yes, but what is excess? clearly everyone is different, and different stages of 'cleanliness' would require probably less. It just seems to me that the main guiding principal behind 811 is that given an inadequate ammount of calories from carbs one will inevitably eat tons of calories form fat and thus the percentages are formed. In some ways it resembles the atkins form: eat as much as you want

I thought this might be a nice thread to resuscitate, since all topics seem to be focused on fat VS fruit without alternatives. To me the whole issue is calories: fat vs. calories: carbs, cites calories to have the same structure and functioning as with more energy draining diets of far less nutrient availability and absorption. It would be nice to have some discussion on exactly how many

you were judging his reputation on it. If it is just because you find it gross thats pretty silly. lots of people promote it, especially if you are in certain prediciments, like traveling.

I get them in Chinatown in NYC, I doubt they are organic. the whole thing is definitely a meal or more. I wouldn't say they are dehydrating, but they are super dense and heavy

I’m interested in your experiences, just not as proofs of particular phenomena. Assuming that I don’t see or share those experiences because I question them as well… If something feels good to me, is working for me, yet I’m informed of something by a third party with 30 years more experience and a great deal more of ‘knowledge’ that I might want to be considering other things, I’

Bryan, because I don’t post personal data means I don’t have personal experience? I didn’t say that I READ other accounts of such abilities at all I said: “I can't say that from your example that being a 80/10/10 puts you in that category anymore than other raw foodists. many people make similar claims about their method of raw…” I said 'many people claim’ which is a true s

whatever, your website says you went raw in 2004 after noticing that Demi Moore was a raw foodist. your approach is fine, except for the fact that you judge things outside the spectrum of your experience, and don't seem to be able to comprehend that this way of operating stems directly from following the principals of natural higene. if you arn't drawn to vegetable jucing, fine, don't cite

rawgosia, the coffee example is an ANALOGY about someone in a different state of health. the way you are using it here is still the same as bread, as a substance your body can no longer tolerate. Someone drinking coffee on a SAD will claim that it has certain positive effects, in a sense for there particular system of functioning it does, in a way this has to do with how we might JUDGE them as

you can consume lots of things, I could very well be wrong about eggplant, but that doesn't contradict that certain vegetables should be eaten only when cooked or not at all. it would be similar to eating under-ripe fruit. yes you can put it in your mouth and eat it, it might be more difficult to assimilate (least harmful scenario) or it might be damaging to the body. I'm pretty sure eating a bun

statistics are an unreliable source of information. The NY times magazine article does a good job of hammering home that idea, and that comes from a journalist (usually another unreliable source) that being said I totally agree with arugula on at least the following: >Had you read more about what makes them different and less >than ideal for human health, you would certainly agree

it depends I suppose I think eating an hour after of the same thing would be preferable maybe then overeating in a single sitting, but both would be less preferable to simply under-eating at the first meal. but i'm not a lock/stock 80/10/10 believer of loading on a ton of calories. the theory behind not eating juicy (especially acid) fruits after dense or fatty foods and possibly after any

no arguments there. I guess my impression from what you wrote first was you didn't find them palatable but you found a reason to include them in your diet. this looks like this is not the case. I am reconsidering not using them because of weighing the theories avalaible vs. my almost non-existant desire to actually eat them independent of such reasons I originally loaded them with. that i

1.) that isn't at all what science is about celeray and cucumbers (horrible horrible things, no place in my diet), ????? 2.) celery and cucumbers are staples for pretty much anyone clued in enough to know that far more vegetables cannot be eaten raw than can. although beets and cabbage juiced or eaten maybe in very small quanities might represent the more acceptable side of the spectrum. two things mono-eating isn't mono eating if you arn't paying attention to the wait times in between meals, which is dictated by volume as well as by the propeties of the food. if you are having nuts and seeds in the evening hours thats pretty much a done/finished senario, you certainly shouldn't be having juicy fruits anytime after that. thats like the first rule of food combining. I think

I was saying it was in a sense a contradiction since he was recomending the article. read again what I wrote. does it in any way seem like I was blindly praising the article? rawfoodexplained although it is comppehensive (in particular I found this article an informative POINT OF VIEW) has at its fundamentals a NH

he meant as he stated that your great grandmother wouldn't recognize go-gurt or cereal bars as a food, nevermind a health ADDING food. which is what the government allows to be put on the labels of such foods. this is the almost universal indoctrination that people need to overcome before ever choosing anything seemly 'restrictive'.

well one of the main points is that most people are driven to believe that they should receive more of a nutrient from food instead of 1.) eating a food that has nutrients 2> eating less of food that has damaging properties this is a critical difference because most people's beliefs are due to what the author calls 'THE RISE OF NUTRITIONISM' which comes out of various bouts between food

Bryan, not to seem like I am criticizing your integrity on yet another issue, but why would you buy fermented cabbage if rawfoodexplained specifically outlines how even fermented foods not containing additives like salt can have have no positive function in the body. "T.C. Fry wrote about this food in 1981: "Sauerkraut is indigestible. The acetic acid (vinegar) that results from i

>>If you experience salt as a healthful food, and it feels like it is hydrating your body, then why ask this question, why not just eat the salt? For me, my personal experience gets a higher input in my decision process over input I get externally, either from raw proponents or other people. If I find that things aren't working for me, then I seek external input, as I am trying to rectify w

a few things thomaslantern: heating or drying isn't the same as heated or dried bryan:I'm not much a believer in superfoods that are stipped from exotic locales as being necessary to health any more than humans consumeing 2000 calories of oranges or melon daily as being a healthy or sustainable way for individuals or the planet. As for your anecdote about the tropics, I can't say that f

>Salt dehydrates the body. How do I know this? Because when I eat some salt, I become thirsty. Caffeine/alcohol dehydrates the body. How do I know this? Because when I ingest these substances, I become thirsty. that isn't a conclusion at all. you could say eating heating or drying foods like peppers cayenne etc...have a similar affect and clearly do not have the same properties as caffeine

yeah, unfortunately most things especially green leafy vegetables arn't all that juicy and I guess will yield suprizingly little if you were new to this kind of thing. people might have differeing opinions based on your condition but most likely you want to be doing green juices (celery being the juiciest and therefore a staple) carrots are cheap and have cleansing properties, cucumber is good,

It seems like most people on this board are advocates of 80/10/10. Without having a solid opinion of my own, I was curious as to what people thought about raw fooders who advocate/aspire to very low calorie diets that are nutrient/mineral dense and revolve around the non-sweet fruits like David Wolfe and David Favor. It seems like 80/10/10 also neglects the importance of vegetable juicing and phi

i'm curious as to whether the suggestions have to do with health or just aleviating discomfort. I've found that daily strenuous exercise helps but often I still get cold/numbness in my fingers, especially when eating refrigerated fruit like grapefruit (ouch). so I guess what i'm asking is, if one can withstand it, is it better for the body to bundle up anyway or is it more of a comfort thing?

slowing reducing is whats best, notice how I phrased what I said about meat, stick to chicken after large salads if you are transitioning. you could eat two solid meals and still benefit, just stick to proper wait times to avoid toxifying your body. do some research on 'food combining' but still you arn't getting it with the juicing. you don't want to have the juice entering your system with f
