Well: I can tell you that I've eaten many different radish greens....and found them very sustaining....and most sweet when younger....with no ill effects. My research indicates they are fine. -David Z. Mason

Wheatgrass Yogi and the the others are correct. On the flip side...anything that is BETTER than what a person is currently eating is a good thing - yes? It's all about the process really - and not about any one goal. A non-heat method of dehydrating: Cut your food thin and place between two PAPER air filters. Bungee to a box fan and run on high for 48 hours. Instant dried tomatoes! Heh..h

A simple guide to food combining is to eat faster digesting items first. In my experience, very watery....non-fibrous...non-starchy fruits like melon will leave the stomach in 30-60 minutes. Starchy/fibrous fruits like banana can be up to 60 minutes. Fibrous vegetables can be from 60 minutes to 2 hours. Nuts can be from 2-4 hours. So: You'll want to eat the fast digesting stuff first - as a g

Right. Don't concentrate on depriving yourself....but rather STUFF yourself with the fruits & vegetables you find most appealing. Do this more and more often...and the food itself will be your medicine. Health, in my opinion, is granted much less from the healthy foods....and more so from what you are NOT eating. Heh..heh. -David Z. Mason

CD: I agree with the above posts. The food you are eating sounds fine. And don't sweat the cooked/processed foods you are eating...just try to find fruits/veggies that you DO like....and keep finding ways to up the percentage. Keep trying to switch out the processed items for less processed items....and you'll do well. The food can be your medicine...but it might take time. Also remember that

A high protein, moderate raw fat....high carb diet....lifting weights....and eating 1-2 meals per day should maintain/increase your weight profile. Items like nuts and sprouts...along with your leafy greens should do well. -David Z. Mason

I personally believe this.....that cancer is sort of the last ditch effort of the body to encapsulate toxic substances. I forget the exact quote...but it says something like 90% of health is not what you are eating...but rather your ability at elimination. -David Z. Mason

My experience: Fruit sugars are not the same as refined sugars....and digest rather easily. Some folks have problems with pre-existing conditions....and would be better off sticking to greens and sprouts for the bulk of their initial diet. In any event, some folks also do well with good food combining....and making sure that they are not mixing foods (fruits) with other foods in such as way t

HK: There have been several posts on this recently...including this one: -Garlic IS recommended by most mainstream nutritionists...that I am aware of. It is often not recommended by some spiritual groups that say it is stimulatory and noxious. I would say that for a transitioning person, it would probably be fine. But you'll have to do some tests yourself. Just my opinion - which I hope i

Opinion: -Your % is always just going to be a rough number....unless you are ONLY eat live plants...you know? In any event, you COULD use calories as your guide. That's not too hard. Or you could say how many all-raw meals you are eating per day: 1 meal would be 33% raw.....2 meals 66%....and 3 meals 99% or 100%. You know? -David Z. Mason

Of course...if your not against buying the stuff....you could always just spray some DEET on just your clothes. This would provide some measure of protection while limiting exposure to the stuff on your skin. Just some suggestions. -David Z. Mason

I've done quite a bit of research into this and there really are no herbal-type remedies or repellents that work well. Your best bet (in my experience) is just to suit up in all over heavier cotton clothes....and gloves....along with a hat and net in really stiff areas. This is the only really effective (and simple) method other than DEET. -David Z. Mason

Rawne: If you want objective information, here's the wiki: -It seems that in recent studies, garlic's ability to reduce cholesterol has been shot down. Garlic can still be a powerful antibotic and parasite cleanser. Here's another wiki on Allistatin: There are those who say garlic is disruptive to the body or brainwave function...like this guy: Here's another guy that doe

Most scientific evidence would point to garlic being a healthy food. In any event, food is like a 'matrix'. If the person thinks it is healthy...then the placebo effect can be strong. Each individual needs to test their own desires and what is right for them. In any event, I agree with the above. My experience is that garlic is a strong medicinal food...but not a strong staple. They say that

Rawne: I understand that you are probably upset. My opinion is that people that love each other....support each other....even when their opinions or lifestyle make them difficult or impossible to live with or even spend a lot of time with. So: I DO understand your frustration, but all you can/should do is tell your friend what YOU are going to do...and not try to put limits on what your friend is

Start by not limiting yourself....and trying a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables....and not worry about any particular rules. Don't concentrate on NOT eating poor stuff...just concentrate on eating the fresh, raw produce that you do LOVE. The food CAN be your medicine! When you have eating well for a week or two....see how thinking about eating crap makes you feel. -David Z. Mason

One suggestion to reduce bacterial/mold growth is coat your items in lemon juice before dehydrating. High acid items create a difficult environment for little critters. -David Z. Mason

You DO have to find a 'base' way to eat that is 100% comfortable for you....and stretch from THERE. Try eating your standard vegan way for a while....then plan 3 different 'all raw' type of days in advance. Try each one....just a day at a time...and see how you feel the next day. If you are looking forward to that meal...and feel energetic...then you are on the right path. As to the underweig

In my experience, if you don't make YOUR diet an issue...and support others and their dietary choices.....you should have few problems. People that have problems on the social level when adjusting to eating raw....often are creating problems for themselves...by putting their diet in people's faces.......even if they mean well...I find it better to not mention my diet...especially in groups...but

There is no conflicting information....only various tools for whichever stage you are at. When you find what is right for YOU...there will be no conflict...only giving. There are many long-term raw food folks like myself.....and many...like myself that have eaten only fruit for many years...with no ill effects or cancer. In any event, I don't recommend any extreme eating change...especially for a

An artificial color. Probably this one: It's not supposed to penetrate to the fruit....but who knows? Cost effective? I suppose so...anything to get the fruit sold commercially. Is nothing safe? I've done both: lots of avocados 6-12 small ones per day....or very little/none. I think people's system varies, but I feel the expense and fat warrant that these not be a primary and daily source of calories....but that a small amount should be fine. -David Z. Mason

Great story. Very positive. I feel I've been able to touch at least a few folks...and provide a good example to some. So that's good! No big hail mary conversions however....but I don't really expect that. I think food is much more of an 'energetic' expression of where we are....and not always as amenable to major changes as folks would like to think. Keep it up! A quiet apple eater (or smoot
