Thanks, Curator. Yes, I am arguing a very simple argument - while I agree that non-aggressiveness is a virtue (I was born and raised an Orthodox Christian), I don't think that this principle can be enforced for everything we do every day, diet related or not. So, for instance, if I spare a mosquito, it is going to follow me home and bite me ten more times. We are not Gods, we are humans, jus

Ariel55, I accept the explanation about chimps, but I have watched a documentary where I believe there was something like a "war" between two tribes, and a monkey was eaten as a result of that. I still don't think the reason they eat flesh is the nutrition, but to scare others (who will find bones and traces of their eaten relatives) from using the "orchard". Either way, o

Tamukha, if someone here convinces me that termites are good for me, I will eat them. omega-3 - I agree. People who eat meat are nervous and therefore overly aggressive. But, raw vegans are still very competitive, and you need to be aggressive to do that. If it weren't like that, I would not be a raw vegan. Aggressiveness is a normal component of human character. We can work around it, learn

We are made to eat fruit and veggies. Possibly, we can also eat insects. In special circumstances, we can survive eating animal based food too (milk, eggs, meat). But, eating just fruit and veggies does not make us better than meat eaters of this planet. I do not eat raw fruit and vegetable because "killing is wrong", but because I was made for it. Just today I killed (I hope) ten m

Lying in the Sun at noon is not a normal behavior. Even working at noon is also not normal. During the summer, people should use early morning hours and late afternoon hours to do the necessary work. Same is for swimming, playing or anything else. My grandparents were farmers, they would get up at 3am in the spring and summer, just to be able to do everything on time.

So, if you block the sun, how do you get vitamin D? And why be in the Sun if you need to block it? Stay inside, or in the shade, would be more logical, wouldn't it? By the way, how do you block the radiation from your TV, cell phone, computer, other people cell phones? You do not? But you are exposed 24/7, with a lot of damage to your tissue... I guess people chose what they want to protect th

pborst, "deep down" I love the Sun. No sunscreen for me. In my old country they even have a saying, which rhymes: "Ko se Sunca krije, bolje da ga nije", which means "If you hide from the Sun, you shouldn't exist". I will take my chances. I think that sunscreens cause more cancer than the Sun. Just like chemo causes more death than cancer. Again, this is my cho

I wrote something at this topic, was that removed? I just said that I love the Sun, and I will never use any sunscreens, I can't believe that it was removed because I said that? Or maybe I did not click on "Post Message".. Anyway, I have been burnt by the Sun many times as a boy and a teenager and I don't mind being burnt again. I am much less scared from the Sun than any lotions the

I lost track of this topic, somehow. Prana, that is a great link! I wish this was happening everywhere! Coincidently, today I just told my wife about the new law in San Francisco which does not allow use of soda vending machines in public places in SF. It seems that a lot of good things are happening there. This makes me want to move there, really.

I have a problem of slow growing hair and losing body hair. My beard grows less than half the speed it used to. After reading several topics on this forum, my conclusion is - dark greens are to blame! In troubleshooting computer problems, we first ask: "what changed?". Well, I did switch to raw food a couple of months before I began having thyroid problems (never checked my blood, t

If someone works on a farm and walks 10 miles a day to look for food - also takes care of the house, tools etc. - that person has to have a little more calories intake. Again, you can only go low on calories if you don't spend too much calories a day. Not only a sports person, but anyone who works a lot during the day needs calories. I don't see how you can work if you don't eat. If you are a

Wheatgrass Yogi, I absolutely agree. Christian Orthodox monks also fast more than half of the year (no meat, dairy, eggs, no oil often, and often water only). So, they may be interested in CR style of living. Even though I respect people who devote their life to spiritual, soul living, I don't see myself going that way. That is the road for the chosen few, I think.

Wheatgrass Yogi, I don't understand why are you so discouraged. We are all open for new ideas, and sharing your views is, I feel, welcome here. I am probably not going to switch to CR diet, but I may learn something from you that I could incorporate into my diet. People have different goals, different bodies, and they like different things. Thanks for the suggestions, anyway.

The book by Doug Graham, 8-1-1 diet, is one of the best books human kind produced. That is my humble opinion But, every person who is on any kind of raw vegan is doing the good thing also, and I have absolutely no reason to be against their views. For me, the main organ I care about is - my brain. It needs sugar. I feel great when I eat fruit. It is as simple as that. When I eat 3-4 lb of red gl

Speaking of supplements - where do you get them? I want to get a B12 and iodine supplement. I was thinking about getting it from naturalnews.com, but I got confused with the owners arrogance with the organicjar.com person - it seems that naturalnews is strictly profit oriented and not so user friendly. Do you trust them? Who do you trust for your supplements? Thanks much for any tips.

Prana, if I remember well, you don't eat salt, right? I just started to eat salt lately, and I gained 4 lb in no time. It must be all that water that stays in the body in order to process the salt...

This article is just a way to help people on SAD: the "health food" people are actually crazy, and nobody should take them seriously. Don't pay attention to them, they are seriously disturbed. The industry does not really care if a small minority of people actually eats healthy, just as long as it is not a serious trend. So, they will leave us alone if we leave the "sheeply"

Coco, here is how you can distill your water: I guess I see good arguments on both sides. I agree that sometimes we are dehydrated and we are not aware of it. I have tried to drink water when I don't feel thirsty, and quite often, to my surprise, I found out that I can easily drink a glass or two, and it felt good. But I also sometimes simply cannot drink more than a sip of water without an

I have always been a sweet guy...meaning I preferred cakes, sweet drinks (coffee with milk, tea with honey etc.), and, fortunately, I always liked fruit also. So, if you don't have a lot of money, focus on fruit, I would say (and I am the farthest you can get from and kind of nutritionist). Fruit was a replacement for bad eating habits, so I let myself eat fruit as much as I want - which is not g
