It seems to me that the etiquette issue is not unique to raw vegan forums, but something to do with the on-line communication, which seems an entirely different animal than face-to-face communication. As examples, * people say things on-line they would be less likely to say in person, * people misinterpret or get offended by comments they would not if they could see/hear the person. On-line

I recall reading about the connection a number of times in various scientific papers and New Scientist magazine. I suggest PubMed database and a good keyword search. Also google search on New Scientist. I am positive you will find them there.

So, we are discussing whether we should be discussing politics and/or gossip. I can't help but add another question to the list. Should we be discussing whether we should be discussing politics and/or gossip? Just amuzing myself with the prospect of it.

Tai, since you watched the video, would you be so kind and share something from it that is other than BC's opinion? I have no time to watch it and am keen to know whether there is some evidence-supported notion that eating fruit (ie fruit specifically, not sugar, and not excess calories) can cause weight gain? Is this what he has said in some part of the video? And, did he give some evidence (re

Thanks SueZ. Here is an article I just found on the topic: The Truth about “Raw” Chocolate I have not digested all the information. Not much time here. It seems that in order to check whether some product is really raw, one has to do an awful amount of research. I read there that both cocoa and cocoa butter most likely has been heated above 200F and so technically isn't raw.

OK, when I go to the organic shop, I see cocoa beans labelled "raw cocoa beans" and so I refer to them as cocoa beans rather than chocolate. The products that I see labelled "raw chocolate" are the rectangular things, made of ground cocoa beans and other ingredients, and so I learned to use the word chocolate to refer to those. Is it possible to make your own raw chocolate

Yes, Living Food, it is easy for me to understand now too, but it wasn't at first when as a child I noticed people saying one thing and doing another. I was born with a mind that likes to see things in an order that makes sense, and so categorizing what I observed since childhood took some time. Thank you for sharing your interesting comments on the human history and in particular your positiv

Well, raw cocoa beans may be raw, but I am not so sure about various raw chocolate products. I guess one has to dig and do their own checking to find this out.

I think SueZ you have voiced some important concerns, which I think relate to questions, what does contribute to and what does suffocate the raw food movement. Personally, I see no place for politics here, and somehow cannot relate to the idea of politicizing veganism. At the same time, I think that ethics play a key role in veganism. Also, I think that the safety and de-bulshting needs to be dis

Is there such thing as a raw chocolate? I understand that all is heated in the process, even when labelled 'raw'. Also, some put forward concerns about the treatment of laborers, children in particular.

Tai, The way I eat passion fruit is, I cut it in half with a knife and spoon it out straight into my mouth. I eat whole flesh including seeds, like I eat strawberries or watermelon. I do not chew the seeds. I discovered that my favourite desert made of freshly picked berries from my garden in summer mixed with banana ice cream, becomes a total heaven when topped up with passion fruit. Total fr

I think that there are two parts of the equation that play role here. There are those with agendas, and there are the enablers without whom the agenda would not have spread. So although the level to which one can affect those with agendas may be limited (eg a psychopathic narcissist cannot be changed), a lot can be done to influence the behaviour of the crowds. Raising awareness, for example.

I thought I could have. Perhaps you could elaborate a little? <<those who have an agenda to tether the raw food to their other personal beliefs, which include science, religion, and facebook, are doing a HUGE amount of damage to the raw food movement and are dooming it to fail if such nonsense continues>> My thoughts are, everyone who is part of the raw movement, has some aims,

This is an interesting study SueZ. I think one could interpret is as, regardless of what you do, your chances of recovery are the same, so raw did not save Ruby. Or, one could interpret is as, those who recover do so because their immune systems is stronger for some reasons, so perhaps raw made Ruby's immune system stronger and helped her recover.
