The only thing I can eat watermelon in combo with is OJ. I was shocked to find this out. I've since learned that a lot of it has to do with the water content of the food.

I don't think there's anything wrong with craving watermelon and eating it every single day! I eat watermelon almost daily in the summer. Sometimes that's all I eat for a day. Or 2, or 3....or more..

I hope I'm not repeating what someone else already said - but if it were me, I'd go for steamed or baked sweet potatoes, and other lightly steamed veggies. I'd also focus my efforts on making it as low fat as possible. Hope this helps!

I make it a general rule to avoid eating anything that tastes bitter or disgusting to me. I feel like, if it tastes that bad, I probably wasn't meant to eat it in the first place. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience!

Once I got something like 15 fairly big watermelons for $1.49 each. I was on a high for days and days.

They don't digest well for me. They also have a high level of aflatoxin, a carcinogenic mold.

I love it...but it has to be as fresh as possible. When it's a few days old, it tastes starchy and doesn't digest well.

Mine doesn't either. I just stay away from them. I'm pretty sure this is a common problem.

You know what my experience has been? My skin actually started getting better when I just quit using anything. I wash my face with water and very occasionally wear eye-liner, nothing else. This, combined with my diet I'm sure, has gotten my skin off to a great healing start! It is funny how things got better when I stop trying to use products.

Maybe something to do with the acid from the pineapple affecting your tastebuds? That's just a vague guess, though.

What a fun thread! Azura your hair is lovely. I've been no-poo now for 4 months now. It hasn't been problem free but I have really enjoyed my experiment. The sides of my hair are quite lovely but there is thie one spot in the back of my head that still gets greasy sometimes. But if I take care to wash every single day, it is fine. Glad to see so many others trying the same thing! It

I "mono"ed on hachiyas a few weeks ago for days without really intending to. I just happened to find a good cheap source, and they were so tasty that that's all I ended up wanting to eat for quite awhile. I don't remember how long I went since I did not do this intentionally...but it was somewhere between 6 and 10 days. It was more fun than mono-ing on bananas! What a treat.

They're not fattening, they're one of the most low fat fruits available. They ARE dense in calories, but that is different from being fattening. I tried this for 8 days. My husband did for a few more than me. I felt clean, easy, simple, it really helped me get a handle on some food addictions. I think you would pretty much get similar experiences from doing a mono-diet of ANY fruit t

You should consider reading the book...I think it would answer your question. For me, I went several months w/o any overt fats and was doing fine. Then I had some avo and noticed some interesting things: 1) After not eating fat for awhile, a small amount of fat made me feel queasy. 2) It made me feel heavy internally, it seemed to take awhile to digest. 3) I had low energy for awhile

They're not starchy unless they're ripe. They're VERY starchy when unripe. You're right, bananas are a very low fat food. I've eaten a truckload of them this year and lost weight. HTH

Digestion takes up energy, so it's more optimal for your body if you eat bigger meals in fewer sittings. If you're eating all day long, then your body is working hard to digest food all day long. But when you're first transitioning to raw, it is difficult to get in enough food to satiate you because fruits and veggies contain so much water, you tend to fill up really quick. So maybe start

Aww, that's way too cool! It's nice to find some people once in awhile who don't think I'm off my rocker. Glad something I said struck something with you! I learn so much from so many people myself.

I see banana peppers all the time at my local farmer's market, and sometimes at Whole Foods or other healthy type grocery stores.

If I had to choose only one food to live on for the rest of my life, I would pick mango. It's been my fave fruit since I was a kid.

Gypsy, I feel the same way, and I too tend to hold back on info about my kids. I figure, what they eat is our business and nobody else's, esp if they're healthy and growing well. (By nobody else, I don't mean the people on this thread, but SAD people who feel the need to question you. Just because you ask me what they eat, doesn't mean I owe you an answer).

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I know, her Living on Live Food courses (which produces "certified" raw teachers) seem to largely center around meal prep and recipe training. I don't think it is meant to be a comprehensive course in raw nutrition, if that helps.

Do any of you who feed your kids unconventionally, feel uncomfortable discussing your kids' diets in a public internet forum? Just curious. I agree with Sapphire totally, kids are little sponges and it is amazing what kind of influence you can have on them. Scary, really.

People seem to think that hot food, soups and such, help keep you warm in the winter. I started raw in the winter. It really didn't affect me too much. I just dressed warmly and exercised. Both of these things kept me quite warm when needed. Hope this helps.

No, I do not. First of all, I can't always find good organic produce here. Second, the prices are sometimes more than I can afford. Third, sometimes, organic produce is not as fresh as locally grown conventional produce from the farmer's market. I just do the best I can. These last two weeks I've been "accidentally" buying organic oranges for something like 67 cents a lb. (Long

Yes! This summer I left behind all my "cute" clothing and opted for tank tops and shorts instead. If I wore more than that, I felt really restricted. I'm not liking the colder weather right now because I have to put on so much clothing.
