After being badgered about the threat to my health, I finally got a blood test to see if I have a deficiency in vitamin B12, which has to potential to cause serious harm. You can read about my test results here:

After listening to a 10-minute diatribe about the cruelty of genetics the other day, I decided to work up a little rebuttal. The world has developed a sick fatalism when it comes to genetics, even going so far to have young women remove their breasts for fear of cancer. When it comes to weight and disease, genes are of second-rate importance. I blamed by genes for causing me to be overwe

Hi. I recently read the book "Nonviolent Communication," by Marshall Rosenberg, and have done a few experiments putting his techniques to use. I'm really enjoying the results, and I've written a review of the book here: Just about anyone will likely find nonviolent communication useful in gaining new perspective in how we talk to each other, I think. Given how contentious dis

Hey guys. Around spring, a spate of rather ugly raw food arguments were springing up online. At the time, I decided to record a video on how to talk to raw foodists with other nutrition philosophies, and also a addressed talking to loved ones and leading by example. I didn't get around to posting it till the other day, but I think it can still be of some use. Hope you enjoy:

Hey. After I started telling people I've been running long distance in five fingers, they started asking me a lot of questions. I gave up answering the emails and set off the write an article last month. One became like five, but I finally finished. I've already been called a "faker" by a barefooter cause I'm not entirely barefoot and I aparently have not been doing it long

Hey guys. What you put into you body has a huge affect on your life, but how you deal with your mind can perhaps be even more of an issue. I've started a new section of my site devoted to the mental side of life. The introductory section is here: The first article in this section is on the importance of integrating inspiration into your every day life:

I completely overcame my colitis on a raw food diet, and immediately went to colitis forums to tell me the good news...and no one listened. They lamblasted me for saying that I was cured, assuring me that I might well have a relapse. They told me that a raw food diet was unhealthy, and they needed protein. I countered their arguements, and they still wouldn't listen. I even put up a page

At times, the clash between the the "raw gurus" - a term I dislike, btw - and between the followers of the raw gurus, can get quite heated. One says one thing. Another another thing. People get pissed. Forum members get banned. It goes on and on. I've recently come up with my litmus test for raw gurus - what I apply to them before I'll really listen to their message beyond a su

Hey guys. Hydration is hugely important for everyone. I wrote an article about your water needs here: The other article is on what containments are in our tap water and how distilling it can give you perfectly pure liquid, or as close to perfect as you can find: http://www.raw-food-health.net/DistillingWater.html"] With so much of our bodies being water, it makes sense to not drink

-Angie See the center stake that sticks up out of the top of the garden? I'll just drape a net between it and the edge of the garden. Deer and rabbits can't get to it. Birds, perhaps, but they're not usually interested in the type of vegetables I want to grow in there. If you were planning on berries, it might be harder.

I only took 8 hours to build it. The cost was only $6. Rocks are all over the place and free. If not, scavenge some bricks. If not, find an old concrete pipe. If not, be creative. You could always go with wood, if you want to make it straight. If you're questioning the skill it takes...I have no skill. I really have no building experience whatsoever. I just stacked up heavy rocks. If you don't

It's usually not long after someone steadies themselves on a raw food diet that they start to question society and the way we live our lives. Why? Don't know. Must be something in the food. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I've asked a lot of questions and done some thinking and research on my own. One of the conclusions I've come to is that man once had a golden age, and it's

I don't mind at all. In the article I conclude science hasn't done enough research for me to rule out B12 supplementation as unnecessary. I even quote a prominent raw foodist I respect who says he needs it. I'm always open to the idea that I may be wrong, and because of the looseness of the article, I've noted that if people feel the need they should go ahead. Yet I find the fact tha

It's constantly brought up like a monster lurking in the closet. What shall we ever do about B12? Can our diet be natural if we require supplementation, etc. I've been doing some research on the topic, and decided to write an article, which is here: I probably didn't manage to touch on everyone's concerns, but I'm willing to expand it if anyone has additional questions/suggestions.

I'm a huge fan of Ishmael. A raw foodist acquaintance of mine recently told me he dismissed the book because it emphasized societies that were hunter gatherers and not all vegetarian, but I'd make the point that Quinn's philosophy works just better with raw foodism. What can I say about this book? Depends on where you are in your thinking, it may change your world view forever. I had

I love trees. I'm a damn tree hugger, frankly. Besides the fact that planting a fruit tree will bring us healthy fruit, and besides the direct benefits they bring to the earth and agriculture like top soil production, in our cities and towns trees make a huge difference. They're so embedded in our minds that to be without them makes us a bit unhinged. I talk about this here:

I follow 80/10/10 and eat overt fats periodically, but keep my overall fat intake well below 10 percent. This is a fantastic raw guacamole recipe that's a hit with my raw and non raw friends alike. Most guac recipes are trashed with salt and spices, but this is delicious and natural. The video is here: The recipe is here: Enjoy.
