Dear Ela
I hope you can find a specialist you are happy to listen to. I am concerned about you and hope you get better soon.
A little bit on iodine which may be of interest to you (e.g. antagonists):

Ela, thyroid can be a serious and simultaneously delicate issue. What you are eating and what you might be missing can affect this, but there is no place for experimenting by non-experts. Can you get an advice from someone who is a raw vegan, and also well informed on the topic?
I recall that Don Bennett has been writing on this topic.
Also, Karin Dina perhaps might be a right choice -

Ela, I hope you get diagnosis.
I read that there could be many possible causes of hypertrophy of parotid glands, one of them being hypothyroidism (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3528147/), which in turn could be caused by iodine deficiency (http://www.diagnosisdiet.com/foods-and-hypothyroidism/). I am not suggesting that this is the case in your situation. Just something I read.

The apricot tree in my gardening is full of beautiful apricots. This is my opportunity to have some tree-ripen lovely fruit. These are the best apricots I have ever had in my life, and I am over 50! Tree-ripen fruit is so unbelievably nutritious and satisfying.
All the best in the New Year to you.

fresh, thank you. Indeed, I like to listen to Victor. He is a young scholarship-winning student with lots of interesting things to share. I've known him since sucks site, and am connected with him via facebook. Besides being clever and a geek, he is a great person, I respect him for his ethics.

RawPracticalist, thank you. Yes, home grown is the best. Yesterday I picked a bunch of tree-ripen apricots. It's amazing how filling they are. So much more nutritious than standard supermarket fruit.
I think some flexibility in the diet is necessary, and responding to body needs is paramount or one can run into problems. I am planning to make some videos where I will talk about the diet, and a

After years of silence I decided to record videos. My first ever talking head videos that is. Because I have had enough of being silent on the issues that are close to my heart. Fruitarianism is about nonviolence and I feel that this idea is not represented strongly enough in the raw vegan community.
A walk in my garden and why I pursue fruitarianism.

For fruitty education reasons, I should say that the one above was openned too early. The one below is ripe as it should be:
Also, here is the chocolate sapote banana ice cream:
I am inspired to invent some chocolate sapote recipes. Aww.

My first ever chocolate sapote. To answer your question, la_veronique, I say it tastes chocolatey, but it is not a taste like a block of chocolate. So chocolatey yes, but exactly like chocolate, no. I am going to try it next with some banana icecream and dates, which I think would be just perfect.
