hi debbie, vita mix blenders seem to run from ~$350 on up. a big mac is probably $1. average salary, i believe is quite a bit less than $30,000. tough to find that info. i could pretty much just find household income, which seemed to be ~$43,000.

some day i'd love to have a famous vita mix!! they sound like they are amazing. i think they sell them at the state fair. if i can hold out until then, that might be the best way to go price wise. i did see one on craigslist. an old 3600 for $125 but it is out of my price range right now. i will try the toothbrush method. maybe if i boil it it might help too. thanks a bunch for

i read about carrot tops being way more nutritious then the carrot root in The live food factor book. some goes for turnips and beets. i would have never thought to eat them either but she had a lot of good info in that book. i love the library! the live food factor book is a great one to read if you haven't checked it out. i also just read green for life. that is what got me thinking about

i am new to the raw life and am trying to do the smoothies. i am using an old proctor-silex blender. i don't have the funds to purchase a new blender right now. i noticed the few times i have used the blender that it seemed to bog down, so i was making sure that i chopped things up very well before blending. but today i think i found the real problem. i believe that the blades are too

hi pampam. thank you for the welcome and the encouragement. i pretty much know it is going to be trial and error for awhile. today is leaning more toward the error side.... ...my blender went out today. bummer! i tried to use my hand blender/smoothie thing and it certainly didn't work as well as the blender did as far as getting things smooth. i am chewing my smoothie quite a bit today.

DAY ONE today i used this little contraption called the vidalia chopper and chopped up my apple, celery and kale before putting it in the blender. i don't have a fancy vita mix so my blender will have to do for now and by chopping things up pretty fine first should help keep it going for awhile. i like the smoothies. oh, i also added frozen berries. i realize they are not really raw (or th

hi, i am karrie and i am looking forward to this new adventure into the world of the raw. i have been doing a bunch of reading on the raw food lifestyle and the concept is so amazing yet so simple and very true. people ate before fire, ovens, deep-fat fryers and microwaves. i have mentioned the idea to a few other people and i always get a weird reaction. like i have made the leap
