Hi Tadey, I encourage you to read Doug Graham's book, "The 80-10-10 Diet". It is available on his website, foodnsport.com. He covers diabetes in depth in this book. Most research and medical thought on diabetes has its attention focused on avoidance of sugar -- even sugars from raw fruits. The problem isn't the sugar from the banana, it's the fat in the bloodstream that prevents the

If you're willing to share, I'd love to hear what types of meals you put together when you do go to raw restaurants such as Cafe Gratitude? I follow a low-fat fruit-based diet in line with 80-10-10 philosophy and guidelines. Last time I went to a raw restaurant during a trip to Chicago, I ingested loads of fat and salt in a raw deep-dish pizza entree and a brownie that seemed to have mostly da

Uma, Your posts are so uplifting! I really admire and appreciate the way you speak about meeting challenges by perceiving them as opportunities for play. Since I don't have a lot of money to spend on more expensive fruits right now, sometimes I get frustrated when I run out of ripe bananas and the case that I bought to replace it is still partially green. Thanks for helping me remember that fi

this may sound a little far-fetched -- but what about mashed bananas? in a way, they sort of look like mashed potatoes? you might be able to do something with cauliflower -- though that's not going to be very easily digested. what if you prepared a large salad and a small dollop of pureed cauliflower and/or young coconut for mashed potatoes? another idea -- bring something exotic that every

yes -- there were a few here and there on the tree that weren't quite there yet. in my excitement at finding the tree i was gathering them rapidly and eating 'em out of hand. i bit into one that hadn't fully ripened; i slowed way down after that!
