Today's a MUCH better day symptom wise and I'm so happy. I've still got some back pain, and a small ache in my abdomen, but it's nothing I can't work through. It's also a much better day raw wise, except that my husband has talked me into going to a Chinese restaurant for dinner tonight. It's his favorite and since he's been out of town and he's not eating raw I decided to oblige him, but I pl

Okay, so today was my first attempt at raw - 2nd round. All in all it went okay I guess, but I think I'll do better tomorrow. I did have a couple of things I know I shouldn't have, but I'm still working on it so don't be too hard on me. My IC symptoms were off and on all day, but that's nothing new so we'll see how they do as I get better at this. I did have a stresser though that's not goi

I accidentally posted this in the meeting place last night. OOPS! So I'm reposting it here this morning and starting fresh. Here we go.......... This is my second attempt at going raw and I'm planning on it being my last. I was doing really well until I was sidelined with IC and my migraines became even more intense than usual. Now I'm finally getting some treatment from a doctor who see

This is my second attempt at going raw and I'm planning on it being my last. I was doing really well until I was sidelined with IC and my migraines became even more intense than usual. Now I'm finally getting some treatment from a doctor who seems to know what's wrong with me (after many years of suffering) and is very open to me eating raw. Of course right now my diet is limited until I c

You know - it is synthetic. I wasn't aware of that and I'll definitely talk to my doctor about changing to something different.

I've honestly thought about that. Like I said I'm still new to the diagnosis so I'm still trying to figure everything out. The only thing is that I've had these flareups long before I started the HRT, I just didn't know what they were then. Although, if I think about it I've had crazy hormone issues all my life so that could definitely be something, but it seems this is the most stable my horm

Actually I have low estrogen problems since I had a hysterectomy several years ago. I'm taking HRT at the moment, but desperatly want to be able to get off of it. Brian, thanks for the recommendations. Some of these I know I can't have, some I'll have to try out. I'm not compalaining, but I don't live in a very "produce variety abundant" area (Central Louisiana). I've found a few

I do know the problem with bananas is the potassium level. Foods with a high potassium level cause problems for me. As for the forbidden fruits I've been told it is because of their acidity, but I don't know alot about their content. Even though I've had IC for a long time, my symptoms were off and on. I was only doing the raw foods for a few months before it hit me like a ton of bricks and I

I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to have someone who understands where I'm coming from. Now that I know there are other IC sufferers who eat raw, I know this is something I can concur and get back to the life I want! Thank you! I've heard of the 80-10-10 method but have never tried it. Apparently what I'm going to have to do is just tough it out with a bland diet until things calm do

Some of these things can be added back in once I get my flares under control, but until then I'm extremely limited. After that it's trial and error to determine which foods are the culprit. I do know for a fact that tomatoes affect me almost immediately. Oh, how I'm going to miss my home grown tomatoes this year. I've only been diagnosed since the end of January and I've been having a terri

I've been away from the raw food lifestyle for several months dealing with some health issues. Specifically interstitial cystitis. for those that don't konw, this is a chronic pain condition that affects the bladder and the food I eat affects it greatly. I've been feeling horrible and want to get back to the raw food lifestyle but don't think this is something I'll be able to do. There are so

Okay, so the holiday didn't go so great for me raw food wise, but I didn't pig out and I made sure I ate at least 1 raw meal a day so overall not too bad. Since the holiday though I've been strictly raw, when I'm able to eat that is. I am struggling right now getting any food into my body b/c I've had to change my migraine preventive medication once again and I just don't have an appetite. I

Oh, I definitely understand what you're talking about as far as the husband, family and holidays go. My holiday week wasn't too great raw food wise, but I definitely didn't pig out so I'm holding steady. I'll write more later and catch this thing up with what I've been going through soon.

Okay, so those slip ups last week are starting to come back to haunt me. My weight is starting to creep up again. Not much, just a couple pounds. Oh well - I knew that would happen. Time to just smile and move on I started buying those little personal sized watermelons from Krogers and boy are they yummy I can eat a whole watermelon in 1 sitting. Too bad they're $4 a piece. I know the

Okay, so last week wasn't the best week for me but I'm picking myself up, dusting myself off and pushing forward. Even though I've had some slips this past week I'm down a total of 6 lbs - WHOOPEE!! As for food I'm finding that I'm craving only fruits. The idea of vegetables just doesn't appeal to me at all. With that being said I think I'm going to just go with that for a while. Sadly w

Okay, so I stepped on the scale last night for the first time in almost a month. I'm happy, but slightly disappointed to report a 3 lb loss. I know it isn't much (that's the disappointing part) but for a person who hasn't lost weight, only gained in the last year no matter how hard I tried, 3 lbs is a huge step (that's the happy part). This loss comes at the same time I'm seeing other change

Thanks for the pep talk Elakti! I really needed that today. It really helps to know that I'm not alone and that others are going through the same struggles as I am. I've gotten so much inspiration from people on this board. I definitely couldn't do this without you guys because I've got noone in my "real" life that is going through the same struggles and understands. Everyone ar

Sometimes these can be caused by a virus. I've had it a couple times, but not for years. Sometimes they just have to run their course. Take it easy, eat or drink something soothing and be sure not to eat anything too acidic (it burns and irritates them) and that's about all we can do sometimes.

I'm back home today and my juicer came in while I was gone. I'm so excited and I can't wait to use it tonight. I wanted to use it this morning but the late drive in had me dragging butt. Another thing I've noticed about my 1 cooked meal, especially while in New Orleans, is that my daily headaches don't usually hit until I eat that cooked meal. Sometimes it's a terrible migraine (like Tuesda

I'm so proud of myself! I'm finally starting to feel the effects of my raw eating. What's odd is I never thought I'd be so happy about my bowel movements. The thing is I suffer horribly from IBS with constipation. I very rarely go to the bathroom and when I do it's extremely painful. Of course it's taken about a month for me to feel better but hey - it's worth it. I finally feel like my

Just to throw this out there - IUD's do increase your risk of having a future tubal pregnancy. I had an IUD after my second child and had it removed after a year because my body just wasn't happy with it - horrible cramps, excessive bleeding, etc. I did get pregnant again - it wasn't planned and it was a tubal pregnancy. The tubal pregnancy caused me to have several surgeries ending wi

Oh, that would be nice to pass along wouldn't it. Sorry! The juicer I ordered is the Sharper Image 700W stainless steel Super Juicer. It looked really good in the catalog and I hope it works really good when it comes in. My husband actually purchased it for me as a gift. I mentioned to him that I'd gone to Wal-Mart and intended to pick up a juicer there pretty cheap, but I was in a rush

I finally ordered my juicer. It's supposed to be here in about a week and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to using it. I've never juiced before and don't have any recipes or even know what greens and fruits I can combine. What are some of your favorite juices you would suggest to get a newbie on the right track? Tobie

Okay, so I said I had changed my ways, but I didn't and I'm definitely paying for it. I've been completely miserable the last several days and the head pain is back with a vengeance. I don't know why the miserable weekend wasn't enough to change me. I thought for sure it had, but I gave in to peer pressure and ate with my friends yesterday. Then, afterward I felt so bad they took one lo

Oh yeah, and my face is starting to breakout again. Bummer It had finally started to clear. I look like I'm 13 again and not in a good way. In fact it's even worse because I never had bad skin as an adolescent.
