Date: October 10, 2008 10:39AM they say that self love is impossible
IMPOSSIBLE, i heard u always need another its wasteful, stupid and folly to try and love oneself because well it simply cannot be done in totality it would be foolish to think otherwise and yes this is true to some extent i suppose but so what what's the harm in trying? what else is there to do? when the world is caprice and its inhabitants capricious? must one blow in the wind a slave to other's avaricious opinions? jumping to the beat of a myriad external orders? be that,, do this... be that.. do this.. self love is the highest love because it is freedom from the caprice of others but how to attain it? how to attain it? just like a seed is planted in the ground and a child waters it in hope and blind faith that it will sprout into a flower a plant an apple tree a mighty oak like a child one simply places a seed through action small action one at a time and water it cultivate it nourish it grow it what is that seed? the seed lies in the mind what one tells oneself the seed lies in one's actions what one does for oneself the seed lies in how one is able to nourish and cultivate oneself and feed the spirit with light and consistent nurturing how does it grow? miraculously how does it sustain? by sheer faith how is it toppled? in one moment thus it is necessary to persevere and let it take root to know it is a worthy goal self love it is freedom it cannot be taken away by other's caprice self love it is freedom and it is the highest way to love another Re: self love

i truly believe this its probably the deepest most difficult most necessary most whatever way towards freedom but the thing is how easy is it? i don't know i'm still on a journey myself that's why its also cool to be out in the wilderness alone for several days or maybe even weeks or a year even it shows where one is cuz there is nothing else out there but oneself and the trees and the whispering wind and an acorn dropping to the ground none of these entities will judge or love or hate they will just be absolute mirrors so its even more important or it becomes more apparent what is within Re: self love

Date: October 10, 2008 06:27PM Two of the most powerful things I have ever learned are 1) that self-love is the foundation of true joy and happiness and 2) if one does not know self-love, it can be cultivated through cleansing and nourishing the human body, as this raises energy levels and optimizes brain chemistry. tis true one has less "distractions" within the system to go within and then one can find core and that is the beginning of cultivating core Re: self love

Date: October 10, 2008 09:44PM another thing is this
if one is out in the wilderness and feels extremely lonely what does that mean? i think that if one is out in the wilderness and they conquer their loneliness then they will make the best relationships with others cuz they don't rely on the other which means they take responsibility for themselves and how they feel but if they are out in the wilderness and can't conquer their loneliness than the relationship they have with another person might be based on need which is kind of dangerous anyhow i didn't say it was easy maybe it is near impossible but like i said so what? its fun trying to go for the impossible why not? at least, there are degrees and no one has to be perfect thank goodness for that Re: self love

Outstanding post. I totally agree with your statements. And I know that self love is definitely possible, it is the ultimate implication of finding one's true self. Once one finds one's true self under the dust and cobbwebs of the mind that gave itself away too many times, one can never look away. One is entrapped by that mirror that is one's true self, to look at that beautiful image, that glorious human being. The true self is a child that we all once knew, but still have the chance to know again. The true self is the truth and we are the brightly polished mirror showing the world the image of that truth. Self love is inevitable once one finds there true self, it might take time, but it will happen eventually. Re: self love

Date: October 11, 2008 01:59AM well... so i am curious what things people do to cultivate inner love
for me, sometimes it is just keeping organized to a high degree so that I don't spend so much time looking for things that I misplaced it feels so cruel when things are disheveled and i need to get out the door and I can't find what i need for that day so that is one way i attempt to show self love another way is nourishing my cells with highest vibrational nutrient content that is my way of telling my self " you are valuable and important and thus you deserve the highest order of energy" when i take a hike in nature, it is like leading myself by the hand and taking me to where i belong.... nature... i am not a part of nature.. i AM nature.. and its good to feel a part of it.. even though... sometimes it is scary having my own thoughts ricochet back to me in a vast and glorious space Re: self love

Date: October 11, 2008 01:17PM I've never thought of organizing my space as self loving, though I'm a huge proponent of Feng Shui. It totally makes sense. I have a big problem with this, and maybe looking at it this way will help me to keep on top of it more. I'm gonna try it! Definitely eating well is self love. For me, setting aside "me" time, hiking, working out and doing the sauna at the Y, journal writing and drawing are self love things I do. And dancing!!! Re: self love

I think we are never alone.I have always a being of light with me.Listening to my intuition and "contacting" my mentor-being of light is a self love act for me. Re: self love

Date: October 11, 2008 08:54PM Organizing my space-- yeah, I can see the connection with self-love. (I never thought of it that way before, either, Sundancer.) But clearly when I'm going through a difficult time my housekeeping almost always suffers. Often when I finally get fed up with the clutter and messiness and start cleaning everything up, that's exactly the point where I start to feel better. Neat!!! (Pun intended, ha ha.) I am actually a proponent of rational self-interest. This is why I believe that self love is so absolutely important a any being to live a fulfilling life. To cultivate my self love, I work on any problems I have discovered within myself, and I study philosophy and literature, in order to understand and discover these problems. After I have fixed the problems I have nothing but blooming to do. Re: self love

i said you must be a buddhist because lots of ...well most of.. if not all of the sects of buddhism deal with discerning illusion from what is real ( enlightened) and your post intimated that its all good " rational self interest" sounds chill too Re: self love

<<I've never thought of organizing my space as self loving, though I'm a huge proponent of Feng Shui>> i never studied feng shui but it seems kind of interesting i wonder how many problems i could have alleviated by facing my desk to the north, south, east or west it is rather intriguing, i think fascinating!! cy <<I think we are never alone.I have always a being of light with me.Listening to my intuition and "contacting" my mentor-being of light is a self love act for me.>> oh... i have heard about this some people have a mentor being within that they contact sometimes it is literal a being outside of themselves that they can call from within any tips? it interests me because i feel it is "free help" why would i refuse? especially if it has nothing but good intentions for me Re: self love

Yeah, it's pretty sweet to logically love myself. It's so relaxing to not have to worry about my problems, because I know that by my life, and my love of it, I can make choices to change the parts of myself I dislike. Freedom!!! Re: self love

Date: October 18, 2008 06:50PM Beautiful post veronique.
I would just say that not only self love must be free, but also any other type of love. It is my personal belief that love is primarily based on respect and freedom. <<what else is there to do? when the world is caprice and its inhabitants capricious? must one blow in the wind a slave to other's avaricious opinions? jumping to the beat of a myriad external orders? be that,, do this... be that.. do this.. >> Those things to me do not sound like real love. It's very important that freedom is inherent in love in my opinion, as force will irretrivably ruin a relationship otherwise. Cheers, J Re: self love

i am still exploring "freedom" freedom is being free of other people's love even that is the beginning of true love strange paradox but highly essential if a relationship is to last i understand this intellectually 100% but the knowing and the being are entirely different things admittedly but i do know this to be true Re: self love

Date: October 19, 2008 08:18PM I like Nietzsche's concept of love, which La Veronique mentioned, in the respect that one must be free from other's love. One must be able to escape the need to have others love one's self. When one is able to escape from this need then they can see past the illusion of other's love. One can decide what one loves about one's self, then after finding that self love, one can truly love others, because one isn't inhibited by the illusion of what true love is. Before, one thought that true love was the love they needed from others, but they only changed their self to meet that love. Now, in realizing the love of one's self, one can be who one truly is and find love from those who truly love one's self. This is freedom and love coming together in perfect harmony, a man and woman coming together to have the perfect child, a free being, a loving being, a true being.
Looking past his blatant existentialism and subjectivism, he has some trully wonderful ideas. lol Re: self love
