yeah, wow, exact same thing happened to me as a kid, literally almost the exact situation except it was my dad and brother, and the person wasn't a lifeguard, even the same age...weird...glad the kid got saved too... that is a really dang useful page to have out there!!! they included something similar in my first aid and cpr training.

what an eye opener

they should teach this in grade school
so the kids can look after each other
when they are swimming

one lifeguard can't keep track of EVERYthing even though its their job

talking about lifeguards
it really boggles my mind that they don't get paid what they deserve
i swear they should get paid soooooooo much more than what they do
they save lives

i guess the same could be said for other professions dedicated to saving lives during emergencies like firefighters etc.

Oh Ver, what is monitarily valued in our society is totally out of whack. Farmers who grow our food, builders who make us homes and furniture, people who put together the clothing and shoes we wear, the folk responsible for all the neccessities of life that we couldn't do without get paid mountains and valleys less than the Lindsay Lohans of the world. It's twisted so out of proportion. Since when is baseball playing such a valued "career"? Stupidity reigns.

Yup. Many summers "up at the lake" taught me this the hard way. Thanks for posting.

haha....I agree 100%. Being a police officer I know first hand how under paid we are. EMS...you know...folks that go out and SAVE people...yeah...they get paid crap too. Firefighters...I do that for free as a volunteer. But those that are lucky enough to get paid...you guessed it...they get paid jack. Ever seem the paycheck of an enlisted soldier...it could make you cry. All the other examples are right on the mark too. That is the major reason I stopped years ago watching sports. It makes me want to vomit thinking about grown people going out and playing a game making MILLIONS of dollars while there are people out here giving there lives for others making just thousands of dollars. Sad thing is we as a society are the ones that are responsible for this.
