Hi everyone! I love nut milk. Unfortunately the only nuts I can afford in Romania are walnuts. Not my favorite nut milk but...organic and raw at least. My quick question was: how long can I keep the milk refrigerated? I had it for 2 or 3 days and it tastes funny although my fridge is set on arctic temps. I put a bit of raw honey to sweeten and warmed it up slightly (a bit over room temperature

Guys, now stop it! I've just had breakfast and I liked it. I want it to stay there. Lots of interesting ideas. I do believe a fresh vegan mostly raw diet is the safest bet. Yet, for cancer I thi nk thee problem is more complicated than simply diet. Diet is probably one factor of the equation. Pollution is another robably and not one to neglect. You mention all these populations with amazing lo

Sneak in veggies? Haha..it reminds me of my mom's attempts to sneak in garlic during winter (they say it's good against colds...and friends). Now that's a weird idea..sneaking garlic! Of course it never worked for the second bite. Now I love garlic but my hubby doesn't love it afterwards...so I only have it rarely. I can hear you folks with older kids...school, commercials, friends...raw will

I thought I would make this an ongoing thread as I know many of you have children (of all ages) and many of you influenced your offsprings on the path to dietary changes. It would maybe be interesting and useful for all of us parents to see what other parents use as strategies to improve their kids' health. I'll start this myself: I have a one year and a month old daughter and she is about 90

Hello evrybody! I've been absent around here for a while because I've been battling illnesss: thyroid desease. I had a large cyst , which the doctor advised to remove surgically. I hate the thought of surgery but I was also afraid to let it grow larger. At the same time hunger pangs were more forceful and raw food pricy and scarce (I live in Romania and there's little variety of raw food). I s

The combination of fasting and coffee withdrowal is the worst. I've done it and my fast went to shambles and my coffee went in. Try it separately: first stop the coffee (with the ideas above) and only then, when you have no more symptoms (in about 3-4 days, to a week if really addicted) try fasting. The headache was terrible for me for one day, the second day it came only in the afternoon and it

Weird question: if menstruating is not natural nor necessary, why both my cat and my dog (eating only raw for their whole lives) were mestruating? No change in eating habits made it better for me until I had my baby daughter. Now my periods are smoother (not much lighter but painless). Though I 'd feel much better withought the monthly hassle I guess I would worry a bit.

If you drink it how much is recommended? I've heard about its properties before but only regarding skin repair. Drinking it always seemed kind of voodoo to me. But maybe why not? And surely my health needs a lot of improvement.

Guys, You are very helpful. Thank you so much and I hope to meet you when we get there. It's going to be definitely around Vancouver, which is not so much to say. I've just googled for a good map and, here I am, looking for the first time closely at the area. Mosaica was asking me what I am more interested in - the outdoor activities, hiking, biking, climbing and so on or the cultural life

Hi guys! I haven't kept you posted lately because we were still debating (not fighting) in search for the best solution. It seems BC won although it's not going to be easy, not knowing anyone around. We lived for 4-5 years in the US so the transition will not be ot abrupt. Still, every move like this turns your life upside down. Hopefully the bottom of our lives is better... I am a bit worr

Would walnuts work too? There are no raw almonds in Romania...only roasted and salted. Would the milk be still as nutricious? I don't know much about almonds, they are too expensive and not raw here. All the raw nuts we have here are peanuts, walnuts and hazelnuts (the latter not widely available and I suppose pretty expensive).

Thanks a lot to all of you and especially for your intention to send produce here. To my knowledge that is not possile. Anything that can spoil is forbidden. The package would take at least a week, usually around 2 weeks, so the produce would be rather stale. Mosaica, I'm checking now my PM box. How many PMs can you have? I only have around 5. I know my daughter will be better off in the l

Thanks, Patty. That's reassuring. Our pediatricians would recommend meat when they are 5 mo old, egg yolks even before that, liver for iron, dairy for calcium...and so on. Fruits and veggies for vitamins. So I'm not talking with any pediatrician about that. I'm really outlandish in Ro with such a diet. Today another mom gave my daughter before asking me and before I could say no a cracker (the 'c

Yes, I heard that too, Islandgirl. It seems there might be some bacteria that can cause real harm to them. Do you know when it would be safe to do that? In Romania thay say after the baby is one. Not that I am in a hurry to give her honey...just being curious. On the other hand, if I wanted to sweeten something the only alternative in Romania would be sugar. My daughter still refuses water althou

Prism, Maybe I wasn't quite clear...the sweet tooth is for sweet fruits... peaches are sometimes to sour for us. She has NEVER had any junk food. I fight my friends and family but no junk for my daughter. You know at this age it's hard to say no. The easiest is find alternatives, or not provoke as you say a bad habit. It is my first child but I'm really trying to do my best, not just food wise

Hi everyone! I admire immensely what you are all doing. Though right now I cannot be even high raw because of the insane costs of fruits and veggies this summer in Romania (probably the driest and most weird year since weather recordings) I keep reading and learning and my 11 mo old daughetr is pretty much 100% raw. My problem is: I'm trying to feed her some avocado but she has a huge swee

Rawfrancois, How much weight do you want to lose? The caloric intake is borderline anorexic and you also mention blackouts! This would worry me a lot! You are not only losing weight, but you are endangering your health. If you are so afraid of avocados at least eat more fruits and veggies to get to a healthy calorie count (at least around 1500). Try to lose weight slowlier - I'm sure you haven

A question that might not sound too intelligent: why are they planning on pasteurizing the poor almonds? Not that I would find any raw almonds in Romania but it seems I'm immigrating to Canada at the right time. By the way Canadians, is this happening there too?

Katie, I have a 10mo old daughter and I couldn't nurse her past 4 months. I gave her formula and all the other crap recommended for babies. Still, nothing bottled. I cooked for her myself, but there was a lot of cooked stuff. Then I stopped giving her dairy (she has never had meat though, thank God!) and sticked with vegan. Now she refused the boiled carrots she so much enjoyed in the beginnin

Pampam, I read today that wheat grass is srouted out of different kind of wheat but also can be made out of the common wheat. That is the only one we have. Do you know if it is at least slightly as beneficial as the one you have in the States? I'm not feeling too good today. It's code orange in Romania - 40+ degrees C and most people (me included) don't have an AC unit. I'm not raw myself a

Thank you Prism! I'll try the hot tub and acv treatment as soon as the temperature goes down a bit. It's 40 degrees C here, code orange and most people (us included) do not have AC. It's VERY expensive and we live in a rented appartment. It really hard to keep my daughter cool and hydrated. I exercise on the ball as often as I can but lately I've been a bit lazy and buzy. I'll be more motivated i

Morning (around 10/11 AM) - fruit - whatever is in season: now - peaches, apples, plums, melons (just one of them) - about half a pund. Lunch - a large salad - usually leafy greens (lettuce, slinach, parsley...) with lemon and a bit of olive oil) After this...fruit (whatever I have at home) and probably a second largish salad..grinded carrots, cawliflower, bell peppers, cucumbers...not so m

Hi everyone! You've been a great support for me these past few weeks. And here I am with another problem: a horrible back ache. I have scoliosis but it hasn't bothered me much in the past. Two days ago I woke up with breathtaking pain in the middle of my back and I amm still in much pain. We are in the middle of moving and I also need to care for my 10mo old daughter who is more and more on t

I'm happy happy happy! It doesn't seem to be an allergy - it's just musquittoes bites. I wasn't sure because she has had these allergy spots before. Yet, these looked a bit different - smaller, better defined. I covered both arms and legs (poor thing, it's really hot these days here) and they are receding and nothing else appeared today. I almost had doubts about her diet especially as a friend,

No, She's perfectly fine otherwise - happy, alert, good sleep and all. No stuffed nose or red eyes either. Might be that as well. I couldn't nurse her for too long so she's probably eliminating the toxins of formula. I'll have to wean her as soon as she's one and see alternatives. I still cannot find a safe source of raw cow/goat milk. I'll try to see about the apple cider vinegar. My mother-i

Pampam, Thanks for the support. We hope to move to Canada next year. Right now we are still in the process of applying for immigration and it goes SLOWLY. I'll try to find sunflower seeds on less orthodox channels (shops - all of them are roasted and salted). By the way, it might seem weird but what is wheat grass? I've seen everyone writing about it but I'm not sure if I know what that is - i
