601. push-ups
I can run 2 miles now (steady improvement, I could not run more than 34 hundred yards without rest just a couple of months ago), but I can only do 7 push-ups hehe I am planning to get to a hundred push-ups by the end of the year. How? I will simply do them every day, not pushing to much (no pushing with push-ups). Also, I hope to be able to run around 5-10 miles, with some sprinting. But, I w

"or fat ones, who are still shedding lbs from a previous faulty lifestyle" - do you know me from somewhere ? I lost around 30lb so far (from 230 to 200 lb), but now it goes slower - I have to work for every pound. I should get to 180 (6.0'), and I think it will take a few months, but I am not in a hurry, as I feel good. I will not do powerlifting, I hate weights. I like swimming, ru

I agree with everyone bananas at the end of yellow phase taste fine, and they also do with brown spots, and sometimes even completely brown. I think if they are at the room temperature, the "window of opportunity" is 2-3 days (that is how long they are edible).

At this time, I think they are focused at people selling the food - organic growers, farmers of all kind. I read the proposal and it seems to be aimed at controlling food traffic. If this works, probably the next step, serveral years down the line, will be easier as most of the farmers will be gone, and it would be easy to forbid any kind of growing as there will be just a small number of individ

I find it very, very hard to convince someone if they are not interested. Pushing or not, nothing works. Also, they have a resistance towards my diet, and they think that what I am doing is crazy and that I should eat "real food", "snap out of it" etc. If this is the case with someone you live with it can be a very serious problem. This can only be resolved if there is a mutua

This is not a surprise. Just look at the former Warsaw pact, individuals were forbidden to own land. I saw their life, it was the most miserable life you can imagine. Yet, people survived. So, if I live in a remote location, on a mountain, will they send inspectors to burn my orchards there? Let's hope that it will not happen, and if it does, we will have to deal with it then.

Banana who, thanks for the info. I have to hurry and plant heirloom tomatoes (I bought some seeds, but I haven't planted them yet, the weather was bad, and I was a bit lazy). I will plant them now, even if it is a little late. The way it is going, soon nothing in the stores will have any value. Even the "organic" label does not guaranty anything - one needs to know the grower. It is s

Before I forget (this happened a couple of weeks ago), let me just add this as and epilogue to my story. A very nice lady, retiring in a few months, had noticed the change on me, but was not sure exactly how I lost weight. When she had asked me about it before, I would just say something like: "Oh, I just replace meals with smoothies", and the reason for that is that I did not want to b

Lamar is an honest man, I give him that I am a little surprised that he does not look for more expensive sweets, but goes for average ones, from the store. It speaks a lot about players being just ordinary people who happened to be professional athletes. Also, Steve is a few years older, Lamar still has some time to catch up with Steve's diet When I was a teenager, I played basketball for a

Well, among Orthodox Christians, this type of life is not that rare. Quite a few of well known Christians whose teachings and writings are a part of Orthodox tradition lived this way. Some of the remote monasteries were built using a natural cave as a foundation. We cannot judge anyone. I think he just sensed that this is the right way to live, and did not contemplate too much about it. If you

loeve, I think that he mentioned the steak as a part of his converstation with the nutricionist. I am not sure if he is still eating steaks, and he is not talking about it. I find that it is not always popular to speak publicly about how and what you eat, as people (and the food industry) could consider you a freak, or unpromotable. It is all business, I guess.

I feel so stupid. Years ago, I read somewhere, that "there is practically nothing in cucumbers" meaning no nutrition at all, and we like them just for their taste. For years I took this as a truth, and was not too keen on having a cucumber salad.

Steve Nash. Last winter I was talking with a friend about what I needed to do to stay healthy out on the court. (At 35 it’s not getting any easier.) When the topic of nutrition came up, he urged me to go see his naturopath, Dr. Suneil Jain, here in Arizona. Now, I have tons of people looking after my well-being — coaches, doctors, trainers, my wife — so I’m always skeptical about

coco, I envy you - with my current expenses, it will be very hard for me to get all the books I want. But, I will try. You gave me an idea to visit again some bookstores where they sell books for 1$ etc. I used to be very good with that, but now I am so far, that it makes it not so cheap (I have to drive an hour to get to downtown Chicago or some suburbs with good bookstores). If a book is no

I am by no means an expert, and I hope people with much more experience will reply and help you. I know that alcohol has a lot of calories, but you also have to be aware that, depending on what typo and how much of raw food you are eating, you can gain wait, just like with any other diet. I am sure that experience people will ask you what exactly you eat to be able to give you advice. Switching

Usually, incident like this is used to require pasteurization in the future. Juicekatz, I agree with you, we should all do just like you do - grow our food and know the wild edibles. That should be a part of elementary eduction, if you ask me.

la_veronique, thanks for your kind words. I try to stay realistic, and to have small, achievable goals. I am by no means a model for anyone, as I have a long way to go, but I hope that this "instant reward" that I received from raw food could be a little bit inspirational to other people as well. The spiritual part of the raw foods journey is really unbelievable, and hard for me to desc

I think that the high doses of sugar are natural too us. We should all eat a lot of fruit. Chocolate is just a replacement for that. I eat a lot of grapes, and I can feel the same effect as when eating chocolate. THe sugar rush is great, I think clearly, I can work at the computer with more focus. So, sugar is our natural food, that is one of the reasons why chocolate is so popular, I think.

Personally, I truly hate genetically modified anything. If you are asking me, it should be illegal on planet Earth. It is damaging everything, our health, environment, and it insults my intelligence to think that someone even dares to attempt something like that. But, my word is not important (please don't tell me to write to politicians), and I don't like fighting AGAINST, I prefer trying to d

loeve, it is truly refreshing to read such a constructive thinking as yours. You make me feel that there is hope in the future. No matter how little influence it has compared to conventional farming at the moment, organic farming is the only way of the future, I am convinced.

coco, thanks a lot! I am very firm in my decision, and I agree with you that I need more exercise to add some muscle to my body. As far as my company, like any other company, they just protect themselves. Business is business. I am grateful to have a fitness center which I can occasionally use (some people use it every day). The bureaucratic rules at the fitness club are far from perfect, bu

I didn't think it was a "conspiracy", but I think that a difference in the effect of the inflation cannot be explained only by the cost of the fuel. The fuel did not go up that much. There may be other factors, and also maybe government(s) are not doing enough to protect the fresh produce industry. Fruit and veggies are considered a "side meal" and not a strategic resource lik
