincing case for Green Smoothies everyday. (Not juiced, but blended so you get the fiber.) Anyway, this chapter conveys the general idea that there are high quantities of amino acids in dark leafy greens, and that these amino acidss are actually superior to animal protein for use by the

Cool! My son just graduated frrom u of o. I am 50, no 51, and I work at New Seasons Market. Are you familiar with New SEasons? It's a great locally owned chain of stores with lots of organic produce and stuff from local farmers and products. Sorry. I guess I sound like an ad. I've been transitioning from lacto veg to raw vegan for about a month. Do you want to tell me about you? How long have

I've had good luck with Earthlink. Their "Starter PAck" has been fine and is about $26/mo. I think Speakeasy is also good.

It's taken me a month to get detox symptoms. I kinda think you're lucky! Anyway, Veloria Raw is right that it can't hurt to eat healthy foods, and it will probably help, unless you fell you are going through detox too much too fast. Then maybe a little cooked would moderate it.

It's impossible for us to know whether s/he has blood sugar regulation problems or is manic depressive, but they certainly aren't the same thing! Anyone that is truly bipolar will tell you that. If you think you are, you should see a doc.
