Yes but most people don't thik that way, sadly. I sometimes, when I am short on money, think that it would be nice to live on a bagel, 1 cup noodle soup and a McD burger a day lol. Costs like..$2?

Well what rips, rips. I don't think there is any way to mend them. I have some from pregnancy and some from growing up as a kid. High raw and 100% raw for many years has not cured them or prevented them for me. Now I know that MSM is supposed to do a lot in that section (tissue, scar, hair...) but I'm not sure if it can "fix" it.

Coco, I remember you recommended it at some other point and I actually tried it heh. I agree it is hard to overcome the awkwardness. With all the daily routines, I stopped after a while. But I have a necklace from my childhood that has several stars on them dangling from my rearview mirror. So when I crawl my way up through traffic on the way to work, I sometimes use it like a rosary of some sort

Coco, I think this might be part of the problem...I do tend to actually dislike- or more positively - *avoid* the term "detox" as I am tired of it but it can be seen as part o the journey. I know that there is a lot of my old baggage that has not even been opened up yet but will be a tough time dealing with. Maybe this is the time to prepare for it. I did positive affirmations a whil

Thanks for your messages, everyone! I'm feeling better today, just had a regular night's sleep! If this comes up again I have some strategies which I'm glad people here suggested. They are: not being overcome by fear, trying to be present, trying to bring "good vibes" into the situation by saying positive words, staying conscious so I don't slip away into a nightmare. Above all that,

Interesting, because a few weeks back I bought liquid dulse in order to add some iodine to my diet! I am taking calcium/magnesium supplements now and then because I work out a lot and sometimes feel it helps me, I'll look into that more deeply and see if I can find some magnesium that sits well with me. I have tried in the past but it makes me feel rather gassy hehe. Sleep paralysis as you des

Hello friends, I have a slight problem and wonder if anyone has some insight or ideas for me. This summer, we moved to a new apartment. Ever since we moved there, I did not sleep well. But I don't want to blame the place itself, since I feel comfortable there. Well, the past 4-6 weeks or so (I don't track the time anymore for peace of mind/avoiding guilt...) I've been doing 100% raw the Gabriel C

I've been buying persimmons for 69cents per lbs in the past weeks but now they get greenish spots on them. I guess it is mold :O I peeled the rest I got really good and won't buy any anymore unless they get a fresh batch or something in. At a different store I saw some looking muuuuch nicer but for $2 per lbs so I didn't get any.

Hello everyone, thanks for your advice again! I'm off to the bookstore today to do some christmas shopping and I hope to pick it up there for her. Very correct, that last thing I want is make someone yo-yo between healthy foods, "slipping up" and "guilt", a totally unnecessary behaviour pattern when trying to shape up. I'll keep y'all posted !

Thanks very much for your posts this far!!! I will take everything into serious considerartion as advice from this board is very important to me. Something to add: I love the long term concept this far and I want to tell her to improve her diet step by step..small steps. They worked on me, they worked on my husband so I am quite confident about this. However, this lady lives much more in the

A colleague has been asking for nutritional advice, I am so flattered. What she wants is to "lose weight the vegetable way". After giving it some thought, I'd rather really answer her questions and help her to get this to WORK than bombard her with raw food theories. I think small successes may help better to see that the more live food you eat, the better you feel. I try to have al

Hah yes it is nothing I'm proud of But it was some kind of what some people call "old people's smell". Once I used this storebought cilantro dressing and I reeked of cilantro for a few days. Raw cilantro won't do that to me. My husband is Japanese and fortunately loves my raw smell hahaha

I'm originally from Germany. Colder weather but cheaper produce. I am in SoCal now and was quite shocked about the price of groceries in general and produce...anything that is more than $1.50 per lbs is just outrageous to me, my husband calls it the sunshine tax....price to pay to live here so beautifully

The link between cheese and breastmilk is mention in Victoria Boutenko;s book 12 steps to raw food. Cheese seems to be the hardest thing to give up for many, a real addiction. Trying to understand that and like David mentioned, going beyond that in your mind first has helped me a lot. I am so to speak a recovering Brie addict. The last time I was so hooked I would totally binge on it and e

1) I was getting a huge Napa head and ate a few leaves per day, always taking the outside ones and working may way in. I noticed brownish spots every once in a while but I washed them off thinking it was dirt. Well, soon enough I reached the heart of the Napa and inside sat a huge HUGE caterpillar, the size of my pinky. The brownish stuff was its @#$%&! 2) I was juicing spinach and drank the

Hello there, well I don't know what the prob of the japanese ladies is I work for a japanese company and whenever (3 times since I work there) one of them gets pregnant, a rain of all kinds of different advice falls down on them. No fruit, yes fruit, eat almonds, don't eat fish do this do that.... I had one pregnancy in Germany (my home) and one in the USA, and I found that the USA's doctors'

Wow I envy all of you. I see no change in my cycles on partial raw. I am on 100% raw right now and I've been through one of the most "horrible" menstruation I ever had about 10 days ago. I guess it's a form of detoxing even though the term is a bit overused these days but still...it was awful. But to answer the initial question...or not really...well I have 2 children and no they wer

I like them for their great nutrition, but mostly juiced them.Yesterday I tried again to marinate a bunch and eat it as it is and it was not fun. I just ate it because I never throw out anything lol.Marinating works great with spinach, but for some reason not with dandelion....I like stuff when it gets all soggy

I'm not really a Pentaxian, as I am mostly annoyed with being photographed all the time in the most mundane situations. We live in southern California. There's a lot of Japanese people here and so he/they continue mostly the japanese diet, which he appreciates a lot. I don't try to change people anymore, I just offer advice when asked and otherwise try to be a good role model.

A Pentaxian on a raw food board! This is mingling mine and my husband's great passions in life - mine being the raw foods, his being the Pentax and its array of lenses. (He *is*Japanese, too but not from Okinawa )

I work here since three years and I co-workers are used to seeing me with 1-2 "elephant sized" tupperware boxes filled with vegs or fruit. I get teased, but I'm very immune against it by now. There's also other peculiar people here - the japanese staff constantly munches on their rice crackers which creates a ever present cloud of senbei-smell around their area that is also subject to

I have to admit that I do get that salad when we have a night where we get food to go from Subway. I give credit to them that it contains a little more than just lettuce, as is the case with most other salads at fast food places. I don't think I ever got it with pickles but the dressing ain't too raw I bet. Still, it's better than ending up with a foot long sub!

way cool! I have made up my mind to go next year. This year didn't work out due to some other schedule but I'll make it my priority for next year. I would love to see some photos! I have read people saying that the food supply was not well worked out. But people were able to bring their own food, weren't they?

Sparkler - well as far as the nutrition of the kids go, I am kind o private about extended breastfeeding except places where I know it will be accepted. I'm just not in the mood for confrontations. My older son grew up vegan for the first 4 years of his life, and it already raised eyebrows here and there, I did not want to "advertise it" because I know how people are....you need milk to

Diamond Dave - I totally hear you. Back in the day I ate whatever my parents put on the table, wether I liked it or not. My sons will eat little to nothing if they don't like it. I have bought and used the book "The Sneaky Chef" which also uses the concept of sneaking purees into various foods. The downside is that after all that steaming, mashing and mixing, there's not much vegetable
