This is just gorgeous John.

I recommend another book to speed along that process of self-healing, I recommend this book all the time but that's because it's honestly so good.

Loving What Is by Byron Katie. Best read of my life so far. <3

i think that if one has achieved self love
everything one touches turns to gold

if one has not achieved self love
all other achievements are simply an effort to stretch towards self love

but self love is where its at

i think the way is different for everyone
and they need to honor that

"Usefulness" to who or what? "Society"? Is there a certain age connected to when a person should kill themselves for the good of the Community?

How do you know he 'found the peace'? Nobody knows what happens to a person's soul who commits suicide. I believe (because I read it and it makes sense to me) that a person who commits suicide ends up a ghost who keeps reliving the suicide over and over.

Ghosts? For real? That's a little too Santa Claus and toothfairy realm for me. I can't talk myself into believing any such thing.

Dead is dead. More peaceful than a tormented existance? Undoubtably so, though you wouldn't know it or be able to appreciate it because you'd be, well, dead.

For me, I'd no sooner end my own life than I would cut off a limb because it was paining me. There is so much more, to focus on only one aspect of anything is a waste of everything else IMO. Then again, I don't have a crippled leg or crippling depression so how do I know just what I would do...

I believe in ghosts, but I have heard of(and experienced) only those that ceased to be alive because of someone else's violence or unfortunate violent circumstances of no one's doing.

I wouldn't insist that someone's departed loved one became a ghost, wandering the earth ruefully, as the result of his suicide--not helpful!

Despair is never a solution, it is the ultimate failure. In Tibetan we say, “if the rope breaks nine times, we must splice it together a tenth time”. Even if ultimately we do fail, at least we will have no feelings of regret. And when we combine this insight with a clear appreciation of our potential to benefit others, we can begin to restore our hope and confidence. -Dalai Lama

this house haunts me.
every room reverberates with the memory of what was shared in them, and who i have lost.lost ...due to not even knowing why.
some kind of anger issue?
impotence?
house not being big enough?
too far to drive?
my meals not to their liking?
my aspergers?
disability?
food stamps?
my parents?
their own emotional issues?

the mental list goes on and on and haunts me every day.

no...old tapes of leave it to beaver dont help.
even wacking off to hours of internet porn doesnt even come close to filling the void.
nor beer.

but one thought gives realief.
duct taping a flexible hose to my car tailpipe, and running the end of it into the interior, and sitting in there with the engine running, and going off to paradise

hi eaglefly

well, why don't you write down 5 reasons why you haven't already put the hose into the interior of your car

study that list

and magnify it

other people's "insights" are probably not going to cut it unless they come from yourself

seems like your trust in other people has eroded to the point of non existence

but maybe you could listen to trust your own voice

starting now

I went through many years of depression and strong feelings of suicide, even attempted it many times. It was a horrible time, im glad im over that horrible period now. It was all down to health issues aswell.

Im so glad i found herbs, cleaned up my diet with going vegan and incorporating proper exercise. Was a life saver literally.

Vin,

Agree with la_veronique. I'll also add that lots of people saw fit to give you a shot initially, so maybe you should focus on what's good and loveable and worth preserving in you, yeah?

Going over lists of shortcomings may seem productive, but if you're not a villain, and I know you aren't, it's actually a useless exercise. I've never met anyone decent who deserved to be happy who discovered their failures with people were something obvious--"It must have been my sideburns all along, of course!"--life and people don't work that way, hon.
