Have noticed that some of you use Miso. Isn't it made from Soybeans? and if so, aren't Soybeans bad for us?

Wow! That is alot of bananas! Not sure I could withstand that many at once as it used to be that I could not eat them at all as they would trigger a migraine. Now, since going raw, I am able to eat 1 and am ok. Guess I could try to eat 2 and see what happens. Have had an interesting symptom lately with avocados. I ate one by itself last night and then again (by itself) today. Both times I felt

Post up everything that you ate yesterday. Would be fun and interesting for those of us who are new or fairly new. Thanks you guys! Right now, a typical day for me, foodwise, looks something like this: 4-5 Medium Oranges for breakfast 2 Apples (1 hr later) 12-16 oz. Fresh Juice (Carrots, spinach or chard, italian parsley, celery, lemon, green onion) Huge Salad (usually just greens and

HH, Yes I do and will continue to hangout with folks who like the Superbowl because my dh and I do too. Your Cacao Balls idea is a good one. I know that it is still not the very very best, but certainly much better than the choc cake. Thanks for the idea. So, Panchito, are you saying that you put approx 1 whole bunch of bananas in one smoothie with the dates and mango/orange added to it? Do yo

Michele, I'll be curious to hear what you decide to do or...not do. I will respectfully disagree with your take. You said, "Truthfully, I think the idea of eating is overrated and social events are completely surrounded by eating and food." I think that gathering around food can potentially be a beautiful thing. It is the BAD food that MOST people surround themselves with

True. I probably am not getting quite enough calories. I feel like I'd be eating almost every hour of every day if I were to incorporate all that I should be getting. Need to learn about some higher calorie foods, I guess. Swimmer, thanks for your encouragement. I guess I am feeling some guilty, but mostly frustrated with myself. I will remember the stuffing myself before going somewhere where

So, I have been raw for almost 1 month now. In the past week, I have kept on with eating my regular raw, but added a few items. Went to a banquet where SAD food was being served so I decided to eat only the pre-dinner salad and leave it at that. 4 different waiters tried to give me a dinner plate. ha! Thought I was doing great. But then....chocolate cake. I totally caved. I have always had

Loved it! I've seen it twice now. Didn't realize until last week that my hubby hadn't seen it with me the first time so we watched it together last week. I was really really hoping that it would inspire him as he is still 100% SAD diet and extremely overweight. Though he really liked the film, he has voiced nothing in the way of interest in doing this for himself. I worry alot as his

LF - Ya, I've wondered about how it would be to get into sprouting or now microgreening heavily. I imagine every room in my house overtaken. ha! Interesting, that there is, in fact, a differentiation made between sprouts and microgreens. Writer says, "Davison and Lester say microgreens could easily be confused with sprouts, but they're not the same thing. Sprouts are seeds germinated

Went to Dr. today. He cut one of my two anti-depressants (Welbutrin XL) in half. I am excited and a bit scared too. Also found that my thyroid is a bit wacky, so upped my dosage of Armour from 90mg to 120mg. Here are my thyroid panel results if anyone might be interested. Perhaps you understand a bit better than I. Free T3 was 4.3 (Normal Range is 2.3 - 4.2 pg/mL) TSH was .04 (Norm

Banana, No prob. Actually I am not afraid of much as far as trying food goes. I have always been quite adventerous with food and willing try most anything...within reason, that is. When I was still eating SAD, my husband and I always found it very frustrating when we wanted to go out to eat with friends as noone, except one couple, appreciated food (especially different ethnic foods) like we

Yes I have looked at them on Amazon actually, however, because I am so new at learning here I thought that perhaps you all here might know things about some that might NOT be good because of materials it was made with, etc. so thought you guys would be a better resource for starters and then I would go and look at reviews. I am a review freak!

Thanks Prana! Banana - I will be trying it despite the smell. Just needed to know how to do so as I certainly don't want to eat it straight. My nose is usually a fairly good indicator of whether or not I will like something. I haven't asked anyone in Co-op about it, but that is a good idea. I guess I prefer you guys, here, over them since you are all raw. Not one member in my Co-op is. I as

Prana - Not understanding what he is saying here: "Etiology: This affection is seen as a sequel of pneumonia, typhoid fever, scarlet fever, mumps, and rheumatic fever. Septic poisoning of the gland is the cause." Is he saying that IF you have Acute Thyroiditis, you will have had each and every one of the above??? Not sure what he's saying. If you understand, perhaps you can help m

I have no idea which is best. Any feedback would be really appreciated. I am feeling the need to start saving $$ for a dehydrator as I am really missing crunchy things (not like celery or apples) like crackers, chips, etc. So, would like to make kale chips and learn how to make raw crackers etc. so that I can use them along with a raw dip. Thanks you guys!

Good gracious. I just looked up Arame as I like the idea of mild flavor, Paul, but it is $12.05 for 2.1 oz. from Azure Standard (who my Co-op buys from). Very pricey! Is it possible that it has more iodine or iodide per oz. than other sea veggies? For whatever reason, Azure lists all Nutrients except for the iodine. Silly. Anyhoo, might you know the answer to this question?? Tha

Hi Cindy, I am brand new to eating Raw also (just started a few weeks ago). I, too, have this question but just keep forgetting to ask. So, glad you asked it. Have you started eating raw yet or are you just gathering information at this point? You might get some good out of the thread I started a couple of days before I went raw. I forget the exact title of the thread, but it's something

Just thought I'd share with those of you who have been helping me along the way. I am going to my primary Dr. tomorrow for 2 reasons. First, to get my thyroid panel results. Also, I am (for the first time ever) going to ask him to reduce my dosage on one of my 2 anti-depressants (which I've been on for many many years). Am excited and a little scared. But, mostly excited. If I'm able to handl

Is it possible for Thyroid to be restored after years of meds? I was on Synthroid for years and now Armour Thyroid for the past 8-10 yrs. My age might have some bearing on the answer. Not sure. I am 46 yrs old, 44 of them on SAD. I JUST went raw a few weeks ago, so have a looonnng way to go for healing. Anyone know? Thanks.
