Date: February 28, 2007 03:47PM "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" was a great one. My husband loves the "Muppet Movie" also. He sings "Songs about Rainbows" while he rocks the babies. I haven't seen "Little Miss Sunshine." Need to add it to my list. Re: what is your favorite movie

My all time favorite with Duvall is "Lonesome Dove." My roomate and I were calling him the new sex symbol back then. Re: what is your favorite movie

you are right there were saxophones in the background the jazz music to "Kiss Me Deadly) really IS something else i rented it about 2 years ago ( not sure if i can see it twice though) and i remember how unique the sound was it had trill like bird cymbal sounds suspense sesame brush on drum sounds flutes tinted with lavender whistling wrapped around hollow jade bracelet sounds that is especially true in the scene where mike hammer is checking his surroundings in his own apartment and he suspects that someone has already been there etc. but the background music is really kept to a minimum, though and it flares up on occasions of suspense Hammer is a really coiled up guy without an ounce of subtlety in his bones his series of life's mission is " get the bad guy " his secretary Vera , however, has a clue and questions exactly what he is going after because a lot of times , the enemy is quite nebulous ....its like he's fighting smoke all the time u get the feeling a lot ( from the camera angles) that Big Brother is watching which , i think, was the point of the movie if u get the "uncut" edition, however the ending is interesting i don't know how the "original" movie was made ( if they deleted the nuclear scenes) interesting that u would want to watch that movie its not exactly something u can "warm up" to ( ha ha) i have not watched the other movies u have mentioned titles sound intriguing though may watch one next year thanks for the tips Re: what is your favorite movie

i may consider watching the Truffaut movie cuz didn't he direct " To Shoot the Piano Player"? film noir thought that was well done kind of sparse but decent plot that's a wiry memory too like i just remember a strand or two there was snow a guy was being pursued cuz they thought he killed his brother but the only reason why he did it was cuz his brother was suffering from some sort of heinous physical illness which meant he had to continually endure a great deal of unberable physical pain so it was like an act of mercy i think his brother asked him to do it but the people that were pursuing him, of course, don't understand that and there is no chance of explaining the humanity of what he did and the poor guy is torn and he has to run away i am thinking there was a lot of snow i probably didn't see the whole thing maybe it was at a friend's house and i just saw bits and pieces but it kinda moved me oh yeah, the guy that is being chased is a piano player what i learned from the movie ( from the very tid bits i can remember): piano players live very complex lives ( ha ha) not sure why, really Re: what is your favorite movie

Date: March 06, 2007 04:05PM la-veronique,you have such a way of writing...very beautiful, poetic. maybe a poetic movie critic style. interesting. do you write a lot? you have a interesting imagination. (i can follow you but my English is not that good -first language is portugues from Brazil).
I love Truffaut, and I'll surch for cuz ? La femme da cote (the woman next door) is very good.thragic though. it's something that he can't stop. he gets crazy and can't think about anything. and you are right, the music in the movie (kiss me deadly) was what kept me going. i can't forget that warm saxophone tune, and the "big brother" camera. did you see Grand Central ? a brazilian movie with Fernanda Montenegro. oh! KPAX with Kevin Spacey.very good. Re: what is your favorite movie

I'm from Brazil, and speak Portuguese, brazilian Portuguese. It's different from Portugual though it's the same language, but the accent,slangs...it's like US and England, same thing. Brazil is a stress-free Country, and it's good to visit, and if you are calm, lay back,it's good to live there too.But if you are a type A,bussiness, wall street,no way, maybe in Sao Paulo, but the brazilian mentality is party, restaurants at night, and party, and party, and sun, beach, food, caipirinha (alcohool). Also it has the greatest fruits and veggies ever,I miss a lot the natural fruit juice that you can have in evry place, bar, restaurant. This is very good. I like here very much though I miss there a lot.My intire family is there, but my husbund is american and is here.Than,I'm here with him. Well,La femme da cote is an amazing movie. It's a strong relationship that was ended but still there, strongly. One day both were married and got together again living in the same neighborhood, and the drama starts all over again. It's a big "unfinished business" that comes out like a bomb, like a possession.Evry time you think evrything is fine the bomb explodes again, and the end is tragic. It still a moth dropped type of movie. Also,it has Funny Dargent (?) and Gerard Depardieu, also Truffaut. They are the best. Re: what is your favorite movie
