My point is: why are the prices of fruit and vegetables jumping so much more than those of meat and dairy?

loeve, I totally agree with you. I like honey, but it actually has an affect in our blood similar to sugar, so it should be taken in moderation if at all. So, leaving bees alone may be the best way to go, or just help them survive. We should not steel hone from them if we are affecting their life - they are too valuable for the nature and for us. I have learned how to eat witout honey, but am

While they are talking about "food" prices, it is obvious that fruit and veggies are the ones being mostly affected. I don't like to bring the bad news, but that is the reality. We all need to prepare somehow, I guess. On the good side, if one does not spend money on bread, milk and meat, even higher prices of fruit and vegetable should be bearable. Some of the startling food p

yes...fruit is less fulfilling...but, if you eat a lot, than it is fine I could live on fruit, but they are expensive, especially berries. The best way, of course - grow your own!

So, here are some updates: I still haven't had a chance to show those colleagues that I can now legally enter the fitness center...whenever I get in, nobody is watching ...but it is still a great feeling to swipe the card, see the light go green and walk in without frustration Remember, I have been sneaking in for at least 2-3 years! Many times I had to explain to others, and I had to invent

I have been following this for years: Bees are dramatically disappearing all over the world. In China, in Sichuan province, people have been manually pollinating the pear orchards since 1980, after bees were killed by pesticides. Some experts say that this can happen all over the world: Just when I have figured out how I want to lead my life, it may be impossible in the near future to e

Mostly working from home now (which is good, but not as good as it may seem, cause you will never convince your family to treat you differently because you are working. Never). I will try to find a local "wwoof" option, thanks for the tip.

banana who - I wish sesame & honey was my idea, but it is a little older, about 3000 years approximately Egypt and Rome have notes about it, here it comes from Wikipedia: "Open sesame," the famous phrase from the Arabian Nights, reflects the distinguishing feature of the sesame seed pod, which bursts open when it reaches maturity. ...and this one says it all: "Women of a

Lately, I cheat with a little honey I grind sesame seed and add honey to it. It is great But, I try to avoid honey, as those carbohydrates are very similar to sugar, they say. I also added dandelions (flowers, simplest to pick) - I just eat them of the ground (please don't laugh) )) Bananas are my base, but my number one fruit is grapes. I come from a grape valley, and probably my body i

It looks unnatural too me, so I wanted to check - the results cannot be the same as when planting normal way, I think. But, for people in the appartments, this or some similar solution may work? I am sure it would be easy to make something like this rather than buy it.

I have read somewhere (on Yahoo, a couple of days ago, I think) that greens are now in the group of "dangerous" food, along with eggs, tuna and other potentially "risky" foods, and that there is a law already pending to have some measures similar to almonds implemented, so that consumers are "protected". I will search and try to find the article and post the link. I

As far as I know, absolutely the best source of Vitamin D is = sunlight. We should all be exposed to the sunlight at least an hour or two a day. That does not mean, of course, to stay outside at noon at 100F or 40C, it means walking in the morning, doing the garden etc. This is the best Vitamin D one can get.

I would really like to add sea veggies but my budget cannot be stretched by buying expensive bottles or any other form. I am not sure if there is any way to buy them in bulk, grow them, collect them etc. I will search...but I think the best way is to move closer to the sea.

Green smoothies are the basis of my diet (based on carrots and all fresh greens I can get locally, with bananas for taste and avocados). I also eat all kinds of fruit and walnuts, hazelnuts and sesame seed. That's it. I am experimenting a little every day with different greens, but no seaweed yet.

I have spent a few years by the see (travel rep) and locals told me this: "You can eat everything from the sea". Now I live in Indiana, hardly any sea here , but I would experiment if I lived at the coast somewhere. Pborst, you must be somewhere by the sea?

Agree. I hate shaving, and I feel great...so, I think maybe simply I eat less, my beard grows less. Maybe that is the reason? Or, maybe my body is still getting used to the change, working hard on dissolving all that fat, has no time to grow beard right now? My beard grows just the same as before, only it grows slowly. To be continued

My wife keeps on asking me why my beard is growing slower than usually. Two days beard now looks like a one day beard. I switched to raw food two and half months ago. Any ideas?

Prana, I can see how that could really work (removing salt from the diet) , but in my case, I drank a lot of coffee also, and ate a lot of bread (our traditional food), so, I was probably 50 pounds overweight at one moment. Also, due to hectic schedule, my sleeping schedule was bad, and I drove about 70 miles a day (to a from work). I am sure if I had a doctor check up, he would have asked me to

Thanks for the responses and for the welcoming. Yes, I agree - it would be nice to let me use the facility at my own risk or something - which is not an option. They wanted me to "see a doctor" and get his approval - and doctors would want me to be on some medication, which I simply do not want. So, I chose this path, and it worked for me. The biggest fun when I go to work now is t

And to answer your question directly: It is hard to be spiritual while on gluten, caffeine, animal products and other heavy food. I feel lighter now, my thoughts are clearer, and I don't get nervous easily. It is easier to focus on spiritual now. But, I am at early stages, still learning, so cannot speak much.

I don't know how popular this is going to be, but I am a Christian. My church, Christian "Orthodox" (I don' think that is the right name) follows old traditions from the early days of Christianity. The fasting which is required for all church members allows no meat, dairy or eggs, only non-animal food is approved. Big fasts are three times a year (40 days each time) and at least two day

656. Reward
This is my little story about a rewarding experience with raw food. I work for a big company, and we have a fitness center within our headquarter. It is free for all employees, but one has to pass a physical exam in order to have his pass enabled for the gym. If you are not a member, you cannot get in, obviously. I have played sports all my life, and was looking forward to using the fitness c

Thanks for your kind welcome, Some of that approach I have learned from this man (peter proctor), after watching one of the best documentaries I have seen in my life: # This is a sad, beautiful documentary about farming in India. Whoever has the time to watch it, you will not regret if you watch the whole thing - it is one of the strongest messages ever, yet said in a calm, wise way. This

Well, I have learned so much from all raw food people on the internet, I am very, very grateful. I would like just to share some thoughts, as this is obviously not just "a diet", but much, much more. I have read in one of the books about raw food that we should always treat other people, who eat "traditional" food with nothing but love. I liked that very much. This is v

Well, this is a very interesting topic. My raw food model are - monkeys! They eat termites...should we eat termites or some other insects? How about worms in fruit...if we ate them, would that improve the B12 balance?

Thanks a lot, these are very good answers. I eat more fruits than greens (I try to keep the balance, but fruit is so accessible...), and I eat nuts - but I will keep in mind those percentages. So, if you want to gain weight (what a surprise) eat more fat? I should have thought of that At this point, I still need to lose more weight (maybe 30lb), in order to get at the healthy level. I will
