Hey! I live in the Coolidge/CG area actually. But I'd like to know which restaurants in Tucson serve raw meals... the only one I know about was in the Gentle Strength food co-op in Phoenix and they closed!

Couple of questions here. One, is anyone from Arizona? I'm from a tiny town inbetween Phoenix and Tucson and I am sure there's nobody else around here, but what about in the cities? Send me a PM or reply if you want! Also- how do you raw foodies do it in cold places, if you're trying to eat organic and locally? What do you eat in the winter? (This may seem like a really ignorant questio

I agree... I don't see anything wrong with it. It's not socially acceptable, of course. But babies are SUPPOSED to nurse for at least two years, preferably longer. Women have learned to wean them off early to make it more convenient for their lunch dates. Besides, isn't breastfeeding a natural contraceptive?

I used depo provera, which I hated, and the pill, which I also hate. I have ovarian cysts, and they put me on the pill to try to get rid of them. Apparently it worked, or at least it had by the last time I went back to the doctor. Now, my fiance and I don't use anything. We aren't actively trying to have kids (something my doctor told me would require fertility drugs, etc.) but we really wa

I work at a Safeway, and I'm a copywriter. It's good for getting foods cheaper, but this is a small community so there's not a lot of support for organic stuff. The copywriting bit is actually how I found out more in-depth about going raw

i feel your pain. mirasol from what i hear is a good place. i am the same way, have used my ED as an excuse for just about everything. becoming a raw foodist is sort of my way of giving it up, taking the fate of my adipose tissue out of my hands and living in harmony with my body... it's hard though. i have never been sent to 'recover' and the psychiatrists i've talked to haven't done anyth

thanks everybody for your replies! when i say 'diet' i don't mean a structured food plan, just to indicate that what i eat consists of raw foods (sort of like you'd say "an anteater's diet is..." with no reference to weight loss, etc.) i'm not planning on dieting at all, calorie restricting, etc. i just want to eat when i'm hungry, stop when i'm full, and fuel my body with good things

This is going to be one of the biggest obstacles in my raw food diet. I haven't begun yet... I will in a couple of days. Calories present a problem to me. What is the raw foodist's idea on them? Do they even matter if I eat when I'm hungry and then stop when I'm full? My fiance is slightly concerned about me trying this because I had an eating disorder previously, and still have a bit of t

Aaugh!! I was hoping there was a cure for this I think my addiciton to ice cream is more mental than physical though so, hopefully, as I replace ice cream with fruit, I won't want it anymore.

oatmeal paste (made from ground oatmeal, you can do this yourself with a cheap mortar and pestle) is GREAT for your face. the natural fats in oatmeal make your skin smooth and beautiful. I use Dr. Bronner's soap, which can be expensive, but I think I paid $16 for the biggest container and it's been 4 months and I've barely used a twelfth of it.

Hey, go to www.localharvest.org and you can find farmers that grow stuff in season, who sell organic things, etc. to the public or at farmer's markets. Also try learning about hydroponics, or windowsill gardening. I have a friend who grew tomatoes in winter in her house. While organic eating is definitely recommended the truth is more raw fruits and veggies can benefit everybody. So eat organ

Hey, we sound like we come from similar places! It's hilarious because my dad always says 'Deb's the healthy one, she eats well' because I eat salads and the rest of my family doesn't. Ha! Because of my eating disorder I got really into bingeing for a while (after periods of starvation) and now I can put away ice cream, cheese, crackers, even crazy stuff like chocolate frosting, like you would

hey basil. nice to meet you... i don't know if we're coming from a similar place, but i share a lot of feelings about food in general, but it's because i've had an eating disorder for a while. i don't consider myself to have one now but i do have a disordered mentality. but i never felt guilty when i ate 'pure' and 'good' foods, raw foods etc. so i'm hoping to feel much better now that i'm try

Hi, nice to meet you! You sound like you've done great so far with your lifestyle changes. Do you feel better? I'm coming from the same place you are. Raised among country folk who think a good meal is a steak and baked potato or a pork chop and a baked potato and McDonalds was a regular treat for us. I'm giving it all up! I don't think I'll have any regrets.

Hi everyone. In two days I will become a raw foodist. I'm going to make sure to do it for at least thirty days. I'd love to do it for all my life. But I can never forsee events, so I'm just making sure of thirty days for now. How I came about it is a little weird. I was actually doing articles on holistic health for my job. I'd heard about raw foodism before, but never read up on it; I had
